Hi everyone! I need some advice. When I asked my son who he wanted to eat with at Disney this year, he said Ariel. I booked Akershus RBH for lunch because I couldn't get a ressie for breakfast. I am not sure that we will enjoy the Norwegian cusine at lunch or dinner. Also, we might not get to see Ariel since the princesses are on a rotating schedule. Should I cancel the ressie and just take him to Ariel's Grotto at Magic Kingdom to see her? Should I keep the reservation or try to get one for breakfast? What are everyone's thoughts/reviews on Akershus RBH? Thanks for your help in advance.

We had breakfast a couple of weeks ago and Ariel was not there But we were able to spend quite a bit of time with her at her grotto at rope drope We were the only ones there that morning for about 15 minutes I'm trying the lunch in Dec and am also concerned about the cuisine

I would keep calling for a breakfast reservation. Even the day before or morning of. I would definitely go for the breakfast if you can. I haven't been.. but reading the menus even us, who will eat anything, would much rather the breakfast (which I didn't know had a cold bar on top of the served hot food).
That being said, you might miss out on an experience with Ariel there, and you might not see her at all. It's just one of those things I suppose. You will definitely get to see her at the grotto. That is only a decision you can make I think. What works best for your schedule and family.

When I called Disney Dining this morning to see if I could get breakfast reservations, the castmember I spoke with told me that Ariel is usually not scheduled to be at Akershus RBH for breakfast. She is usually there at lunch and dinner. That being said, I am not sure that we will enjoy the Norwegian cusine. I would appreciate any reviews/opinions on this restaurant. I've been there twice for dinner and once for lunch and all three times Ariel has been there. The food there is great. The kids menu offers great regular options. I love the kids grilled chicken.

Thanks Honeystar120608 for the awesome information! I had tried to find pics but I guess I was looking in the wrong place. The food actually looks very appetizing! But, after seeing the picture of Ariel in her ballgown, I am not sure that my son (3) will recognize her this way. Therefore, I will take him to Ariel's Grotto at MK and The Voyage of the Little Mermaid at HS instead. Thanks, everyone for your insight and help.

I have an ADR at Akershus RBH for lunch at 12:50 p.m. on Dec. 19th for a party of 5 that I am going to cancel if anyone is interested.

Keep trying! In the meantime, you might have easier luck at another breakfast. Mickey is at O'Hana's breakfast so you might get that. Also Crystal Palace is good. And I love the Cape May breakfast and its much easier to get into.

Chef Mickey's is so popular it can be hard to get into. But if you make a back up, at least you would have that.

If they have any times available at all for breakfast that day, I'd take it then.

I have found WDW restaurants to be fairly flexible on the time as long as you have an ADR sometime on the date you go.
