December 2012 Code Watch

I think Pop Warner will be winding down by then, won't it? I'm only seeing a couple days of overlap unless I have the dates in my head wrong.

I think I read that Pop Warner winds up on 12/8 this year.

I took the Plunge and booked this am BWI Water View Nov 28 to Dec 3 !:banana:

Also booked our flights at $110 each way for early morning arrival on the 28th and late departure on 12/3. I am so excited!!!

Now would be nice if Disney would send me a pin :)

We're leaving Nov. 29, staying at CBR and returning Dec. 8. We decided to splurge this time and go with the Pirate room with a water view. Last time we just did the standard room at Pop. We're slowly moving up the resort ladder, lol. Who knows, maybe next time we can afford to stay in a deluxe.

Now that we are retired we have to cut back in our trip length to afford staying Deluxe but we need the conviences the Deluxe resorts offer us. So in the end it's a trade off to do a shorter trip. I would love to stay longer like we use to, we have discussed AOA and the Mods but DH after staying at the BW this past March is in love with the resort and it is very convient for me since I now have to use an ECV, not having to use the buses to go to Epcot and DHS

I would love to stay at the YC or FW b/c I love the decor, the fact that they have queen size beds and the convenience to the parks. But unfortunately, we can't afford the rates. If we were going down a lot and could afford to, we would stay at a deluxe. Right now though, I can't sacrifice our length of stay when there is so much to see. Especially with my mom and brother coming along this time. They haven't been since 1993. So it's like going for the first time for them.

<Sigh> Maybe in the future we will be able to.

We are going to pull the trigger tomorrow and book AoA for a December trip.

No sense in waiting around, losing out on a particular block of rooms (Cars) just to try and land that discount. If we're going to be there, irrespective of discount (but it does help immensely), now's the time to do it.

From what I've heard, Dec 8th to 15th is favorable to both free dining and room discount. Does anyone know if for the room discounts offered earlier in the year, after AoA opens, were for the full 30%, or if because it's a value, it was showing a discount in a lower tier?

The pins that people have r'cvd for December were dated Dec 1 - 20. So I would gather that, perhaps in the future if they were to announce free dining it would be good through the 20th. Which makes sense because the actual week of Christmas is the one of the busiest at WDW, and they don't need special offers to bring people in.

I booked room only and about 2-3 weeks after I booked I got a PIN worth 30% off (even values!). So I went ahead and applied that. It saved us just shy of $300. Now, If Free Dining comes out I will revert to rack rate and apply free dining to my vacay because that saves us about $100/day rather than the $300 on the room. I know people say Free Dining isn't really "Free"...but the way I look at it is If Free Dining is saving me $800 and 30% off a room only saves me $300, I would rather pay the additional $300 on the room and save $500 on my food. It is still a $500 savings! (This is at a Value rates would obviously differ at moderates/deluxe resorts)

Wow did I have sticker shock when I priced out the deluxe resorts for Dec 6-9! Even if we get a 40% off code its right around 900...thats nuts! I booked the Dolphin for now for just $642, I think that is going to be the best deal and the location is great. Maybe there will be a big bucket of holiday pixie dust to dump on us for better rates!

Planning to book one of the all star resorts for Dec. 15-20 within the next couple of weeks! This will be my first time planning my own trip (i've always went with my parents, now it's just me and my bf going), definitely hoping to get some discount of some sort!

:confused3Okay completely new to wdw and the whole planning process entirely, so bear with me, but...

Say FD is offered until the 20th of Dec. and our check in day is the 20th, would I be able to get free dining for the rest of my visit?

Also, say we book at the AofA (value) and was offered FD quick service, would I be able to upgrade my dining plan to sit down service?

TIA for anyone willing to help me out on these 2 questions. :goodvibes

Yes and Yes! Though they will charge you to upgrade from quick service dining to regular dining. I think it is around $16 per person per night.

Hi all, question? Has anyone here ever been for xmas week?? We booked becuase those were the dates that we could make a dec. trip work and I ended up getting pretty good airfare. I know we won't get a discount becuase of the times but I'm getting nervous reading about just how crowded it will be. Yet, I see more people on here going before but not during. I know Dis is not the majority of disney patrons but just wondering if all the hype about parks getting closed out and 2.5 hour lines for rides is accurate or exagerrated?

Hoping you all get the discounts you want. That was me last Oct. and it all worked out perfectly :)

You and the pop warner bunch, eh?

We go same time every year during POP and never have a problem. Still better than Thanksgiving week which is horrible starting that Wednesday before Thanksgiving day.

We're looking to go in December as well, just for a long weekend, probably only 3 nights. We're heading down there at the end of this month for our long vacation and I'm hoping we get a bounceback offer for December. I'll keep everyone posted.

I might already be stating something that most of you know, but I called in this morning to speak with "Sampson" @ WDW reservations, a most-helpful guy. Asked if a pin was listed under my name and it was, but for April-August stays. This doesn't really benefit us at all, as we're looking for Dec. I was told that this current pin will expire on June 2nd and that by June 3rd I should have another pin listed under my name, that this is the way the system has been operating as of late, i.e. lose one, replace with another.

Has anyone heard something similar?

i booked a bounce back last year but forgot my dates :(

:hug:Thank you so much. :)

Keep in mind that Moderate Resorts get the Regular Dining Plan free (when Free dining is offered) so depending on your party size, it would be worth it to price out Moderate w/ Free Dining Plan vs. Value with Free Quick Service + Upgrade to Dining Plan Price.

For DH, I and my (then)3 year old DD to upgrade dining costs 16.55+16.55+3.03=36.13/night.

Rack Rate during my stay is $94/night for Value + 36.13 to upgrade = 130. Which is very close to the Mod price. The moderate price varies from $124-$159 (on the lower end, it does go much higher).
