December 2011 Code Watch!

Count me in, hoping for a good discount! We just got back from a trip, but are just hoping to get a good enough deal that allows us to return in December.

I enjoyed our trip, but June is TOO HOT for me!! I like December and the MVMCP over the heat of June!

this is our first trip in December. Only been in the summer before the but kids have a great school break schedule this coming school year so we're going with some friends. I just bought our MVMCP tix today so excited!

This is the first time I booked airfare first. R/T nonstop from Detroit fares at $199 December 15-21. Unbelievable. Surely other good deals (and pixie dust) will follow. :wizard:

Just convinced the family that we should skip Christmas presents this year and head to Disney................didn't take that much persuading!!!

We are looking to try for 12/21 - 12/27, bu OUCH the rates are high. Haven't gone without a discount in a good while, so hoping something comes up!!!

Maybe you can hit the end of a free dining offer if one comes out! :)

Well, we are out for December, looks like we have to move our trip to January.

My boyfriend and I are planning our first trip together for December. We're not doing the dining plan, so we're hoping for a good room discount.

I've been to Disney many times over my lifetime but never in December. We're planning a Xmas stay (12/22 - 12/28). Am I fool to hold out hope for a promo during that time period? :santa:

You can usually get a discount up to 12/22 or, if you are an APer, up to 12/25. We go every year and use the AP discount then leave the 26th

I called Disney this morning to check AAA rates for some December dates. After getting those quotes, I asked if there were any pin codes with my name. I was told that the pin was not for my dates, but there was a package offer. After checking on that offer, it appeared that it was basically a room discount if you book room and at least a one day base ticket. The CM did not call it a pin offer--she said it was a package offer, so I don't know if it's something that is available to the public. It's worth asking about if any of you call. I also checked with Mousefan travel for the first time. Their rate was actually better than the AAA discount, so I might be going with them if I can get the time off to go!! Keeping fingers crossed that my principal gives me the okay.

We just received one today via email :woohoo: Unfortunately though, there is a huge downside (at least for us it is) and I've emphasized them via bold, italics and underlines. Here's what we received.

The price of $67 sounded GREAT at first, until I read all the restrictions :headache: We want to stay at a moderate resort (CBR in the POTC themed room). This does not give us an option and almost reminded me of the way packages were done prior to the DDP. Back then you had no choice and had to choose from the pre-made packages they had instead of picking and choosing like you can now.

The other option may give us more "freedom" but only if staying at a "Value Resort", which we are not doing this trip.

Ugh, we need a better offer than this. It's just too restrictive :sad2:

Maybe Disney's trying out a new (old) way of giving out promotions - this is possibly what they meant by the " future decrease in discounts" - everyone assumed it would be how often the discounts came out or the amount of the discount becoming less and less.
I've seen alot of people on the boards getting this offer (someone said there were 400,000 of these sent out yesterday). I think everyone had the same reaction to the $67 deal so if Disney was testing the market, they got their answer!:lmao:

I don't mind this deal. I would love the $67 value / moderate mystery. We are a family of 5 (all kids over 5 years) so there is only one choice for a resort for us - POR (none of the others will fit a family of 5. $67 a night would be a great deal.

What if you require an acessible room? Will Disney give you that with this special? $67 nightly ?

Many Thanks

Charleyann:santa:

I remember someone reporting some research last year about this sort of deal. I sure hope it's declined across the board to put an end to this!

I priced out the same vacation I have booked with Disney with the Mousefan travel, it was the exact same price Disney quoted me.

Is this with a pin code? I called Disney and they said no rooms are available with this promotion? Just wondering if you need a pin?

Many Thanks

I'm debating whether or not to call Disney and let them know that this deal is way too restrictive and may turn people away (unless that's what they want to do :confused3). There has got to be a better deal out there than this.

My other issue with this is that the week we are going is Pop Warner week. They take up some of the Value resorts and once they fill up, they use POR (according to what the CM told me on the phone a few months ago). I know Disney has a limited number of rooms with this current "deal" (and I use the term loosely), but this is ridiculous!

I'm also not saying that we're "entitled" to a discount either. We're still going whether a discount is available or not. But it would make it a little easier on my brother, for instance, who is coming with us this time. He doesn't make much and has been saving for this trip. He hasn't had a real, decent vacation in a very long time (in about 20 years). So in his case, a discount would be great to help off-set the cost for him.
