December 2012 Code Watch

Just wrote this on the Dec 2012 thread, but I'll add it here...

Just talked to a CM about getting a pin code. When I asked him what might up my chances for getting one, he said it was completely randomly generated by email. Registering at the WDW site, taking surveys, saving vacays, none of those things will up the chances. Totally random, which explains why people who've never done anything Disney-related have gotten one.

Also, the CM confirmed that the likely release date for Nov/Dec free DP will be late summer (July/Aug) but maybe even into September.

We went last December and the free dining was extended to us on August 3rd. We are going again this year on December 14-21st so I am holding my breath that we get that same email this August!!!

Going to DW Oct 22 to 31, do you think that they will have FD. We went Dec, 2011 with FD, and had a great time, no rain, but would like to try Oct.

We did pretty much the same dates back in 2006. At that time, free dining was not being offered as much as it is now. And I believe the dining plan was still pretty new. Free dining had ended about a week prior to us arriving.

The weather was very good and we were still wearing shorts. A little cold in the morning where you needed to wear pants and a light jacket or sweatshirt, but it warmed up where the temps were in the 80's. Of course, it's still lighter out longer and the parks were closing around 9 or 10 pm (till midnight for EMH evenings). So that was a plus.

We took advantage of MNSSHP and loved it. Unfortunately, DS9 (who was 4 at the time) crashed within 90 minutes of arriving and missed the parade and fireworks. But he did get to trick-or-treat!

After going to WDW three times prior, all during the summer months, I enjoyed going in October. The parks were still open late, there weren't any extremely long lines for the rides like during the summer, and the weather was great - not too hot like in the summer.

It's something I wouldn't mind doing again.

Ok, I'll try to keep this brief:

We are currently booked at AOA 12/12-12/18, with dining plan, base tix. Obviously, I would really love free dining and park hopper added. So, I went to price out rooms at POFQ for the same time frame, without dining plan, park hopper included. If free dining is offered during that time, it means that POFQ will actually be cheaper than the AOA package. I know you're doing to say, well, then you'll just get free DP with AOA, but with a value resort, you only get the quick-service plan, not the regular dining plan, so we would have to pay to upgrade anyway. If I'm going to pay to upgrade, I might as well switch to the resort I'd rather be in for a cheaper rate!

Here's the conundrum...so the free dining for mid-December is not likely to be released until late-July/early August, but at that time, there may not be rooms available at POFQ (as I hear it's immensely popular). There's also still the potential that the free DP won't be offered at that time. If free DP ISN'T offered, we really can't afford to stay at POFQ, so I would be taking a risk in switch my ressies now....

I need opinions on this, people. What would you do? :headache:

We've been to DW the last two Dec from the 14th-28th with FD. We could have booked whatever Room we wanted at any of the Mod resorts well into October. So IMO there is absolutely no panic to book POFQ now. There will be rooms available in August. POFQ might be he first one to sell out because it is the smallest, but it doesn't happen in August.

PIN Code came via email from Disney Destinations..appears to be Room Only code. Dec 1-20. I have to call for details as the site is not allowing me to book. SOOO EXCITED!

Congratulations DH received that pin last year but we were not ,going in Dec. I would love to get it again this year.

We also received a PIN on Friday. My hubby had saved some offers last week, one being Pop and the email from Disney says "We're so excited you're thinking about staying with us at Disney's Pop Century Resort. With three cool pools, fun food courts and far out theming, this Resort is totally fun for the whole family!"

It does not state what the PIN is for but once I went through the website from the link with the PIN attached it appears to be for 10% room only offer.

I actually booked our trip about 3 weeks ago, through my own email and have not recieved anything yet. (still hoping for free dining) However, I am not complaining about getting this PIN, or any PIN for that matter.

I do have us booked at AoA and I called to see if I could apply it (knowing most likely not) I have to say the CM I had was so incredibly slow, with long periods of silence in between, it was frustrating. He didn't appear to know what the PIN was even with me saying what the screen was telling me. It took him forever to be able to tell me it was not applicable to AoA, which I had already told him !!!! I told him the email states Pop and he then decided to check the moderate resorts instead. I just told him I would stick with what we had and decided to call back today to speak with another CM.

Planning a long, relaxing trip in December into January...hoping for some deal to come out! We have been early in December and in January but that time over Christmas and New Years will be new for us...getting excited and it is still 7 1/2 months away!!!

This waiting for a pin or public offer is driving me crazy. I told DH yesterday I thought I would just book soon and change if need be when discounts come out. Now that the dates for MVMCP are out I am really getting anxious.

I feel the same way! I need the discount or a pin code now for Dec-lol!!:rotfl: I need a good price to add a fews in Dec after our cruise to "talk" DH into staying.

I feel the same way and we just booked our dates today . We're still hoping for FD this year. Our TA is helping us with keeping an eye out for the FD.

I can't wait to go :hyper:! Of course, that also means that as soon as it gets here it will be a blur and we'll be back home before we know it and asking "Where did it go?"

Just so you know, we have saved offers for weeks and weeks, but then finally booked for December. About two weeks after booking we received a PIN discount (room only) Doesn't save much for us so we are holding out free dining.

Might be worth it to go ahead and book :)

I am on the ledge about to make the leap and book since flights right now are at $110 each way.

Definitely go ahead and book! You can always apply discounts at a later date. We booked last year's December trip in March of 2010. We applied a PIN around 7 months later and then in August of 2011 we were able to drop the PIN and apply free dining. Of course we always use the same travel agent because she keeps up with the discounts for us so we don't have to worry with that stuff. I would definitely go ahead and book and whenever/if ever you get a PIN or free dining falls on your dates, call and change. Disney is awesome and they will work with you!

ITA. This is what we are doing. I just booked ours yesterday and the TA is helping us keep a look-out for the FD offer.

Just booked CSR for Dec. 8-16 (the week after Pop Warner).

Now it's just a matter of keeping the fingers crossed for free dining.

The optimist in me wants to go ahead and book flights because free dining has been offered that week each of the past two years. But the pessimist in me says "wait" because I've been burned in the past by booking flights before free dining was announced and then finding out I'd booked on a blackout week, which then required me to pay to rebook (which ate into a lot of the free dining savings).

What I'd give to know whether FD will be offered this December and, if so, for what dates.

Mason- I'm glad that you mentioned the FD over the last 2 years- hoping that it's the case this time around as well as we are traveling during the same time. Can someone please confirm, if we end up booking @ AOA and free dining is offered, since it's technically a "value" resort, though the suites are priced the same as moderates, are we able to only receive quick serv for free, with the option of then upgrading to plus dining?

Here's hoping for some Disney magic. We are booked for December 7 - 15. We are going with my in-laws and it will be my kids (ages 9 and 5) first Disney experience. We are staying at POFQ and hoping for free dining!

I think Pop Warner will be winding down by then, won't it? I'm only seeing a couple days of overlap unless I have the dates in my head wrong.
