December 2009 Code Watch

So, happy the free dining offer came out today.:cool1: Wish they had included value resorts with the basic dining plan. That is the ultimate savings. I had them compare Pop Century with upgrade to basic dining versus a Moderate with free basic dining. Pop Century still came in several hundred dollars cheaper so we stayed with Pop.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who has been encouraging people to "just call and ask."

My husband and I just decided to take a trip for 12/13 to 12/18 to celebrate his b-day and see Disney in it's holiday splendor. We had received in mid July a PIN for free dining (our fist pin ever), but it was only good for dates through 11/24. Normally I would have chalked that up to bad luck.

But thanks to your encouragement here (even though none of it was to me directly), I just called anyway. Figured the worst they were going to say was no. Well, my PIN had been extended through 12/17 (something I'm guessing they never would have notified me about). So now I've got free dining!! Yeah!:woohoo:

And we're extra excited because we've never used the dining plan. So now I can start planning ADRs  Something else I've never worried about before.

Thanks again.

Thanks to this thread I got the heads up about the VISA dining deal...

YAY...just booked for 12/10-12/16!

I just wanted to welcome you to the boards. :welcome::welcome: Thanks for posting out here. It's nice to meet fellow DIS lovers along with them being Canadian. If you need help with anything...just ask or PM me and I'll try and help you.

Thanks for the great welcome. I just love this board!

Okay, I'm trying to remember what I've seen in the past...does Disney usually open up this type of offer to non-cardholders after a certain amount of time? If so, after how long? Days? Weeks? I'm not asking for me (got the card, thanks), but for a co-worker who I promised to keep an eye out on deals for his upcoming first trip to WDW with his kids.

Last year this FD deal did not go public, we only got a room discount a few days after the disney visa code broke. Romors are split this year, but some people are saying that CM told them it will be FD either Sun or Mon for GP. I just read on the Nov code watch thread that someone's AAA agent confirmed this. HTH

We don't arrive until the 19th. Is the AP discount the best discount that is available? We also have pins, but they are only good untill the 17th, too.:confused3

yeah, for arrival after 12/17, the AP is your best bet, but that is only through the 24th. You can try AAA at the Swan/Dolphin...we have AAA until 12/28, so I bet it is/was available for longer.

Just read on the November code watch thread that someone recieved an email from Disney Visa today stating the following:

""Hurry, before this offer goes on sale to the general public on July 27!"

Just a heads up!

I got it too!!! It said that at the bottom. Luckily I had already gotten a pin code last week and booked Pop with the regular dining plan free!

Ugh! We already have tickets. :(

We do, too. It still might be worth it for you though. We're getting one day tickets (for 3 of us, its about $225). We probably won't use them this time, but you can always save them and upgrade them on another trip. We still will come out ahead

You just have to price it out and see how you come out. There's also a good chance (I think) of a room only code coming out for the same time period.

Price it, it may be worth it to get 1 ticket for each and get free dining. Also, ask if you can keep it for next visit if you never activate the ticket or will they add it to the other days. Also ask, if you can just add one day for a few people, you can share some of the counter services meals.
