Can't Wait

:)
Mommylovesdisneymore we will be down the same time, Dec 1-8 at VWL. I'm hoping for a code for the first night then over to VWL. It's my first X-mas vist also. Doing MVMCP on tues, CM on the 6th, and don't forget the candlelight processional. I'm still waiting for flights, it sounds like some of you already got good deals. I think I'm spoiled, got $59 flights on SW last year:woohoo: , but that was for Oct. Anybody know if I should wait for a ding, or don't bother holding my breath?

Hi Call me Flower - I'm trying hard to wait to book airfare. If discounts come out I want to make sure I can change my dates if necessary.

It is sooooo hard waiting and watching.

Call me flower, have you checked Airtran? I just booked on Wed for the same time and got $55 each way tickets. I'm so psyched!! We'll be at MVMCP the same night as you. This is our first Christmas trip and I can't wait to see the decorations.

I just got nervous with all of you posting your great airfares....we booked back in March on US Air & AirTran for $218pp round trip. We were afraid to wait since fuel prices were rising, we figured airfares would as well. I checked SW last night and am glad I booked what I did....SW had a fare that was $2 cheaper, but had a layover. I'm now very happy with my nonstop flights!:cool1:
Now if we can only get a code for the 1st week in Dec. that we can actually use.......:cloud9: :santa:

Hello fellow first weekers!!! We will be at the most magical place on earth from Nov 30 - Dec 7. Glad to see other Disers will be there too. I'm beginning to wonder how crowded its going to be--I thought this was a "less crowded" week, but glad to see others just as excited as I am. We will also be at MVMCP on the 4th and the Candlelight Processsional on the 6th. See you there!!!!

We'll be there also Nov. 30-Dec.7. Need to make our flight ressys as soon as I get three minutes to talk with DH about it!!

Any idea when the Christmas Parade is filmed? Checking archives, it looks like it was this week last year. I am actually looking to avoid it. I have a crowd phobia! :-)

YEP....It's usually the 1st weekend in Dec.

Hello!

I am in the very early planning stages of a first week of December trip in 2008. I'm nervous for a couple of reasons:

1 - Heard that this is Pop Warner week with the cheerleaders and also heard that this is Mousefest week - now I hear that the Christmas parade is filmed this week. Is this week going to end up being really crowded? We initially thought that this would be an ideal week to go with low crowds and lots of Christmas decorations, plus the MVMCP! Am I wrong???

2 - In 2008, Thanksgiving is very late in the month of November, which means that the first week of December 2008 is actually the week after Thanksgiving - meaning that we would be arriving the Saturday after Thanksgiving (essentially Thanksgiving weekend). What do you think this will mean for the crowds that week? I know that Sat and Sun when we arrive will probably be quite crowded, but hoping that the crowds will drop off dramatically by Monday...

Now, I also have a question about codes for December travelers. Historically, are codes offered every year for early December? Should I fully expect to see a code come out for December 2008 sometime around Aug/Sep 2008? Or is this really a hit or miss thing that you cannot really count on?

Also, if historically there have been codes offered for December travel times, what kind of discount are we usually talking about? Would they be discounts similar to those that are currently being offered for Aug/Sep (ie. $13 off Value, $40 off Moderate and $75 off Deluxe)?

Sorry so many questions, but I want to be really informed.

Oh, one more question...I plan to go ahead and book the Dec trip in Jan or Feb of 2008. If a discount code comes out later in the year, would I still be able to have it applied to my trip? What if the discount code allows me to upgrade to a better resort, can you apply the discount code and upgrade at the same time, or do you have to cancel the current reservation and rebook?

Thanks!

I can't answer most of your questions, but I can suggest you consider a AAA card. From what I learned they release the AAA rooms mid-late summer for the following year. I booked in May for Dec. 2007 and some of my AAA choices were already unavailable.

Have fun planning.

Disney only releases a certain amount of rooms at each resort for the AP discount. Take me for instance. I booked a standard room at WL in Jan. 03 for my Dec. 03 trip. Discounts came out in Aug 03. I called and asked if I could apply an AP discount to my reservation, and I was told no. They were all out of AP discounts for standard rooms at WL. But I was told that they still had availablility for an AP discount for a Woodsview room at WL. So I ended up canceling my original ressie, and made one for the woodsview room to get the AP discount. (and yes, upgrading to woodsview even with the discount, still cost me more than my original budget.)

So basically reserving your room months in advance, doesn't guarantee that you'll receive an AP discount for that room (or resort).

To more directly answer your question: Yes. You'll have to make a new reservation if upgrading room type or resort. (As you can see in my situation.) Sorry for rambling!!

In 2007 Pop Warner week was going on the week of Dec 7th. Dont let that fact spook you. I was there in 07 with them and they were not a problem at all. In fact, we were at Fantasmic and a group of them made the hour wait go by prety quick!. Im sure it was the first time MGM saw the (Baseball) Wave going around the stadium!.

Wow...lots of people looking for codes....me too! Going back December 7-13 went in June with DH, DD and DS now it will be my sister and the kids! Will be anxious to see any codes!

need two rooms for Dec 15-21. We're AP holders taking a couple who haven't been in a long time.

I would PM you, but I think lots of people have these questions. Pop Warner will be the week beginning Dec. 3 this year. I would guess next year it may not start until Dec. 8, if they skip the first week after Thanksgiving. If I were you I would stick with your dates. Filming for the parade should be the first Saturday after the Thanksgiving weekend. Since holiday crowds are so busy and they have to close part of the MK, I think they would do it at the end of your week, not at your arrival in 2008. Apparently that only affects crowds on Main Street. And Pop Warner should affect value and mod hotels, but the parks only to a lesser degree. I think MouseFest is a well attended, but fairly small event. They have a website with the schedule listed, so you can pick which parks to avoid. Pop Warner may close MGM early one evening. Search for their website, too.

Yes, you will have crowds for the Sat. and Sunday following Thanksgiving, but if you make a good touring plan including ADRs, you should be ok. These days many people are saying to do resort activities in the mornings and then hit the parks late in the afternoon, planning to stay until closing on crowded days such as these. The crowds will go home on Sunday.

I think someone else has addressed the codes. Essentially you can expect some kind of codes to become available by or around next Auguest, but for which hotels, and what %, and whether it's something you can use - those can only be speculation. I do think that the codes have been similar to the current offer you describe in the past. However, sometimes that may require having an annual pass. Other times it has been offered to the public as well.
Sometimes they release more codes later on, like in October if bookings are low.

Good luck. I wanted to travel in the week you have planned this year, but DH said it was too close to Thanksgiving. Can't wait for our trip, though.
