December 7 2006 Wonder Sailing

Hanover ~ you beat me to it, I wanted to be the first to post today. One more month to go.

Here's my info to continue the list:

Tyty (Paula) and DS10 (Tyler) cruising with friend Dawn and her DS8 (Matt). Arriving at AKL on 12/2. DS and I are in stateroom 6066 with early seating.

Hanover (Danielle) cruising with DH(Derek), DS9 (Keegan), DS5 (Brennan) currently in stateroom 6060/late dining/staying at CSR before cruise

Hanover's parents Jim and Suzanne
currently in GTY category 6/late dining/ staying near the port the night before

TYTY- I work from home and my personal computer is right next to my work one and I have a hard time not responding to Dis notifications. I'm really not on here all the time though I never seem to remember to log out. I actually love surfing the restaurant board after the DCL one. I love eating at the parks as much as touring them.

For those of you doing MVMCP are you doing a TS that night for dinner? We currently have a 5:10 ADR at WCC at the WL and we are seriously considering skipping it in favor of hitting MK at 4 and just doing CS at Cosmic Rays. When I made the ADR, I had no idea you could actually get in to MK at 4 since the CM I spoke with months ago said you had to have an ADR at LTT or Tony's to get in before 7PM. I found out just the other day that's not the case. I'd hate to spend time waiting for our table, an hour or so eating plus transportation time when we are only going to MK that night and could use that extra time on rides and seeing Wishes. Then again, I really wanted to see the WL decorated for Christmas and ds9 loves WCC. We get in at MCO at 11 something and I'm sure we'll be heading straight to CSR. There's no doubt the boys will be starving so we'll probably just eat at the resort's food court. I'm hoping the boys will rest up because it will be a late night (I'm sure I'm kidding myself!) I guess we could always check out the WL on the 11th before we fly home that evening. We made ADR's for breakfast at Ohana so we can check out the Poly too. There never seems to be enough time to do half of what you want in Orlando. All the more reason to book another trip!

TYTY if you see our Mickey door magnets with the boys names on them on our stateroom door a few rooms down from yours, stop and say hi. We're still holding out for a starboard room, but won't complain about 6060 if we can't get one. Seems like a great location on the ship! DS9 is incredibly shy but loves sports if either Tyler or Matt are into them. Will they be going to the Oceaneer's lab?

You guys are fast! Here are my additions to the list:

Tyty (Paula) and DS10 (Tyler) cruising with friend Dawn and her DS8 (Matt). Arriving at AKL on 12/2. DS and I are in stateroom 6066 with early seating.

Hanover (Danielle) cruising with DH(Derek), DS9 (Keegan), DS5 (Brennan) currently in stateroom 6060/late dining/staying at CSR before cruise

Hanover's parents Jim and Suzanne
currently in GTY category 6/late dining/ staying near the port the night before

Diznyfan68 (Lorri), cruising with DH (Pete), DS11 (Joe). Arriving at AKL 12/2. Currently in stateroom 5122 with late seating. DH and DS don't know that we are staying at AKL an extra night - they think we are at POP. I can't wait to surprise them!

Hanover,
We are doing the MVMCP on 12/4 but because we are going to be at AK that day we are doing dinner at Rain Forest Cafe - also I couldn't get us in at LTT which is were we usually eat at MVMCP.

We should be getting our cruise doc's soon - my understanding is that they start to go out around day 28 (Thursday) but that they might not be sent until just a few days before.

Can't wait for the fun to begin.

What a surprise for your DH and DS! We really, really love AKL. I tried to get us a standard room in the WL but haven't been able to do so over the last several months. We've never stayed there but have loved it since our first time eating at WCC. We are trying out CSR for the first time.

LTT has also been impossible for us to an ADR since the get go of buying our MVMCP tickets a few months back. It is our first MVMCP because the last time we were at WDW at Christmas the kids were too young to stay up that late. I'm worried about them making it so late this time too. I'm hoping they'll run on adrenaline since it will be the first day of our trip. Based on your experience with eating at LTT on MVMCP nights, do you think you spent a lot of time eating there and how were the crowds? I'm sure if we keep our 5:10 ADR we wouldn't get in until 5:20 or so and wouldn't be out of there until at least 6:30 and then if we were lucky and the boats were running, would take until just after 7 to get to MK. I'm honestly thinking we'll be much better off just sticking with CS that night. If we were going to MK another day, I'd go without a doubt to WCC, but we are cramming so much in the 2 days before the cruise as it is. I want to go to Epcot on 12/6 to see the new Nemo ride, do Test Track, Soarin and the green Misison Space line and see some of the different Santas in the World Showcase. We want to also see the Christmas themed parade at AK. I'm sure there will be no fast passes available for Everest or the Safari at that point so we'll probably just let the boys play in the boneyard or see a show and then head to the Grand Floridian for dinner. I have always wanted to see the gingerbread house there after seeing the Travel Channel special they did on it.

