December 2012 Code Watch

Oh man, I wish I would get a PIN in the mail, even for 10% off ...anything. I NEVER EVER get them!! And I have been SO MANY TIMES! We pay full price every time.

We are going in Dec and its so expensive..we will go regardless, but I would kill for a discount!!!!

I don't recall seeing any GP discounts (especially not FD) but I have heard of people receiving pins for a % off.

That is the type of discount we are looking for. We are not interested in FD as we are DVC owners and currently hold an AP. We are planning on staying at AoA from Dec 28 to Jan 1 before we check into AKV Kidani for 11 nights.

I am crossing my fingers that maybe, just maybe something might come through for us. My SIL, who is also going with us in Dec, is going down in a couple of wks, so maybe she might get some sort of bounceback for Dec??? Or maybe we will get a pin? or maybe they will offer some sort of AP discount?

I'm going right after Christmas -- my in-laws bought a condo not far from the parks so we're using that. But I wouldn't mind a night or 2 at AKL if a great pin code showed up - I'm upgrading to Premier when I renew my DL AP in November. Anyone think that might get me an offer?

I've never gotten a Pin. tried ordering the DVDs and filling out every survey/contest online.

So I have a quick question.
Has anyone ever seen any type of room discount over the actual xmas holidays?

Sorry, but Disney blocks out the dates through the holidays. You could get a good deal with free dining by checking in on the last day of promotion 20th for us on pin received last year and earlier date with one out now) and you use to do great with AP rates before day to day pricing. I have seen AP rates up to 12/2 in the past. I would plan on paying rack rate but here's some pixie dust your way, you never know!

Which would save a person more money at a moderate? 30% off room rate or free dining? I can easily figure out the free dining, that's easy to do. But 30% off room rate? I don't know how to figure that out.

Right now we are booked at CBR (POTC room) 11/29-12/8 with the DDP and a 6 day base ticket. I don't have a free dining pin code (at least not yet). But I have figured it out to be a savings of about $1300 to almost $1400 if we either get the pin code or a general public offer.

When I called Disney last week, I found that I do have a pin code for a room discount (might be 30%, not sure) for our dates that will expire on the 23rd. I have no idea how to figure out how much we would save with the room discount in order to compare it with FD.

Btw, in one of my previous posts regarding finally getting a pin code, I was told by the CM that it's not uncommon to have pin codes back to back. So I'm still hoping for that FD :)

Thanks!

We are booked at POR in a Royal Room, with a 30% PIN. There are 2 adults and one child (7). With the 30% off PIN, it is saving us $640. The DDP is $800 for the 3 of us. While the DDP costs more, we are going to stick with the 30% PIN, even if FD does come up for our dates. I did a spreadsheet about what we would eat and how much it would cost out of pocket and we are closer to the $640 rather than the $800, so we feel that we will do better out of pocket for dining rather than having it free. It's a lot of food for us. We rarely eat dessert, don't drink soda, etc., so there's a lot of things included in the plan that we wouldn't use. Plus, we don't have a lot of TS dining planned. We are doing two character meals, but other than that, it will be CS.

For you, it sounds like you have more people, so the DDP might be better for you. I would call and ask the CM to price your vacation with the 30% code, just so you know the number. Then you can compare your current reservation with the 30% off and see which one is best for you. Look at your dining ideas and see what you would like to do, what you think you'll be doing and gauge it from there. I'm sorry - I don't think I helped very much! :rolleyes1 I guess, just see what you think you'll be doing for dining and if it includes a lot of TS or character meals, than the DDP might be the better PIN for you :)

How many people are going? If its just 2 the 30% is better, if its 3 or more the FD is probably better.

For our last trip Dec 14th-28th 2011 at CSR with FD there was 2 adults and 16 yr old son. DDP for the 3 of us for 14 nights would have cost about $1900, however when totaling the bills for all the stuff we got on FD it was about $2500!! The 30% would have worked out to a savings of about $1100. Of course we could have eaten cheaper than $2500 if we really had to, but it was nice to get as much as possible out of those credits.

There are 3 of us. DS is turning 10 next week so he "graduates" (sorry, don't know how else to phrase it) from the child's DDP to the adult DDP. It looks like FD for us would be better if that pin code changes to a GP offer like last year (or if we get the pin code after the current one expires next weekend). It saves us more money overall. I'm still holding out for some pixiedust: that we will get that FD.

You're right. FD (if we can get it) for us would be the better discount after looking at your scenerio. In your case though, you still have a child on the child's DDP. Our son is turning 10 next week which increase his DDP to the adult price. So we're looking in the $1300 price range just for dining.

Doesn't the US military know I have plans???

Subbing to this thread after changing our Disney plans/resort/ADRs 3x from September to August to July to now December...

So bottom line quick question: Is there or is there no free dining and/or % off room rates anytime in November/December and if so, how do I go about getting it?

I know about Shades of Green, but w/ hubby's rank, the Values are still less expensive option for us....plus, for me, it's not true Disney :wizard:

On the plus side, :santa: We've never been at Christmas time...

Thanks for your help!!! :flower3:

Forgot to mention, I called and there's no code w/ our name...

Sigh...better change my signature line...A-GAIN...

There are pins for Nov/Dec we received one for then. Usually we wait for the GP FD to come out for Dec which is usually in Aug. Last year I believe it was Aug. 3 when we booked. So im sure you will get something. When are you going in Dec?

I just called on the off chance and said I got an email (though I didnt) and read the one someone posted here. I guess I had a pin because I am doing free dining Dec 10-15! POFQ! We are sooo excited! And the kids still don't know we are going in Dec! We were originally going to AKL with room only, but I love dining!

anyone have the info from last year's room discounts for december dates/or rates??? I remember their being one realeased in the fall last year....

Mousesavers have a list of past dicounts in the resort discount section. They list the dates it came out, type of discount, and expiration date. Hope this helps.

Wow!
Sounds like we are in the exact same situation!
This date is sticking though!
And it looks like we will be there at the same time!
(we are scheduled the 9th-14th, staying at the Poly)

I have the same thought about Shades of Green, between rank rate and the discount code we got, it wasn't much more expensive to stay at the Poly and keep all the magic!

I'm really hoping they extend the military salute!

That way we can add a day or two to our trip!
:)
