Welcome Home NJParkhopper. Read your other post and glad that you've finally seen the "light" of DVC!
Early December is very, very popular at the WDW DVC's. The lower points, the holiday decorations and activities and the DVC annual meetings all combine to make this a tough time to book. But even if there is nothing available or not exactly what you want when you first call, the wait list will very often come through in time for your trip.
Thanks for the info, PamOKW! I always go down in May for 7 or 8 days but am now interested in seeing the decorations for Christmas. So the Waiting List usually works out, huh? Well, thanks again. See you around the forum!
Dec 2nd through the 7th. We originally booked a one-bedroom and then we waitlisted to add a studio for my sisters family. It came through, but it took a couple of months.
If you are thinking of going, you should ckeck availability ASAP and get your name on the waitlist if you have too.
Also, this year is Walt's 100 birthday celebration, starting in Nov and running for a while. But his actual birthday is Dec 5 and I have read that they will have special events going on that day and week. So I am sure it will be busy.
We like to go at this time of the year and have had no problems getting reservations for the Studio or One Bedroom at our home resort BWV. We also book at 11 months, and call as soon as we can, early morning, 11 months from day of checkout. If you cannot book this early, you may have difficulty as this is a popular time for DVC members although the general crowds are very light.
We tried booking at our home resort, BWV, at 9 1/2 months out (when we closed on our resale) for the week after Thanksgiving, and we're still on the waitlist.
Thanks, everyone, for the tips on December bookings. Eck45, how early do you check availability? Isn't it true that you can only get on the waiting list beginning at 11 months prior?
Hello fellow NJ DVC member;
We also recently purchased DVC at VWL after many many years of debate. I actually had the same question on December availablity. We are a family of 5 so it would appear we will have to use the 11 month window and forget about this December and focus on next year. We also tend to go down in May every year for about 10 days, sooner or later we may run into each other.
Anyway, wecome home as they say and good luck in your December quest.
We had waitlisted for a 2BR at OKW Dec 2 through 7 about 4 weeks ago (right at the 7 month window since OKW is not our home resort).
Yesterday we received our confirmation for the room. It was dated 5/31.
So the wait list worked for us as well.
BUT... now we are looking to move the trip up by about a month or more (to late October) because we found out last week that my wife is pregnant with our firs child.
So anyone on the Wait List for OKW 2BR that week will move up a notch as soon as I call member services to cancel.
I am on the waitlist for 12-2 thru 12-7 at the BWV and OKW, whichever comes in first. The waitlist has worked for me in the past, so I've got my fingers crossed. I do have backup cash ressies at CR and AKL, just in case.
We tried to book a 2 bdrm at the 7 month window for OKW and BWV for the first week of December. It was all booked up, so we just moved back to the last week of November and had no problem. I love Christmas at WDW!
