**December 2012 Roll Call** Holidays, FLE Opening & MVMCP!! A very, merry thread!

Thanks everyone for the replies! I wasn't thinking it was a big deal either at first ... I just remember reading a few people on other threads get very uppity about trying to get free cupcakes more than once or something. Has nothing to do with that - we are on the dining plan and get more desserts than we know what to do with - it's about making a kid feel special! So thanks for making me feel better about it.

While on the subject of birthdays ...what do you do about your other child(ren)? My kids aren't spoiled, and I never have a problem with one getting jealous when the other gets presents, etc (my girls are 5 and 8), but I have to admit it's seeming unfair. This will be the 3rd year in a row that my youngest has celebrated her birthday at Disney World. It's just the most convenient time of year for us to travel - her birthday is really just a coincidence. I'd like to do something special for my oldest though, who never complains about her sister getting the birthday button and getting all the special birthday wishes through the park (her only complaint came when we let DD pick out her birthday present in downtown disney and she wanted something too ... and of course we got her souvenirs too).

Anyway, I'd love to think of something special to do for her too when we're there. Any ideas?

We are in a very similar situation, actually! Our children are 9 and almost 6 years old. We have celebrated our oldest daughters' birthday in Disney twice already. Our youngest one is always asking us when we are going to celebrate her birthday at Disney, which will probably never happen because she was born in July and it's just too hot and humid for us to tackle Disney during the summer months. So, I've decided that for our trip in December I am going to let her pick her favorite restaurant which I will attach her birthday as the celebration to, so she will be able to feel special as well. I will make that whole day her 'birthday' at Disney, letting her wear one of those birthday badges as well as letting her decide on the rides etc for the whole day.

My thoughts exactly on the CP. On the ticker problem I think it is the ticker - we have the same one and mine is really really moving slowly.

I am just jealous that yours seems to be working better than mine:) Just waiting on 1 more adr (Be Our Guest) and we have no further plans to make...now what?

Called again today to ask about the sleigh ride, was told they are still not sure if they will be offered this year. I am really hoping they are. This is our 1st time going in December and we were really looking forward to it. Fingers crossed :thumbsup2

What are your high-level plans for your trip? Anything in particular?

Nothing super specific except I definitely want to go to the party and tour the resorts, because no one I've traveled with before really cared about seeing the other resorts. Super excited about the Osborne lights too! Mostly I'm jazzed about being by myself and doing whatever I want!

I'd like to see some of the Christmas decorations at the resorts. Any must see recommendations?

BW, BC, YC, CR, Poly, GF, WL, AKL -- they all do big Christmas trees, floral arrangements, several do gingerbread decorations

Other resorts do stuff too, but these seem to be the most popular ones to visit.

Anxiously awaiting the Disney Parks Blog to post today about Be Our Guest!! Must stop hitting refresh button. Someone on a BoG related thread called Dis Dining this morning and they did not have information about ADRs etc. So we all await Disney to update their blog. Let's all wake up Jennifer and get her to post!! :rotfl:

I tried to book online this morning, and BOG wasn't an option. :sad2: We are going to trade out our Plaza lunch ADR for lunch at BOG. Didn't I read where lunch will just be CS anyway? Will it be a character dinner? I guess we'll have to try it out next trip if we don't score this time! :headache:

I'm glad to hear you say this ... I had toyed with this idea too and just didn't know how "wrong" it would be perceived as. I think we're going to do that too though - and combine it with the previous poster's idea of celebrating an "un-birthday". My oldest's bday always falls during Spring Break here, so technically we could travel to Disney then, but I have no desire to go during that mess, or deal with the heat. I'm glad we have figured out a way to solve this! It's no fair for one of them. to feel continuously slighted year after year.

I wish they would make the announcement already! I'm nervous! And of course I have a meeting in an hour, so I'm convinced that is when they will do it!!

Hi there, we will be at the Polynesian December 9 - 14. Early December is one of our favorite times at WDW.

Anxiously awaiting new on Be Our Guest, looking forward to seeing the new Fantasyland.

I am now officially a resort changer. When I first reserved our trip only ASMu and ASSports were available. I called today to add our flight info and thought what the heck let's see if any other value resorts are available with my pin code..........And PoP was. I'm so excited. This was my first choice back when I booked back in April so I'm super happy to get it now.

This trip has definitely been filled with pixiedust: and I'm still 163 days away!

We will be there December 24-31. Taking the Autotrain down and staying at Windsor Hills. I have my ADR made for the 24th, now I have to be up early every morning this week to get the rest of them!! So exciting!!!

Hi, pretty new around here. I will be heading down to WDW on Dec 8-15. Super excited, it'll be DH & my 3rd visit together (last in December 2009, before that July 2007 for our honeymoon). Also it will be my DD's first visit (she will be turning 2 just a few days before we leave) and my Mom and Step dad will be joining us, also for their first visit. My mom's birthday is the day we leave Disney, but she said that was fine, as long as she was there on her birthday, even if just a few hours. :) We are staying at CBR, because my mom's happy place is "at the Beach."

Anyway, we are all super excited to be heading to Disney, but the rest of my family isn't as Disney Crazy as I am, though my DD is an avid Mickey Mouse Clubhouse watcher. I can't wait!! :)

We are going to rent a golf cart for the night and drive ourselves around the entire FW to see all of the lights. I've been told that is a lot better than doing the sleigh ride.

Well, the good news is: I'm sure it will just be an announcement as to WHEN we can make ADRs. They won't say "And ADRs can be maaaaaade......NOW! GO!" So, you may miss when we first find out, but you won't miss the ADR opening

Be Our Guest NEWS!!

Per the latest Disney Parks Blog post this morning!!! GO READ

ADRs to be available come late August (not date announced of course.) Restaurant to be open "for the holidays."

ADRs can be made in late August. :headache: So sorry for all of you waiting on ADRs. We will try to "brave" the lunch CS. Hmmmm....that may be a nightmare, but the menu looks pretty good. :goodvibes

I could be wrong, but I think BoG is going to be a counter service restaurant for lunch and table service for dinner. I don't know if they'd let you book an ADR for lunch.
