December 2024 Check In Thread

We are travelling from Australia for a long US trip over our Summer holidays, and we will be in Anaheim from the 15th to 27th of Dec. Splitting our stay between DI&S and Pixar Place. This is our first time back since 2018, and we have missed Disneyland (and visiting the States in general!) so much. Can't wait to be immersed in everything again.

I will be there mid December with my mom and sister for our annual girls’ trip. We will be staying at the Villas at Disneyland Hotel and are looking forward to all the holiday magic. But most importantly we are fulfilling my mom’s request to be at Disneyland on her actual birthday!

Going for my annual Christmas sister trip Dec 12--16! We're staying at GCH, our go-to for Christmas. Used SW points for our flights which helps offset the hotel prices! Hopefully, they'll have the usual hotel sale for that time but who knows?

Trying to think of something new to get this year. Last year, we did the WOC Dessert package. We've been doing this trip for years so we're running out of firsts! Open to suggestions 😊

We were at DLR two years ago and did a LOT of rides and visited quite a few characters but we didn't really take in any shows, parades etc so this trip is all about slowing down and enjoying all the holiday offerings, parades, entertainment and decorations. My adult son will be joining my daughter and I for the first time in over a decade and he is a keen photographer so we will make sure he has plenty of time to snap all the colourful holiday decor and places like Carsland & Batuu, lands that weren't here on his last visit. I can't wait to see the parks through his eyes (he is neurodivergent & suffers from ADHD) so this will be a very different trip from last time as we cater to his needs and change our touring style to suit him but it is going to be so much fun. I can't wait.

Looking forward to our trip with family ( 10 of us this time!! ) we'll be there between Dec. 1st - 6th for 5 park days. We're staying at Desert Inn across the street. We have a couple that have never been to any disney parks and second time for Niece and her kids, so it will be fun and exciting! Of course we always have fun and enjoy Christmas decorations!

My husband and I are going to be there right before Christmas 😬

I haven't been since the late 80s (was born in California so grew up going there, but have lived in the South for a while now so WDW is our usual go-to). My husband has never been. We're staying at the Tropicana.

Since we go to WDW so often and since it's the weekend before Christmas, we have set just a few priorities - stuff we don't have in WDW really. We do have multi pass or whatever it's called now so that should help.

So excited to find this thread here! There doesn't seem to be quite as much planning required this far in advance for DLR so checking in here will hopefully ease that compulsion.

Is it weird that I know what I will be wearing 4 months from now? 🤣

I totally get the outfit choices. I am a complete overplanner but for me having multiple packing and prep lists is part of the excitement. It also helps me buy things I know that we will need well in advance, for example this time round I need ponchos for everyone just in case it rains. I'm also going to get some noise reducing earplugs for my two adult neuro divergent kids so that they can tune out if it all gets too much. I also need to get some blow up cushions for extra comfort at Fantasmic and I am even going all out and taking some tinsel to decorate my hired ECV which should make it easier to find if cast members move it. Counting down the days and getting sooo excited.

Same! Planning is half the fun, right?

I am also struggling with prioritizing what I need to pack. We drive to WDW so I don't really have to think about having room. I will not be able to take 6 pairs of ears and 4 loungefly for example 😳

:rotfl2:I am sooo undecided about what bag/backpack to take. One of my favourite rides that I know a lot of other people either hate or don't see the appeal of, is Goofy's Sky School. My adult daughter and I just squeal and laugh ourselves silly on that ride but the vehicles are really squishy with very little leg room. You just can't fit a large back pack or bag under your feet but there are quite a few necessities I need to take into the park each day so I do need something fairly substantial. Oh well I shall keep researching and I am bound to come up with something. The fact it needs to be Disneyfied does make it a lot harder though. :earseek:

I think it's nice to have a locker. It's not that expensive and you can use it for whatever you buy or the things you may want later but don't need to carry around all day. You could have a smaller bag with you when you do that part of DCA and grab the bigger backpack later. It's nice that they have lockers in each park and in the esplanade.

Are you kidding? I’ve been working on ears all summer…also cross stitching some special shirts! Plus searching mercari and eBay for vintage Disney Christmas clothes..scored a really cool shirt with all the characters for $3!!

Half the fun is finding/planning your outfits!

Oh, what a great idea!!! I'd love to see the shirts you're embroidering and the character shirt from eBay!!

Will post once I finish Eeyore’s candy cane! 😊
I made each of my girls a Mexican-style embroidered blouse and on my oldest's I put a hidden Mickey since she works there :) I also made one for myself but at the time, I didn't think of putting a hidden Mickey on it. Maybe I'll have to add one!

I remember when you shared those beautiful photos! I will tell you right now…my handwork is not even close to yours! Those shirts were GORGEOUS! I think I posted a pic last year of my Pooh Christmas denim shirt…I have since added to it with a Piglet and Eeyore holding candy canes. If I get busy, I going to add a Mickey one on the back of a similar denim shirt that has Mickey and Minnie on the front…I have good intentions but we’ll see how much I get done :rotfl2:

I did manage to score the Mickey Santa Loungefly backpack…the red velvet one. My BFF made us ears to go with them ( I got her one too) but she won’t show them to me yet…they’re a Christmas surprise!

My DH, DS (3) planned a trip for 12/29-1/2. We are staying at VDH in the garden studios, I am excited for a balcony or patio even though I have heard they can be noisy. I talked my parents into going and they are staying in a VDH studio. They haven't been since 2000 and have never been to DCA! There isn't availability for VDH for New Year's soI have rooms waitlisted (they can stay with us if it doesn't come through as my son still can squeeze into a crib/pack n play). Excited to start planning a low key Christmas trip!

That sounds like a perfectly magical Christmas for you and your little one! Took my son at same age to WDW with my folks and it’s a great bunch of memories!

I won a Disneyland vacation package from a local radio station morning show. Was totally shocked. It includes accommodations at the new DVC tower in a preferred view deluxe studio. We're going 12/10-12/13 and super excited. Haven't been to Disneyland for the holidays in a really long time and will be my daughter's (2) second trip. We took her when she was 1 and had a great time (she enjoyed it waaaaaaay more than we thought she would), excited to see how she does. She's super into to Mickey and Minnie.

I'm at that point where I've planned as much as I can but want to do more. lol Is it too soon to get a Christmas in-room celebration? ;)

My mom just surprised me with a all expenses paid trip the first week of December. She's paying. I'm planning.

I just went in May for my birthday and wasn't expecting/planning on another trip for at least a few years. After this my next trip might not be until the 75th.
