December 2012 Code Watch

Apologies if someone already has been asking this - Any idea when the December hours will be out? I know the travel agent hours come out before Disney posts, so those are what I'm hoping to see sooner than later. Thanks!

I think mid-month. The TP and EasyWDW updates were up around the 17th last month.

Watching and waiting. :)

On the issue of codes for DEC, I was lucky enough to land 2. One was 30% off any resort, with exclusions for AoA, POFQ, up to Dec 20th. This code required that we book by June 20th. The other was a Game On email code that came through, with a lesser discount.

We are repeat visitors, were just there last Oct and did recently register for new DVD's and maps, plus saved 3 trips under mine and my wife's name, so I'm not sure what triggered the 30% off that just came in the last few hours. The agent told me over the phone that this particular code is "rare" for the time of the year- not sure if there's any truth to that.

Anyhow, hoping for free dining ultimately as we'll end up saving an extra $600, so cross those fingers if you've got 'em!

That would work for us - I wish I could get that pin.

Hi People--getting on this thread! I had to cancel my res for October, so I am now thinking about Dec 10-14. Has anyone been there at this time?

I've been told that it's the quietest week @ WDW, and this compares to Oct when we're normally there. Should just be us and our families in the parks- see you there!

I've been that week 3 times. 2008 was pleasant with low-ish crowds. 2010 was really quite busy all week, but the weather was bitter cold. I think the normal travelers for that week bailed after that cold and 2011 was pleasant with low-ish crowds again.

I'm afraid that with the opening of FLE this year crowds will be up again.

But honestly....... what are the alternatives? The marketing folks at Disney are working overtime to make sure there are no low times left. I understand that's their job..... but I wish they'd take some longer lunch hours or something and let me have my quiet parks back.

Thanks for your info! I am a bit nervous and can't decide if I should go again this fall or just wait until first week of February and go with my parents and adult brother. Decisions, decisions. My mom and I went the first week of Feb this year and it was pretty dead except on the weekend.

So, what do we think the chances are that part of Dec will see free dining? Is there a historical indication about the week following Pop Warner?

Thanks SJS- assuming for argument that we followed the above-timeline this year, and since we're checking in on the 8th, does that mean that we would possibly have book split stays to take advantage of the free dining option? First stay for 2 nights would be with the 30% room discount, while the remaining 6 nights would be with the free dining discount?

Yep :thumbsup2

Glad I found this thread... I was looking at Pop Warner week at POFQ and was hoping for free dining. Might just switch to the following week and cross my fingers!!! :lovestruc

I've been advised by my agent that FD is never offered during Pop Warner. That, plus smaller crowds, make the week of the 8th much more attractive!

FANTASTIC! Thanks for sharing this info!!

We were there during that time in 2010 and every day we were there it got a little more crowded. We were told by a few cast members that each day in December adds a bit to the crowds. That being said, Pop Warner did not bother us at all - I know they will be there the week before, but some tend to stay since they don't go to the parks during the day. There was one morning that the bus to MK was super crowded because the competition was over and they were spending the day there, but in all honesty it didn't seem to make a big difference.
I'm also used to going in September though, so any other time a year seems crowded to me! ;)

* 2010 was FREEZING - here's hoping 2012 is warmer!! :cool2:

Right. However, if you arrive before Pop Warner, you can still get free dining for your entire stay.

We're arriving on 11/29. If free dining is offered, it will most likely go up until our day of arrival then pick up again after Pop Warner. When I spoke with a CM last year (which was when we were originally going to go) she told me that as long as we arrive before Pop Warner, we will get free dining for our entire stay :thumbsup2

Yep! FD ended on Dec 15th last year, but we arrived on the 14th and had FD our entire 14 night stay!

Yes, 2010 was very cold. I was still nursing my son and we definitely used the baby care centers. No way I was going to try to nurse anywhere other than indoors.

You & I should be good to go for FD if it is offered date wise as it has been the past two years. We are arriving 11/28 :)
