We just closed on a SSR contract yesterday (took sellers almost 3 weeks to send back docs). My question is, we were hoping to go from Dec. 20-25. What are the chances we can get in anywhere since we probably won't be able to make a reservation for another 1-2 weeks at minimum. We are fine with SSR, but were hoping to stay somewhere else. We are also open to doing a split stay.

I read in one of the discussions that Disney sends a one time activation email. Has anyone else received this? Can you make reservations once you get that email?

You can get a 1 bedroom at Saratoga, Old Key West, and Boardwalk for those dates right now, and partial availability at pretty much all the other resorts if you want to do a split stay. If you're not picky about resort, I'd say chances of something being available are good, though it might be Saratoga.

They don't typically do that. They send your activation codes in the US Mail. Some folks have been able to get a CM to give them their member ID on the phone, but it's hard because they're not supposed to. You might have luck with a strategy (which I have not yet tried, but I was told by a CM would work) of faxing them a request to add a password to your account when they create it, or asking your title company to send it to Disney along with your deed. That way you can get your member ID over the phone because you'll already have the account password.

Here's the post where I talk about that strategy:

Good luck!

I've also recently found that it's now nearly impossible to get to member admin...they just re-direct you to MS. I thought I had sorted out a deed snaffoo issue but had only spoken to MS who really didn't know what I was talking about. Even when I finally asked to be transferred to member admin, they still sent me to another MS person. I think, after 3 calls and several transfers, I finally have it sorted out. But it almost made me have a new separate member number for my 50 point HH add on (same UY). And they all, MS and admin, kept re-iterating that it would take 2 weeks to get the contract transferred to us and loaded (they seemed to think I was calling to harass them about getting me access to my points ASAP, when all I wanted to do was inform them of a name deed error to make sure they did NOT give us a new member #).

I digress. OP, we closed on 6/5 and do not have the points yet...they said next week and then (for new members such as yourself) it takes another 7-10 days to get your member number letter in the mail. So, you're looking at 3 weeks or longer before you can book. But, I agree with PP that you should be able to get some sort of reservation for Dec 20-25 (by the way, that's when we're going too). Congrats and welcome home!!!

Very excited to say that the add on contract was loaded today (no points yet, but that usually takes 1/2 day to a day longer)...and it is under our existing member number...yay!!! So, 10 days after closing and I should get the member # letter in the mail in another week. This is the exact timeline we had with our AKV add on in March. So, OP you may have just another 16 days...fingers crossed that it's 16 or less for you!

You don't need to wait if it was added on to the other member contract...there will be no separate number/password required

You are new on the DVC Boards. The DIS moderators have asked us not to check availability for someone unable to book immediately because there really isn't any point. And anyone who can book should be able to do so themselves, either on line or by calling Member Services.

thanks for the info. I wasn't looking for anyone to check availability, just for feedback from those that have gone at that time. I am going to try calling Disney today about that password thing.
