DECEMBER 2010....Who's comin??

Woo Hoo!!! :cheer2: :cool1: We are at POP Dec 3 to Dec 11 and our celebrating my DS and his friends 9th birthdays!!! (And I guess mine since its the day we arrived, but I'm too close to 30 to want to think about a birthday! :rotfl: )

Birthdays at Disney are awesome. :cheer2: You have to celebrate it, no matter what age you are or are not going to be!!!

December 4th through the 12th at the Poly. It looks like I'm going to be in very good company!

DH and I are hoping to go Dec 9 - 16 (Thurs to Thurs) to avoid the Pop Warner crowd...
Haven't booked yet, but we could be having a big group - up to 3 other adults, and another child.

Could be interesting. Hoping to get a PIN -- got the one through June, but that is no use, either.
Not sure whether we will go for a 1BR or 2BR Villa, or just 2 rooms at Pop. :) A lot of ifs for us still!!
Do you know when Pop Warner & the Cheerleading/Dance competition are for 2010? Planning a vacation for December, but worried about there being MILLIONS of teenagers & pre-teens running around everywhere! I've also heard bad reviews of them practicing in the hotels. I'd love to know the exact dates of Pop Warner so I can start planning!

:cool1:

We've never fly-camped before so this will be a new experience for us but what we plan to do so far is to use 2 big suitcases for all our belongings and we have these 2 HUGE duffel bags that we plan to load with camping stuff (trying to keep each under 50lbs) to fly down as checked luggage. There are 6 of us and each of us are allowed 1 checked bag (50lbs and under) for $15 each (otherwise it's $25+ each bag after 1st:scared1:). We figured this would be cheaper than sending the stuff by postal service. We are renting a van for the vacation and so we'll be able to load everything into the van upon arrival. We are on the dining plan and don't plan to cook at the site so that should help.

I was trying to think of a sign of some sort to put on our cart to identify our family. I think it'd be awesome to be able to tour the campground and know which other families are DISers. I'm still fairly new to DIS so I don't know if the Veterans already have a way of identifying each other or not but it'd be nice to join the club:grouphug:.

I think I'm just as excited about decorating the golf cart as I am Disney:laughing:. I'm such a big freakin' kid that it's ridiculous. My hubby is younger than me and yet he complains that I need to grow up sometime. I don't wanna and I won't :cheer2:. My kids even think I'm crazy because I'm so young at heart but they love it when we are dancing around the house in the middle of the night to loud music:cool1:.
Not sure if you're already booked or not, but I've heard Southwest allows you to fly your 1st bag for free. We flew through AirTran last year & paid over $65 each way for 3 bags.

Hi,

We just got back from our first winter trip and our first stay at Pop Century on monday. I booked a bounce back offer for dec 5th to dec 11th at POFQ to celebrate my 50th bday but now i'm worried. What is Pop Warner and how does this affect the crowds? We ran into alot of big tour groups last week but usually it wasn't a problem as we just went the other way. It sure was much more crowded than I thought it would be going in January but as always we had a fantastic time.
I know what you mean...I was planning to go December 7th through the 16th but then I found out about Pop Warner & the Cheerleading/Dance competition. I'm trying to get more information about it, so if I find out the exact dates, I will definitely let you know what I find out! I've heard that they practice in the resorts (especially the Value resorts) and some of the Moderate resorts. I've also heard that the parks aren't any more crowded than "normal" but I don't buy that personally! I mean, they have to be crowded if that many preteens/teens are running around for an entire week or more. Like I said, if I find out, I will let you know.

I'm still considering booking during that time regardless of Pop Warner because I have a toddler (he'll be 2 1/2 at the time of our trip) and I've heard the parks don't get really crowded until the week OF Christmas (and especially btw Christmas & New Years).

Pop Warner is Dec 4-11, 2010. I am going during that time period. My TA said the parks aren't effected too much with them there, but she advised me to not stay at a Value resort and certain moderates that have the overflow.

It's supposed to be the first week of December - well, first full week. I think it goes through the December 11th.
We've been during the week of Pop Warner in 2007, and we really didn't think there were any BAD incidents that we ran into, but there was definitely an increase in teenagers in the parks at night.

I'm just going to avoid the All Stars & POR that week :hippie:

I just booked tonight! :cool1::cool1:

Poly GV Dec 9-16!

It's our first stay at the Poly, and I'm pretty excited.

Thinking about week after Thanksgiving (Nov 29th) vs. week after parade (Dec 6th)?! Any thoughts/advice?? We don't want to be there for xmas parade taping!!!!

If past years is an indicator then the parade taping will be the Friday and Sat 4th and 5th

We are arriving on the 4th so we will not go to MK that day

Pooh! I know the crowds would be out of control, but I was kinda thinking about going that day, it might be fun to see myself in the crowd when I watch it on Christmas!

Oh, well, at least I won't have to worry about the crowds!

Cabins at Fort Wilderness 11/28 through 12/4

We did CSR for this same week in 2008 and absolutely loved this time of year! All the Christmas decorations are up and the crowd levels were extremely low! Hope we have luck with the crowds again this year...

We we at WDW for the during XMAS Parade and WARNER.
Filming is a MAD HOUSE and if you want to be in the parade, you kinda have to commit to stay on the sidewalk area for a couple of hours. They film, they break, they film, etc. EXCITING to watch, too. I think you can get a chance for a pass, too.

If you by-pass MG that day, you should have no worries.

We'll be there 12/3-12/12/10. Staying at AKL!!! I can't wait to finally see the World at Christmas time again!!!:cloud9:

The plan is to go Dec 4 - 11th at POR, although now I am getting nervous that it will be full of Pop Warner kids before our income tax return gets here. :scared1:

Our first trip was in Feb 06 at All Stars Movie and there was some big dancing competition and there were girls everywhere. Everywhere. At first I was disappointed and then I realized it was fun to watch how much fun they were having and they were all really nice (I mean - they're in Disney) and now that we have four kids, it'll be nice to not be the loudest group there :rotfl: . DH might lose his mind though if they are in the hot tub all night....hmmm....
