I am looking at renting point for the beginning of December. I know this is a busy time for DVC. I know when renting points it is going to be impossible or close to impossible to cancel if something comes up. I was wondering how fast do rooms fill up for this time period. I was looking at either Boardwalk or Beach Club Villas. I would be trying to hold off booking as long as possible to lower the chances of having to adjust the dates.

I would try to rent points from a member whose home resort is either BWV or BCV and book your reservation during the home resort reservation period, at 11 months and before 7 months. Many of the villas book up before the 7 month which the earliest month you can book for points from another resort.

If you read these boards you'll that people are having trouble with December 2010. There's an availability board also that people post when they can't get a reservation. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2352993

Good luck.

Thank you. I was planning on renting from someone who has a home resort at either of those two. Do you think I would be OK trying at 8 months out before it booking opens to anyone?

JMHO but I think 8 months is too late. By then it is likely that consecutive nights in the same room will be tough to get. The first week of December is second only to Dec. 25 - Jan. 1 in popularity, at least in my experience. I once called only 1 day past the 11 month window and could not get all my days for the first week of December in a BW view room, and the waitlist never cleared. If I were you I would take my best guess and book in a category that has more rooms (e.g. preferred pool/garden NOT preferred BW view) and look for a DVC owner who would be willing to try to adjust dates for you if necessary. By booking in a category that has more rooms you improve your chances of adjusting dates later if necessary. Good luck. The first week of December is my absolute favorite time to be at WDW and, if I have my way, I will be there every year until I'm 6 feet under.

No, I don't think that is a good plan. Many of us book at exactly 9 am 11 months before to make sure we get what we want. By 8 months, the villa you want may already be taken.

I plan on being on the phone at 9 am on my 11 month mark. :thumbsup2 I hear December is very busy for DVC.

You'll be too late at 8 months out. You need 11 months out for that time. And your dates must be firm. There is no changing at that time.
