Christmas week is their busiest time of the year. They actually close some wdw parks because they are full. Waiting lines are crazy like 4+ hours. If you want the Christmas experience and not the price go the first 2 weeks in December. Normally they tape the Christmas parade for tv in these weeks. If you talk to the resort staff they will give you the heads up where the stars are staying ( we saw Celine one year) and when the parade is being taped. Just as fun and half the price and frustration.

Hi All - we have been going th past 8 years in the month of December (either first or second week)- awesome time to be there . If dates are flexible for people, I would recommend that you try to avoid the week when pop warner cheerleading takes place. We booked a jump back offer this past Dec for 2014 - Dec 12-20 offer was 30% off moderate rooms. The CM that we spoke with was so nice. She actually said that even if free dining is offered, the cost woudl be less expensive with the 30% room rate. Does anyone have any thoughts on room discount vs. free dining?

You didn't say how many are in your party? You also didn't say what resort your staying at . For my family of 7 with everyone on the adult plan FD is always a better discount .

It's been 2 years... so we've been bitten by the Disney bug again! Hoping to go the first full week of December like we have in previous years. Dec 8-14. I've v been away from planning for so long, so much to catch up on!
Hoping for a good discount on deluxe resort. Contemporary was worth every penny last time, compared to our first trip at all stars movies.

Just returned yesterday from a budget large family trip to WDW. We are hoping to return to WDW over Christmas break and go all out! Free dining would make this a definite, so hoping they offer it again. 2 years ago we went over Christmas and New Years with free dining, it was great, hoping to do it again!

Just booked mine. Dec 14-19, now praying for free dining.

We just booked our trip for Dec. 15th-19th as well. We will arrive the day before, Dec. 14th, and stay the day after, Dec. 20th, off site. We consider those travel days so we don't want to pay full Disney prices when we won't utilize the full benefit of those days. We will do Downtown Disney on our arrival day the 14th and we plan to outlet shop in Orlando on the 20th. We are excited!! Happy planning!

It means that no discounts are provided for these days. They are excluded from discounts offered.

Forgive me everyone for i'm a newb when it comes to the promotions and discounts, but if I book a package now for sometime in Decemer and a promotion comes out later in the year, can I take advantage of that deal, or am I stuck with whatever rate at the time I booked it at?

you can book now and add any discount you qualify for without a fee 45+ days before arrival... There will be a small fee if you add a discount after your 45 day mark but I have never had a discount come out for my dates that close to my arrival.