I can't wait to get our documents either. We still haven't gotten our AAA resort paperwork either, but we did get our MVMCP tickets a while back. They are the old Happiest Celebration on Earth ones. The new MVMCP tickets some Dis members have posted pictures for YOMD look awesome. I hope our KTTW cards look like those! On our last cruise we got our papers about 3 weeks early, but in 2/2005 we got them with less than a week and a half before the cruise after lots of calling and panic! We were doing a land/sea vacation and were afraid we wouldn't get them in time. We did the 3 day parks /4 day cruise package and a couple days at Sea World and Universal before hand.

current list minus my blabbing:

Tyty (Paula) and DS10 (Tyler) cruising with friend Dawn and her DS8 (Matt). Arriving at AKL on 12/2. DS and I are in stateroom 6066 with early seating.

Hanover (Danielle) cruising with DH(Derek), DS9 (Keegan), DS5 (Brennan) currently in stateroom 6060/late dining/staying at CSR before cruise

Hanover,
If I couldnt' get a ADR for one of the TS rest's in the park, I would probably skip the TS and do CS that night. DS was 6 the first time we went and he was fine staying to the end but the next day was pretty beat. THe crowds actually weren't that bad - we were able to walk on to most rides and in fact there were several that the CM's let us stay on and ride multiple times in a row. I'm hoping that this will be the case this time!

Thanks for the reply about doing a TS dinner during MVMCP. I may still try and get us into LTT. I did get an offer of 9:40PM! CP had no available ADR's and there was one ADR at Tony's available at 7:40 but I didn't take it. If LTT isn't available, we'll probably have a larger lunch at the Pepper Market at CSR and do something on the lighter side at Cosmic Rays. The boys want to do as many rides as possible. I'll tell my ds9 maybe we'll stop by the WL on 12/11 and do milkshakes at WCC. We'll be there next year in December so we can always wait...

ADD ME TOO!

Sandra04 (Sandra...big surprise) cruising with DH (Fresh), DD8 (Miranda) & DD11 (Shaina). Arriving at OKW 12/3. Stateroom #2628.

Let the 1 month countdown begin!

Sandra04- you are really close! What day are you flying out? We are staying near the airport the night of 12/4 since we have a 9 AM flight and didn't feel like panicking in standstill rush hour traffic to get there by 7AM. Also makes the vacation feel like it starts sooner! We are flying out the morning of the 5th and will do MVMCP that night and hop between Epcot and AK (for the parade) on 12/6.

We love Southwest and their Ding rates. We've managed to get them on our last 3 WDW trips (one was only $34 each way!) and end up with so much credit we're always looking to book another WDW trip just to use it.

I'm sure we'll be at the Mickey pool as soon as we board and eat. We may be wearing our matching blue Castaway Cay shirts. Disney is the only place we've ever all worn them on the same day and at least we aren't clashing in pictures from that day!

How about we make a list of all our current thread members and who we are cruising with.

If you want, cut and paste the following and add your own information so we can get an updated list:

Hanover (Danielle) cruising with DH(Derek), DS9 (Keegan), DS5 (Brennan) currently in stateroom 6060/late dining/staying at CSR before cruise

Hanover's parents Jim and Suzanne
currently in GTY category 6/late dining/ staying near the port the night before

Yes, we ARE close! We are flying on 12/3 and staying at OKW until the cruise. We are also doing MVMCP 12/5 and decided to do lunch (ADR at Crystal Palace) and just counter service for the party.

We'll be staying an extra night AFTER the cruise at Pop Century before heading home on 12/11.

Great idea matching to board the Wonder! We'll be looking for the blue shirts!

Looks like we are actually going to be coming in Monday night now. We decided if we were going to stay overnight near BWI, we may as well be in Florida. DH called WDW reservations last night and though we couldn't get a reservation at CSR, we did get into POR. It's a lot cheaper to stay there than at the Sheraton at BWI! Our only inconvenience will be having to go back to the airport to get our SUV on Tuesday. We used Priceline and got a great deal for the 6 days but when we added the extra day and requested Alamo, we got Budget. Oh well. At least we'll be there!

I haven't been to CP for lunch yet, but we sure love their dinner!

Hanover ~ I also surf the restaurant boards, actually I surf quite a few of the boards!

We are doing the MVMCP on the 4th. The kids are doing the Grand Floridian Pirate Cruise in the morning then were hopping over to AK for a bit and then back to AKL to change and then get back to MK between 4pm - 5pm before it starts to get crazy. We'll probably just grab something quick to eat.

