December 2012 Code Watch

I called this morning and was able to get POP as well....was checking on line and was not seeong POP open, and thought we would do dMusic.....but when I called we were able to get POP as well....still just have the qs but think it will be ok, as we have never been on the DP......only cost us $200 more for the extra day hotel and PH!:cool1: I told the DH it was some Bday magic!pixiedust:

Congrats!!! Looks like we will cross paths for a couple days. I paid to upgrade and have been crunching numbers all morning. We have never done the DP either. Still debating. But either way it will be a great trip and I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!

I got an email from Disney Destinations about it yesterday. It didn't list the offer as extended/added dates, it just said "We've cooked up a wonderful offer" and showed the new dates for FD. I just wish they had added a couple of days to the beginning of the Dec dates.

Disney will not notify you of any new discounts. You need to keep an eye on the DIS and the Disney Special offers site yourself. I check the site everyday

I received a notice about the extension from Disney Destination two days ago. I was hoping they would open up the FD a few days earlier.

Right now me and my DBF are booked for ASM Dec. 15-20 using a 30% off room only discount. But I am trying to figure out if FD would be a better deal than the 30% off. Any thoughts? We aren't really expensive eaters, and we are definitely trying to spend the least amount of money as possible on our trip.

Us the room only! Free dining isn't usually better for couples, but you will probably have to do the math.

Personally, I think the 30% off is better when there is only 2 in the room. When we travel with the kids and I'm feeding 4 people (4 in one room) then free dining works for us.

if a value room averages $100 a night, free dining would still be twice as good of a deal as teh 30% off! qsd is around $35 per person per day.... depends on if you were going to already buy tickets for at least the 3day mininum or not i would guess..

Is Disney not going to offer the general public package discounts this year? I'm not talking about free dining...usually every year around this time, they offer general package discounts.

True. Since TS is just under $57 (I think with tax) it will cost $20 or so per person, per day. Really, it's just what your family is most comfortable doing.

Every trip we take is at LEAST 6 park days and I try to encourage my DH to let us buy at least 1 AP, but no. Then we end up going back for another 6 or more days within a year and he says "well, maybe we should have..." :confused3

That is the question a lot of us would like answered. You just never know for certain with WDW. GP room discounts have come out as early as August and as late as October. Guess we have to keep watching!

Okay, I priced out room-only at All Stars for your dates:

Std room-only = $490 pre-tax ($554 w/tax)
less 30% disc = $343 pre-tax ($387.59 w/tax)

FREE DINING promo showing *Preferred room only as available:
Preferred room adds $85 to cost
Pfd room-only = $565 pre-tax ($638 w/tax)
less 30% disc = $395.50 pre-tax ($446.92 w/tax)

6-day MYW park passes @ $296.07 each = $592.14

*ROOM-ONLY @ Pfd level ($446.92) + 6 day MYW park passes ($592.14) = $1,039.06, but you still haven't allowed for food.

FREE DINING offer:
Pfd room w/6 day MYW & QS dining $1,232.88 TOTAL - LESS $1,039.06 room only = $193.82
Pfd room w/6 day MYW & TS dining $1,398.38 TOTAL - LESS $1,039.06 room only = $359.32

*Will you spend $359.32 or less (or $193.82 less if QS is more your style) on food during your stay? If not, go with the Package.

(*Comparison uses Preferred room since Standard does not show available with package. If you do room only with Standard, your savings would be $59.33 more)
You are welcome. pixiedust:

By the way, where did you get the 30% discount - is it a pin?

The only "package" discount they've offered this year besides FD is One More Disney Day earlier in the year. Last year they had the Kids Stay and Play Free but that was in the summer. I don't see any other package deals for this time of year on Mousesavers. They seem to be putting more emphasis on FD for the packages now. And obviously that's super popular.

there will almost certainly be Room Only discounts coming, but how soon is anybody's guess.

Wow - you go girl!! That's awesome :) I already had the dining plan so I was just pleased when it came about. Took $900 of my total booking so I then upgraded to a river view room lol :) Hey - still $483 less :)

why oh why did i use a ta???

just found out about the extended free dining, we are checking in on the
20th :cool1:

i didnt get an email (or dis since i was at work) and my aunt told me tonight. of course the ta is closed. i called disney and priced it out, then emailed the ta exactly what i wanted. hopefully she will get to it in the am!

last time i talked to her about deals she said she keeps up on all the new discounts and applies them to her customers....apparently not.

hurry up morning!!!!

ps...i will be switching to pop from aoa and upgrading to the full dining plan, i will save $1300. so worth it for us!

I subscribe to emails/daily digest from Mouse for Less (www.themouseforless.com). Their email came in yesterday morning with the date extension and I dropped everything and called. Didn't even look at the WDW site I was in such a hurry to call lol :)

I get a lot of good tips from their blogs/emails and some good information in general.

Thank you very much! I'll go subscribe right now! :)

OK I am still waiting for an AP discount. Has anyone heard anything? Today is the day it came out last year and that was really late in comparison to previous years. I am getting worried that we aren't going to get anything. Somebody please give me some encouragement. I really don't want to stay at a value and only for a few days. I want to stay for 6 days at a mod or deluxe.

I'm sure there will be! I'm waiting for it, too. The current offer ends on 8/14, so we may have to wait until that one expires (my opinion anyway). Hang in there, you aren't alone!! :)

I'm sure we will see RO discounts but I'm betting it'll be at least a couple weeks maybe more. There are no rumors right now to suggest its soon. CMs haven't heard anything and some are starting to suggest Sept. Also based on the last round we may see GP discounts first, then deeper ( but more limited) AP discounts later.

if it help, Sept AP rates came out later then usual too.. December will come :hourglass

I switched to pop from aoa and upgraded from quick service to full dining plan, i am saving $1432!!!!

whoo hoo!!!:dance3:
