I can't believe I'm posting this but...is it important to get ADRs for December (12-18)? I'm going with the kind of people who are shocked that I'm wanting to plan restaurants 8 months in advance, so I'm worried that we'll get there and plans will change.

We will be there Dec. 15-21, and I will definately make ADR's on June 18th (the 180 day mark!). I would say with the popularity of the DDP it would be very wise to make sure you have them! :santa:

I'm going to be there around that time, and yes, am making ADRs too.

I may not make them all, but I will make the important ones that we want to go to.

I'm still up in the air about DDP, so that will influence my decision as well.

If there is anywhere special you want to go, please make that ADR. Things like Chef Mickey and Ohana book quickly!

When we were there last December 9-16th, we had a hard time getting into all our first choice restaurants, but we weren't completely shut out. I think if you know where you definitely want to go on which days, you might as well book it. That way, you won't have any worries about not getting in...

I don't think you need to call at the 180 mark, but definitely make them within a few months of your trip. I've had no problems making Dec ADRs even a week before our trip, but have seen people turned away because places are booked. Of course, if you want to eat at a hard-to-get place like CRT or Le Cellier, then you should call at 180 days.

We are gonna be there Dec 15-22 at the POP and I plan on making my ADRs at the 180 day mark so that I will get the times and places that I want. That way we don't miss out on the Le Cellier and O'hanas.

We (DW, DD10, DD14 and me the DH) will be there from 6 to 16 December. I have pretty much planned everything out including ADRs. So we must all be mad to plan so far in advance :)

We are from South Africa and this not just a vacation for us but a major VACATION :) We need to plan a lot more in terms of VISAs, Airfares and the like. We are not only doing Disney but also a Caribean Cruise and Skiing in Steamboat , CO after Disney...

BTW. I am looking to share an illuminations cruise in that range of dates? Any takers?

I totally agree. Last year we could make them a couple of days ahead for most places but the more popular places were alot harder. This year I'll call in August/September for some ADR's.

I always go in early Dec and make sure I get all my ADR's....I have seen too many people turned away (walkins). No matter what month we go we always make ADR's

I believe that in December it is very important (though your week is just prior to the VERY busy season). I will say that I am the type of person though that will make my ADR's on my 180th day no matter when we are going to the World. We are going from Dec 22 - Jan 1 and I have my ADR date marked on my calendar to call at 7am.

GOOD LUCK!

Missie

When adding the DDP on to my reservation, the CM told me to definately make my ADR's EARLY, which I already knew that. I've had the DDP for the past 2 years and have learned to call at the 180 day mark. When you call at the 180 day mark, you're 98% guaranteed the places and times you want, with the exception of CRT breakfast.

I like to plan. I am a planning Nazi!!! When planning, it takes my mind off the vacation being so far away!!! But I would definately advise you to make your ADR's at the 180 day mark.

I would also definitely recommend making ADRs. We were there last year the first week in Dec. For our lunch at LeCellier, we saw many people turned away and the hostess was saying they were booked solid for the entire day. Later that evening, for dinner at Chefs de France before the Candlelight Processional, there were quite a few people being turned away. One man came up to the podium and said this was their third restaurant they'd been to that was booked for the evening. They were a party of 6, and had an elderly couple with them. I really felt sorry that they were walking around looking for a nice dinner.

For our upcoming trip in July, I have one table service ADR for each day we are there - either at lunch or dinner. That way, I know we'll have our favorites - and at a decent time!

Enjoy your stay!!! Disney at Christmas is beautiful!!!!!

HA- We are not going until Dec 2008 and I already have our ADR's planned out, what parks we are going to on what days ect... Once I get it in my head that we are going to Disney I go CRAZY planning everything... then I watch the boards like crazy to get info from all of you to make sure I have the best Resis and get any inside details. The one thing that I am still debating on is the Princess Storybook Dinner or Breakfast. Last year we went to the PSB Dinner (it was a complete surprise to my DD5) and we were seated right next to the door where the Princess' came out of.. OMG I thought she was going to fall out of her chair when Belle walked out of the door then when Princess Aurora walked out that was it for dinner. She was not eating another bite she was just so excited. The best part was right after dinner we were able to walk outside of the Castle resturant and the fireworks started. My DD5 grabed my hand and pulled me down to her, gave me the biggest hug and said "you did good mom, it was the best surprise ever". I still get teary eyed just thinking about it.. It was a VERY magical night. Actually the dinner part was not bad our waitress substitued quite a bit of our meal for us so we knew what we were eating and it was good. The cold Buffet was not that great. I don't know if I want to give up having dinner then coming right outside for fireworks or getting to the park in time for breakfast....
Epcot is going to be the park we go to on our last day so I am leaning towards dinner and fireworks to end a magical vacation...
