December Crowds

We are planning on going to Disney December 14th-22nd. How are the crowds usually at this time? Is this still considered a slow time, and if so, when do the crowds pick up? I was trying to be there when it was not so crowded. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

A lot depends on how Xmas falls...since it falls on a Sat this year, I would expect that the 14th through the 17 would be pretty empty (like deserted), I would imagine that the crowd would begin to pick up over the weekend before Xmas and then increase steadily all wee until Xmas.

I think if you plan right it could be the best of both worlds kind of thing... spend a lot of time in the parks and eat meals at the busiest places the first few days you are there and then slow down as the crowds increase and take in some of the special shows, hang out at the resorts etc later in the week when it is more crowded.

It is an awesome time to go, and I think crowds will be pretty managable except for the last day or 2.

My family went last year for christmas from dec.23-dec.28...I didn't notice the crowds until christmas day....But i read a thread on here some where that christmas this year will be on a saturday.....So i guess some peole think that this will make it even more busier but i don't know....

Thanks for the information. I went ahead and called and backed our ressies up to the 12th of Dec. and we will leave out on the 20th. I hadnt really looked at how Christmas falls this year so thanks for that tidbit. Hopefully this will be a better time for us to be there.

We went in Dec. 2000 from the 11th-18th- it was great. really light crowds- nice weather. The only crowded time was at mvmcp. We are going that same week this December we liked it so much!

We were there in Dec. 02 and Dec. 03 and the closer it got to X'mas the MORE crowded it got! I think generally around 20th, it starts the X'mas crowd. We went to MVMCP both times but last year, we went very close to X'mas and it was VERY crowded.

But honestly, in Dec. IMHO, the crowds aren't that bad. If you Fast Pass most the rides, you'll be ok. But the earlier you go, the less crowds there'll be. (Dec. 02 we were there Dec. 12th and we went on all the rides, most of them w/out lines!)
