December decorations at the WDW resort

My wife, son and I went last Saturday night to the Swan, Dolphin, YC, BC, BW to look at the decorations. I just have to say I was dissapointed this year.

The poinsettia tree in the Dolphin was hideous, the YC village was very plain and the tree seemed smaller than years past. The BC lobby looks hideous now. Whose idea were those large chairs? The BW dispaly with Mickey and Minnie was; well terrible.

Pix to follow. .. . .

You can check out 2006 Holiday Photos- I have loaded all the pics I have taken since Thanksgiving that are Christmas related. We will be hitting some of the other resorts this weekend.

Aren't those orange chairs awful? The CM member we were talking to said they had LOTS of complaints about them As soon as I saw them I thought about the new Nemo ride in EPCOT - they reminded me of the clam shells!

There are no displays at AKL or Poly this year either, another disappointment.

Well is it just me or were the Parks in general not decorated as much as in years past?

I noticed at Epcot that alot of the flowers were just your run of the mill everyday annuals in rather unChristmaslike colors. I would've thought that there would've at least been more use of red colored flowers ,at least, since is not possible or would you want everything to be poinsettas.

And also in the Magic Kingdom everything seemed a bit bland other than Main Street.

I agree that the Epcot resort hotels were very disappointing.

Haven't made it to Wilderness Lodge or Grand Floridian yet. Hope to get up there this week to check them out.

Over the years it seems to be getting less and less.

Must have used the savings to fund the dividend increase.

Maybe that's why there is no new holiday TV special this year. The custom on other parts of the Dis is to blame the dining plan for every perceived malady - who'll be the first to blame fewer Christmas decorations on the dining plan? :teeth:

I'm really hoping that Grand Floridian's gingerbread house will still be up on January first. We're planning on visiting it after breakfast at Chef Mickey's. Is the smaller one up at Yacht Club this year? I think I read that they sell smaller/cheaper gingerbread houses than at the big one at GF? Or maybe YC doesn't have it's own full-size one but do sell smaller houses... so much info to keep track of!

I had read that last year, there was a gingerbread? chocolate? Tower of Terror at the Brown Derby. Supposedly it didn't last long, in fact, some kid apparently took a bite out of it??? It was only up for a short time before being damaged, and despite much searching, I was never able to find a picture of it.

I love ToT and would have really enjoyed seening that!