Tyler and Matt both love baseball ~ actually Tyler's team just won the tournament they played in last week. Yes, they will both be in the lab, they're both already registered.

Diznyfan68 ~ we're also arriving at AKL on 12/2. Woo hoo....we can't wait

The kids will LOVE the pirate cruise. Our boys did one at the Yacht and Beach Club in August 2005 (I tried the GF but it was booked for months and only ever had one cancellation) and had a blast. I gave them disposable cameras to take pictures of the clues, etc and it was great seeing the trip from their point of view. DH and I went to the Boardwalk and Epcot. The "pirates" came ashore while we were in Canada (we hid so they didn't see us) and they were so cute to see walking by everyone saying "argh!"

Keegan loves baseball too. He didn't play fall ball so he could play football, but does play in the spring. His Cal Ripken 9&under traveling all star team made it to the Pennsylvania State Finals championship but they lost in extra innings this past August. He plays catcher and short stop. He loves any sport really. He does wrestling in the winter but also loves basketball, bowling, gymnastics, swimming and soccer. His brother is the same and desperately tries to keep up.

We registered our boys for the lab/club too. They've always had a great time going to them and are really looking forward to the trip.

I just finished rebooking the airline tickets for a day earlier than our other ones. Fortunately we were able to get the ding rate for them. It is so nice to have one less day to count! My DH was teasing that soon we'll be leaving on Saturday instead of Monday. We were originally going Wednesday morning, then Tuesday, now Monday. We also added an overnight stay on the 10th.

Hanover,
I was just over on the DCL site and there are about 8 cat.6 cabins that are now open for our cruise - maybe your parent's cabin assignment has come through.

I checked for their room yesterday afternoon on DCL.com and they did have one listed...I think it's 5644... it was 4th from the back on Starboard.

I wonder if anyone on our cruise has received any free upgrades yet? We never have, but it would be nice.

I put my ds9's navy blue blazer on him today to make sure it still fit and wouldn't you know it's up to his wrist and tight across his shoulders! The first and last time he wore it was on our May cruise. I thought at first I gave him ds5's by accident. Looks like they'll just be wearing button down shirts or polo's on semi formal night because I'm certainly not buying another one for him to wear once and outgrow. I guess he better try on his khaki's too in case I need to go out and buy him some new ones.

They are on the same deck we are - we're in 5122.

I know what you mean about the clothes - I bought DS a couple of pair of pants over the summer and they were long on him. I had him try them on last weekend and they were above his ankles!

I was planning on bringing a dress shirt and tie for him for semi-formal night. I figure he can wear it again for Christmas.

I'm rather torn about the upgrade - on the one hand I think it would be great to be in bigger room, on the other I really like our room location. Of course, if we did receive one I wouldn't turn it down!

Just an FYI for everyone - our cruise leaves 4 weeks from today! :cool1:

I just heard back from our TA at Dreams Unlimited...we got moved to 6542 and my parents got 6580 from AAA. It's nice to now be on the same floor and both midship and starboard. That really makes my day. I noticed that the 8 category 6 rooms they had available were the ones that were on travelosity before. I was hoping they'd go back to DCL.

At the rate my ds9 is growing (he's only 68 pounds but about 54 or 55 inches) I'll have to bring a short sleeve shirt to make sure the sleeves aren't too short on him. I got worried and made him try on some dress shirts and it seems like his barely used long sleeve ones we bought him before school started are showing his wrist bones already. DS5, on the other hand, is very tiny and finally wearing a size 5! I guess DH and I better try on our own clothes to make sure they fit too. We have yet to even think about what we are packing for dinners.

Does anyone know if you can buy Mickey ties at any of the WDW parks? My parents had someone make Mickey bow ties and cummerbunds for their tuxes on the 7 day formal night and we don't have time for the same guy to make ties. I'd love to find some and can't find any anywhere.

We had our parent/teacher end of the first marking period conferences last night and today and told them we'd be on vacation. Luckily our school system is great about families taking vacations and the teachers have always been great about make up work. I was told they have unlimited excused days as long as they are not truant and get good grades. We have to submit official excuse forms for them in another 2 weeks. The boys have not missed a day so far this school year and will miss 5 in December. It was cute reviewing ds9's 12 page story he wrote about his Disney cruise surprise for his last birthday. His teacher said they had to write about a vacation they took over the last year and most kid's stories were 2 to 3 pages long. Keegan's was only up to day 2 of his trip. It really surpised me that he remembered so many little details. He's so shy and you have to generally quiz him to find out about what he's doing in school. He didn't even mention he'd written the story. DS5 had drawn a cute picture in his "kid-writing" journal of a Disney Cruise ship and spelled out "I love the Disney Crus." DCL really has a way of addicting young and old!
