Can you believe it's December???? Time to finish off the year strong.

This is the no excuses, no waiting until January 1st, finish off the year strong exercise thread!

Time to commit to taking care of yourself FIRST! Make yourself a priority and let's all hit the New Year happy, healthy and strong. :cheer2:

I challenge you to push just a little harder this month to get in a little bit more activity. Plan your gym/walks/swims/skiing, etc and get in that exercise this month!

Did you know that a goal of 1800 min for the month is just 60 min a day of activity?
A goal of 900 min is 30 min of activity per day. :goodvibes

How the challenge works:
Post your personal goal for December (xxxx minutes of exercise) and then post updates as frequently as you like. Progress will be tracked here.
Please post your update total at the top of your post.
You are also welcome to share your activity as well.
EXAMPLE:
301/1800
45 min running.

As you reach milestones for the month, your name and total will change color:
At 10% you'll be blue and on the move!
At 25% you'll be hitting it hard and hot pink!
At 50% you'll be purple and halfway there!
At 75% you'll be teal and cruising to the finish
At 90% you'll be red (because you'll be on fire!)
And at 100% you'll be WISH green!

Here we go! Post your self-challenge and I'll add you to the list!

Challenge #2: Plank a Day Challenge

I am doing a plank challenge. If you would like to join me post a reply and I will track you as well. Even though I have done planks on and off for years, I have decided to start from zero and try to build my strength back up.

Here's the challenge:
Dec 1-7 (full plank count to 10, right side count to 10, left side count to 10, full plank count of 10)
Dec 8-14 (full plank count to 20, right side count to 20, left side count to 20, full plank count to 20)
Dec 15-21 (full plank count to 30, right side count to 30, left side count to 30, full plank count to 30)
Dec 22-28 (full plank count to 40, right side count to 40, left side count to 40, full plank count to 40)

***Please only report Plank a Day Challenge results once a week on Saturdays***

Report number of days completion on Dec 7, 14, 21, and 28 (total possible of 7 per week or 28 for the month).

Having a hard time picking a goal for the month. Originally I was going to go with 2400. Because I really need to hit it hard, and get back in a fitness first mind set. But I had a hard time hitting my goal in November (of 2000). So can't decide if I am setting myself up for failure, or setting an achievable goal if I work hard.....

Morning everyone! I missed last month's challenge and I'm back! I think I'm going to go with 1800 this time around!

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Hi Rose!

Thanks so much for hosting again. I dropped off the November challenge and would just send in my minutes when I remembered. I'll try to do a much better job this time about reading/posting. It's really lots of fun to see what everybody does!

I think I'll try for 1700 again. Didn't make it last month, but with the school winter break I should have more free time to devote to me! Working is such a time killer!

I'm in for the plank a day challenge and judging by how heavy my breathing was at the end of those planks, it's high time I did them!

Thanks again and here's to a great December! :wizard:

Rose -

1. Thank you for agreeing to host again, it's very kind of you.

2. I haven't ever met the 1000 minutes but I got close(ish) in November so I'm going to make it my goal again in December.

3. I did a 30-day plank challenge in November and it was awesome. I'm doing a 30-day squat challenge in December, but I'd like to do your challenge also.

:thanks: for hostessing Rose!

I am in again for 900, maybe I will make it this month! (although the Y is closing the group exercise room over Christmas break for resurfacing :scared1:)

Anyway, I think I will join in the plank a day challenge as well :)

I'm a realist, so I'm thinking, go with 2000 and if you exceed it - yea for you! You won't stop just because you hit 2000, but if you don't make 2400, will you be frustrated?

I got a cold, and it got REAL COLD outside, and I missed a week of good runs, so I missed my Nov goal, but I'll keep the same for December (cuz I have 2 really long runs planned) and we'll see how it goes.

1500

As for the planks...that's a toughie! But I'm thinking I'll try modified planks because it's a start, and we'll see how the month goes.

Love your December goal colors!

I went with the 2400. I am really struggling mentally, so I am going to use it to push myself. And not beat myself up if I don't make it. :)

I have a lot of trouble with the planks too--I have so many lower back problems. Which is why I started with count to 10 (meaning 10 seconds) at a time. Hoping by mid January to be up to 60 seconds at a time. :)

******
I took a barre fitness class today....oh my. It was pretty brutal. But between that and time on the tm for my mile a day I am at:
80/2400. :)

This will be good for me because despite moaning about my unhealthy ness this month I have done 0 minutes let's pump that up.

I'll take challenge 1 for 600.

:)

So today I cleaned - a LOT and only worked out for a few minutes. I actually almost didn't add my minutes for today. But 15 minutes is 15 minutes, you know?

15/1000

Thanks for hosting Rose :)

I'm back for December and shooting for 900 minutes again.

I am also in for the Plank A Day Challenge. Thanks for adding this to the exercise thread...I need it!

Well, I'm late checking in so I better go do my plank :thumbsup2

I'm in for 1000 minutes and I'm in for the plank a day. Missed yesterday but I'll start today.

12/2
90 minutes running
10 minutes walking

100/1000

103/1700

Got 2 walks in this morning and I've done my planks. My long term sub job ended (a week before it was supposed to!) so it was nice to get a long second walk. Still will have to go out later for a short one with the pooch, but first gotta take a car battery in to see if it's dead or alive!

Hi, Rose! Thank you so much for hosting again! I am in for 1300 minutes again, which will be a real challenge for me with no races this month.

I am also up for joining you in your plank challenge. :)

I'm in for December. 1700 min
30 min run this morning
30/1700
Thanks for hosting. :)

Ok! I'm in. I've been away FAR too long. I have 800 minutes of training runs planned this month which I'm fairly motivated not to skip. So to make up for the cookies and the baileys and also try to finally lose a few pounds before my spring Disney races.... I'm going to go with:

1500 :thumbsup2

I'm going to aim high (for me) and hopefully I'll get somewhere.

Thanks for hosting Rose!

Edited: starting off right 12/2- 45 min run - 45/1500
