Any opinions about going during the month of December? We have always gone in Sept/Oct. and this time we decided on something different and are planning a December trip.

It's a great time to go because the crowds are low, the weather is not HOT, and the Christmas decorations are up.

You don't mention when in December you're thinking of going, so there are two responses.

EARLY December is a good time to go because the crowds are low, the weather is not HOT, and the Christmas decorations are up.

LATE December (particularly the week between Christmas and New Year's) is NOT a good time to go because it's the busiest week of the year at WDW and the parks will be PACKED.

It is a great time of year to go, as long a you do not go Christmas week, the crowds are low.
The parks and the resorts are decorated for Christmas, there is the MVMCP, the Candle Light Processional, the Osborne lights. I love going this time of year, the weather can be iffy, one year the weather was great and we wore shorts during the day, when we went in 2002 it was rather chilly until the latter part of the week and then it was beautiful.
Really, you can not go wrong going in December

I have to agree with the above posts. December is good in the early part of the month. I ususally go at that time and crowds are minimal and the decorations are beautiful. I only wish they had longer park hours and it was just a little warmer to do the water parks :)

Two experiences that would make me second guess a late December visit.

Did the week between Christmas and New Years in 2000. It was so crowded! New years Eve was COLD. I mean 32 degrees cold.

Went to MVMCP last year sometime around that week. Riding the ferry boat from MK to TTC it was probably 38 degrees at best. Add the chilly weather to the breeze as you stand at the open front of the ferry boat.

I always looked at a WDW vacation as an escape from the cold North. That wasn't an escape!

Of course, I am one of those that would take an August 95 degree, 95% humidity day over a December 32 degree, 60% humidity day anytime!

We have done first week of December two years in a row - one year was HOT as heck and one year so cold did not really enjoy SAB.

Less crowds, sweatshirt evening weather at a minimum, great decorations!

is a GREAT time to go! Weather is usually great. We went swimming every day 3 years ago but it was too cool this past year. The parks and resorts are already decorated for the holidays. If you have never seen this, you need too! The only bad thing is that the MK usually closes at 6 or 7 but that is not that big of a deal.
