This is first trip not leaving from Toronto but departing from Buffalo. Left Toronto for the Buffalo airport hotel in the middle of a high wind warning. Only noticed the wind while crossing the skyway bridges at Burlington and St. Catharines. Glad I do not drive a Smart car. Started to rain when I got about 15 minutes before the border. With the high winds the rain was moving sideways across the highway. There was no delay at the border. As I approached the airport there were no street or traffic lights. With a little detour I was able to find the hotel. There was a local blackout. Got checked in via flashlight The clerk pointed the way to the stairs and elevator. He said there might be a little wait for the elevator. Grabbed my suitcase an my emergency flashlight from my car and onto my room. If power was still off in the morning they would be knocked on the doors for your wake up calls. Power did come back on after about only 15 minutes. Packed the flashlight for the rest of the trip. Will make sure I have one for all future trips . Got my stuff ready for morning and noticed that I forgot to back my windbreaker jacket. I have an emergency jacket in my car. Dropped of my winter coat and picked up the jacket from the car.
The hotel clerk said that there might be a delay at the airport in the morning because that there were some flights that were cancelled on Friday night. Left for the airport earlier than planned. There was no delay at the airport. For being picked up at he hotel, drive to airport, check in and through security in a little over an half hour. As we boarded the plane the gate attendants got us all in the mood singing the Mickey Mouse Fan Club song (M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E). Arrive at Orlando ahead of time. Took about 30 minutes to check in and depart via Magic Express. The whole bus was bound for Pop Century. The check in line at the hotel was under 10 minutes and the room was ready.
Off for an evening at DTD. Picked up the tickets for MVMCP and Cirque for latter in the week. While in the lineup for the Comedy Warehouse I could not find my ticket (have not been used once). A nice CM (Frank) gave me a bracelet for the evening saying that the ticket would be found. I guess that would be considered a Year of Million Dreams Wish. I found the ticket later that evening.
Spent Saturday at Epcot. As I was approaching Spaceship Earth I noticed a family with matching t-shirts and Crocs both were lime green (could they be DISers)The first time I was on Soarin I did not notice any scents; but did on the second ride. After many trips I finally had a meal at Le Cellier started of with the cheese soup. It was not what I was expected but it was good. Ended up the meal with a chocolate moose
Monday morning went on the Yuletide Fantasy Tour. The tour went to Epcot, MGM Studios, Magic Kingdom, Grand Floridian resort and the holiday warehouse. Learnt some interesting facts and some different customs form countries around the World Showcase. The CM will Christmasfy a resort in the evening after most guests have gone to bed. The guests will wake up in the morning with all after transformations are done. They do the same think in reverse in January. Some guests try to find out what night they are doing a particular resort and wait in the lobby with their mug of hot chocolate to watch all the decoration being put up.
Tonight was the night for MVMCP. Arrived at Magic Kingdom around 4:30 Did not think about finding a spot to see the regular Wishes fireworks at 6pm. I was in Fantasyland at show time. Not the best spot to see them as some of the fireworks off the top of the buildings and others are behind our back.. Once the party started there was very little lines for any ride. Need not attempt Splash Mountain as it was on the cool side. The Holiday Wishes fireworks was great. Waiting to se the later MVMCP parade and it was not too crowded. It was cool that evening so I do not know if that was real or magical snow on Main Street.
I had tickets for Nouba Cirque du Soleil show. The show as very entertaining but I enjoyed the 2 Las Vegas (O and Mystere) more.
The Osborne lights were awesome. This year every 15 minutes or so the lights start to dance.
Friday morning I was able to join the Mousefest meet at Animal Kingdom. Need the Jungle Safari, Expedition Everest and Finding Nemo musical. I was not able to go to the mega meet on Saturday afternoon as I was flying home that day.
Ended the trip with a stop at Jellyrolls to join Karen among others for a night of entertainment. I had a great time.
Magic Express was 20 minutes late picking us up at the resort. Our was the last stop before the airport. Had plenty of time to get checked in and through security.
While driving from the hotel (lights now working) I noticed many traffic lights that I drove through the following Friday during the power failure. No delay crossing the border.
