December 2008 Code Watch

does any one think that there will be any discount codes for mid decmber
travel were heading down Dec 12-28
thanks

The discount would probably stop with Dec 18. Any discounts that are already out (bounceback ends Dec 13, AAA ends Dec 18) end with Dec 13 or 18. Holiday rates kick in Dec 19, so there will more than likely not be a discount after that until sometime after the first of the year.

We're part of the waiting for a code for Dec group!!

We're staying at AKL club level 12/10-14. There is NO availability right now at the resort so I'm thinking our chances are not good trying to get a code there. :sad2: I hope I'm wrong!!

We do have the Disney VISA and have already called to see if a code was attached to our names. No such luck yet. I've requested everything possible and even ordered from Disney shopping with still no code in sight. It would certainly be lovely if we could get a code.

What should I be looking for in regards to a Disney VISA code? Will it be on the Disney VISA cardholders site (like when I log in) or will it be an email/letter? Just want to make sure I don't miss it. We're going to MI for a long weekend in August and need to have an idea of when I should be looking for this info to come out.

Also, because we're staying club level, will it even be possible to use a code?? If DH and I book two rooms (one in my name and one in his) can we use a code twice?? Sorry if these have already all been asked-I've got to catch up on the thread!!

Thanks and happy watching!!

We are going this year, Dec. 19-25th. Anybody know if there is any chance a code will be offered for that time (I know it is a very busy week). I didn't know if in the past they offered discounts for that week. Last year we were lucky and got the 40% off pin code for Thanksgiving week, but we had to check in the Friday before (that was back when the code would be good for the whole time as long as your first day fell within the dates, I know that is no longer the case)

Anyway, I'm just trying to figure out if I should take the time to check here every morning during the month of August for a code, or if it is pretty much hopeless for my dates. Any advice from the experts would be greatly appreciated. :goodvibes

I am going to post this here, to see if anybody can add some insight.

I can't believe I am asking for AAA help, but I am and I am really frustrated with them. I don't feel that the quotes are correct. I have done the breakdown myself and come up with completely different numbers.

We have AP's, so I asked to do the new AP package that doesn't include the 1 day base ticket for 3 adults and a 10 year old at POFQ plus basic dining, and insurance. Well, I get $3041, she gets $3246.30

She also quoted me the AAA package with room, 1 day base, dining and insurance. I get $3142.36, she gets $3147.50.

BTW, our dates are Dec 13-21, 2008 and with AAA only the first 6 nights are discounted/no discount with the AP package (still waiting for mid August)

I am going out of my mind and don't know what to do. I just switched my ressie to her because of all the trouble the local office was giving me and now I feel like I am stuck.

Can anyone out there please help me? I think I am going out of my mind. Any advice?

Suzanne

Suzanne, it is so frustrating isn't it. I checked local AAA agents with all of our trips except our upcoming one. They have always quoted me higher than I could get from another TA or getting the package alone through Disney. It just doesn't make any sense! Sorry you are having troubles.

Last year there were several discounts (room only, package, FL residents, Ap..) that were good til 12/23. So, I'm hoping for some kind of code during that time period. We're going Dec 18-23. But, the pricing structure was different last year, so I wouldn't be suprised if any codes ended Dec 18.

I'm going to check here for codes every morning in August. I think it's worth a try.

Since I am not an AP holder I am not sure I have my facts straight. Perhaps the differnce in prices that you are receiving from AAA for AP at POFQ is due to the fact that there are not any AP rooms available at POFQ for the days of your stay. MY DH & I are staying at POFQ from 12/5 -12/9 and are paying rack rates since there are not any AAA rooms available during our stay. Might be an explanation.

We are staying at POFQ dec. 5-14 and Paying rack rate. No AAA package available when booking. Has POFQ ever had AP rate or Disney Visa code rooms available? It seems it is so popular the codes are not offered at POFQ.

HI-- I was just wondering if anyone knew what the past discounts have been for the Disney Visa Card holders? Our trip is from Saturday, November 29th to December 5th.

We have received offers for Saratoga Springs in the past.. but I didn't write down the specifics.

THANKS!

I doubt it would start on the 29th, but possibly the 30th. Last year, I believe it was $15 off values, $40 off mods and about 20% off deluxes. It was a tough code to interpret since it covered regular season and value season.

a short version any codes new lately?
TIA:wizard:

Not yet, but based on previous years, I would guess the first 2 weeks of August

Can anyone briefly describe what a bounceback offer is?

At certain times of the year, Disney leaves a flyer in your room to entice you back in the next 12 months. Last year people who went for free dining, got the first crack at free dining for this year (that offer hung around into October) I don't recall any bounceback offers at all last Nov/Dec, but I could be wrong.

Earlier this year there were bounceback offers for 30% for specific times of the year (usually value season, off peak). Right around Easter they started offering room discounts for the fall through early December, but it was limited availability. By the time I got there in mid May the Deluxes were sold out for December with limited availability anywhere.

HTH!

December pin code e-mail that I received yesterday is 20% for 8/10-9/27/08, 10/19-11/1/08, 11/9-11/15/08 and 12/7-12/13/08 -- or $82./night for post-Thanksgiving until Dec 18th for a Standard Value room. If you go on the Disney website without logging in, you get the exact same rates without even entering a PIN.

Great marketing - I'll keep my AAA rate for Dec 17- 25 as it's still cheaper! But at least I can say that I finally got a PIN.:lmao:

THE AP RATES ARE NOT OUT YET.

I am not looking for an AP rate, I want the AP package that includes dining without having to buy the 1 day base ticket. The room has a rack rate and that still makes it cheaper than the AAA rate in which I would have to purchase the 1 day base ticket, which are still available for my dates.

The CM I spoke to this morning said it should be a matter of a few weeks for the AP rates to come out for the time period we are there and I can apply that when they come out, since I already have the AP package (so I hope). There are AP codes avail at POFQ.

Did you get the code for this? Another DIS'er was kind enough to share with me and would be happy to spread the pixie dust if you still need the code. Please note, even with the code, it took almost an hour to get the code put on our reservation.

I don't know anything about a code. The code for December hasn't come out yet. I can't do anything to the ressie, the TA has control over it. I would get out of it if I could, but I purchased the insurance and went to alot of trouble to get the ressie switched to this agent to get this fixed.

I don't know what my AAA agent has done about it, I have received no response from her yet. I hope she is checking into it.

I could use alot of pixie dust, or I am soon to start spitting fire.

So there might be a code from my Disney Visa? How does that work?

If it works the same as last year, the DV discount was the same as the Disney general public discount except that DV cardholders were given a few days advanced notice. It may have been 30% but can't remember for sure.
