December 2008 Code Watch

My DD and her DF had to move their wedding date up a week, so now the pin code he received in the mail is good for their entire honeymoon! They had to change hotels, but got a great rate at the Boardwalk Inn and saved over $1000, and are even staying an extra night. I'm so happy for them. They are now staying from Dec 7-13th.:tinker:

If there were to be a rate for December 2008- when would such a thing typically come out? Or when has one come out in the past? Around August-September, I think I heard. Looking for a second opinion or confirmation...

Last year, AP and FL res room only discounts and general public package discounts came out mid-August. Room only discounts for the general public came out at the end of September.

Last year the gen public code came out on Aug 16.

Hello All

We are waiting for December as well..I was able to get the pin code for my reservation but trying to find something for my SIL...:confused3

did last years code cover the firt two weeks in Dec?

Here were the dates for last years Visa/General Public Code
(It went to Visa holders on Monday 8/13 and to the general public Thursday 8/16)

9/30-11/19 (19th was the Monday before Thanksgiving)

11/24-11/28 (Saturday after Thanksgiving until Wednesday before Pop Warner Week)

12/8 to 12/23 (Saturday after Pop Warner week till Sunday before Christmas)

I am pretty sure that this was the first promotion where you were not allowed to check in on an "end date" and get the rate for your entire stay.

THX..I will be watching this thread!

...i must confess that i am almost burned out on the "is there a code out yet?" gig. i know i've been on this soap box before, as much as i love disney it seems like every step of the way is designed to extract as much $$$ as possible. I see on another thread that the price of strollers went up an obscene amount, surcharges for restaurants, etc. At the end of the day, its basically some patrons subsidizing other guests vacations. Heck, I'm already doing that, as there is no "rebate" check in the mail at my house....made too much on paper (funny, the government wants "real" money when I pay them! :confused3 )

oh, I need a vacation bad! how long is it 'til dec?

Sure hope a similar promotion comes out!! :)

Following that schedule, it would cover 5 of 8 nights for us at least.... we're arriving the day after Thanksgiving, and staying through the following Saturday (that saturday being the first day of pop warner week).

I am sorry-- I am trying to follow all the pages.. but I can't!

How much off was the Disney Visa holder discount? Can you get it even after you have made a final payment.. i.e-- do they refund the difference???

thanks so much!

The discount last year varied from hotel to hotel and based on which season (the code I just posted covered regular and value season)

Yes, you can get a code after final payment and they will credit your credit card back the difference, less any penalty that may incur (e.g. if under 45 days etc.)

I keep seeing conflicting information on that - I've seen people post making it sound like AAA saved them more than the AP rate would have, but you say - and my brain says it should be - that AP rates are lower. I would think Disney would give the bigger reward to direct passholders, not members of an outside company, no matter what kickback they might get from AAA...

We always saved more with AP until trip in Jan '08 which was during value season (not over MLK holiday). We booked with AAA discount before AP rates were out. As soon as AP rates came out I called expecting a better discount if AP was available for our room type (WL Honeymoon Suite for our honeymoon). CM said we would save more with AAA % discount then the flat $50 off a room offered for deluxe rooms. CM said he was surprised because AP rate is always better then AAA. AP would probably have been better for standard, wood or courtyard view at WL since the room cost was less. I too was totally surprised AAA was the best discount we could get.

I have a question regarding the discounts. We've already made our ressies for November 30th through the 6th of December at the AKL. It looks like there will possibly be a discount according to the info posted from last year for that time frame. However, are the discounts only for certain hotels? Do I risk missing out because of sellouts even if I've already made ressies?

Also, I have a Disney Visa...yet how come I never hear about the early offers for Visa holders? Visa never informs me...Will I have to be dependent on checking this site and the mousesavers?

Yes, you will find out here and mousesavers before VISA. I don't remember ever getting a notice from them. If there is availability, you can apply the code to your package, or totally change your location if something else is better. If it is less than 45 days till the trip, you will be charged a change fee. Keep an eye here early August!;)

Have you registered your email address with Disney Visa? I always receive an email from them, normally about a week before the discount is made to the general public.

keeping my fingers and toes crossed :santa: :santa:
looking for code for Dec 18th ,19th and 20th ,value or mod
then switching over to OKW Dec 21 -Dec 26th.

I'm still trying to figure out if its worth it to get CAA(Canadian) and try a discount that way or wait to see what codes come out.

well I guess I'll snuggle down and popcorn::

Hugs to everyone waiting

So Thanksgiving is Nov 27 and Pop Warner week is Dec 7-13. Do we think there will be a code covering Nov 30 - Dec 6? I sure hope so.
