December 2007 Code Watch

What I was really thinking is if a 'room only' code comes out will I have to drop my dining package to get it. And at that point how much is my dining package saving me?

If a room only code came out you would have to drop dining. Sometimes there's one code for room only and another code for a package that includes dining. So hopefully that will happen and you can still have dining!

Ok...This got me thinking....If a room only code comes out and I book using that, can I call back later and add dining and still keep the code, or do I have to have a package code?

Wa are currently booked at WL with dining, through AAA, but it can never hurt tolook for a better deal.

You didn't state how many will be staying in each room nor did you provide the ages of the children (at least i didn't see it in the 2 posts i read) so i'll base my answer on 4 adults in 1 room:

Example value season dates - December 8th-13th:

If you got a 40% discount code on the Poly room-only, the price of the room alone would be $1280.40 for 5 nights/6 days. Regular price for the room is $2134.00.

Room-only plus adding 6 days MYW passes for 4 adults would be $3022.68 at the Poly. If you do 6 day MYW tix plus dining then it comes out to $3802.48. Adding dining comes out to $779.80 more for 4 adults which is $194.95 per adult which further break down to $32.49 per person per day. If you get a package discount, then the room will be discounted but i believe tickets and dining are regular price. If that's the case, then a 40% off package deal would come out to $2948.88.:teacher:

I'd like to know this as well! :)
Maybe the original poster could post it here, lest they get innundated with requests for hundreds of PMs? ;-) (Well, maybe only a few dozen but that's a lot of typing!)

No. A room only code is for room only, you can not make it into a package. However many room only codes do have a matching code that gives you the same savings when used for a package. Also you can not change a room only into a package by adding tix/dining. To get a packge when you have a room only, your room only is cancelled and a package booked...so in your scenario, when you were rebooked as a package the code would nolonger be able to be applied since it is a package. So if you want dining, you must have a package (room + tix purchased as a package). If you want that package with a discount you must have a code that works for packages.

Subscribing. We have a reservation booked for Dec. 14-22 at ASMusic. Would love to get a lower rate since there is a such a large group of us. There is 4 parties booked, 1 is booked at the POFQ with a 40% off rate but the rest of us were late bookers. So we have 3 rooms at the Music booked at reg. rate plus dining/tickets. I called reservations and they said they don't know of any discounts being offered yet. Should I just keep calling? I got a card in the mail offering a cheap rate for October but I'm not going then.

I have a few miscellaneous comments, if you'll bear with me:

I can sympathize with having only one 40% room; I think I've still got sticker shock from booking my aunt's rack rate room for our trip! (The price of not planning early enough - so I'm not complaining, just commenting.)

IMO, it's rare that reservations CMs will tell you about a specific discount or code; you usually have to supply it yourself.

That said, have you called back since getting your card in the mail? It's worth checking to see what kind of PIN is attached to your name, and what the dates are....they might not work for you, but you won't know 'til you call.

I wouldn't bother calling until you know of a particular discount code - unless you have some other reason to (change resorts, book dining, etc). Even then, you'll probably want to be armed with whatever codes you can find here and/or mousesavers.com

Warning: Newbie question

We're planning on our first trip to WDW in December but everyone keeps talking about these "cards" they receive in the mail. Where could I sign up to get offers, too?

Thank you!!

The consensus on these boards is that who gets the offers is pretty random and that the best thing you can do is sign up for everything Disney you can - create a profile on their website, ask to receive e-mail newsletters, etc.

Still patiently waiting for a discountpopcorn:: :rolleyes1 ....Would love to stay at a deluxe again...:cloud9:

DH and I are planning a trip to Orlando 12-8 through 12-16. We will probably be staying on WDW property for 4 nights. I wanted to subscribe to the thread for any codes that come out.

There's one thing I'm not clear about concerning codes. Can you get a pool or water view room with a code, or are they only for standard view rooms?

Just Subscribing. Planning our second Christmas for 19 Dec - 26 Dec.

LoriDee - I am planning my first family trip for 19 Dec - 25 Dec. Since this is your second trip what can you tell me about the crowds as we get closer to Christmas? Also, what events are the best? Did you go to MMVCP? Thanks for any advice you are able to provide. :flower3:

WOW I am there from the 18-26th!:lmao: :rotfl2:

That is soo funny. We are at POR for the first time.

Were are you staying at ?

We hope to go to MVMCP see if the budget will squeeze that in , its like 250 for the 5 of us if we do that too.

You can use the code for any rooms they have available. They don't always have every view or every resort available with a code. It just depends on what rooms they need to fill.

MVMCP is one reason we like to go in December. There is also the Osborn Lights in MGM, and also the beautiful Christmas decorations wherever you go.

As far as crowds go, we were there the week before Christmas in 2005. I think December 14-23. The crowds were a non-issue at the beginning of the trip. The last couple of days as we approached Christmas weekend the crowds picked up a little each day, but still no concern. We didn't go to any parks on the 23rd. That was our check out and travel day. There were a lot of people checking in on that day.

Hope this helps.

is there anyway to subscribe to this thread besides posting a reply....sorry im a newbie just trying to go either PORFQ or AKL 12/10-12/13 for a nice price...thanks guys
