Disney just posted December 4 has a special ticketed event at California Adventure in the evening. Anyone know what it is?

Where are you seeing this. There's nothing mentioned on the Hours/Events Calendar.

Thanks, I can now see that on the webpage you need to look on the left hand side and not under the heading of "Events" in the main section. Thanks for the heads up, may need to change my plans yet again. Had planned to park hop here in the evening but that may be a bad idea now.

Also noticed December 2, 3, and 4 Storybook Canal boats, and the Casey Junior train are now under refurbishment.

The wintertime enchantment castle lighting and small world holiday lighting shows are not happening those days 😢

I know, I am so angry that they did not release all of this at the 60 day mark. I have already made all my dining reservations but now may want to change park days etc to try and work around all this. Seriously I chose this time of year to go so that I wouldn't have to deal with refurbs. Perhaps this is a reflection that they expect this first week of December to have lower crowds, which is why I chose it. I bet it won't be the case though knowing my luck. It will probably be wall to wall people. We are coming all the way from Australia and it is so hard when you plan a whole year in advance and then things go awry especially when you know you won't be back for quite a few years. Easier if you are a local and know you can check these things out on other days, months or years. >:(

We are doing a one-nighter on December 4th... ugh! Have to change some things around. Nice late notice :(

If it is an after hours “private event” will it effect the park during normal hours?

I think we were there last year and didnt notice any difference during the day except for setting up their special promotion booths and i think they were broadcasting frim the park during the day...seems to be annual thing for that station.

Crowds couldnt come in until event opened.

Oh thats good to know. I have an evening scheduled at DCA that night and was considering changing it but if the special event people can't come in till 9:00 that will be fine. We will be finished up by then. I was worried they might start filtering in late afternoon like they do for OBB but this sounds manageable.

No, it wasnt like OBB at all but of course, i guess if people had MKs AND won tickets from the radio station, theoretically they could be there early. But as I recall, we went on RSR after dark then beat it over to DL for fireworks.

So, I've attended before and in the past, you were let in exactly at 9pm. Recently, they've changed to letting winners go in at 6pm, due to the festival of the holidays. Going in at 9pm, everything was closed practically food wise. 6pm gives you access to food. This year it's 6pm entry: https://kost1035.iheart.com/rules/

Oh nooooo. Thanks for letting me know that means I will definitely have to change my night to be in DL rather than DCA. OMG the planning of this trip is becoming a nightmare. Now I am going to have to try and change my dining plans but I just know everything will be booked out. I am so angry with Disney not releasing all this stuff till so late.

It’s maddening to have to redo everything, I’m so sorry.

Thanks for the post...good to hear from someone who actually has done the event!

I'm just glad we moved our trip to a later date when A) this event will be past, B) Candlelight Processional will be over, C) all lower tier keys are blocked, and D) vacation breaks havent started.
Hopefully, this will make for less crowds!

How many people actually attend the event? Is it as many as attend Oogie Boogie?

I think you should write Disney and express your frustration. If they're going to get involved with contests like this that would alter their regular schedule, they should plan it far enough in advance that it doesn't affect regular visitors. It's not like this is some last minute emergency-related change of plans such as after a distaster, hurricane, loss of electricity, etc. Some changes such as those would be due to circumstances beyond anyone's control and would be easier to accept.
Crap like this just says "money talks".
