December 17, 2011 - Magic Cruisers?

When I was a kid my hamster made its way into our overhead heat duct. My dad cut a hole in the ceiling to rescue him, then I had to give him away.

It seems like we have waited so long for this cruise and now all of a sudden time is rushing past before I can get everything done. Oh well, whatever I forget to pack will be available on the ship for a VERY small mark-up I'm sure!!:rotfl:

No news on lost Gerbil yet. We did have to pull the washer and dryer out yesterday because that was where one of them was hiding. For those participating in FE I sent everyone an updated list. Sorry to Sourmug that I forgot your daughter. Hopefully everyone will print out the list today. Too many things to do and not enough time to do it all. Going to Downtown Disney tomorrow to see what goodies I can find. Thank goodness for us that we live only 40 minutes away and don't have to worry about air travel and baggage costs. Looking forward to meeting everyone on Saturday.

And the lost gerbil is not eating any of the food now that we left out, so my theory of having an idea of what room it is in, is down the drain. Oh well.

My friend's daughter "lost" her gerbil....I was spending the night there and the thing literally ran across me in the guest room bed. My scream brought the entire family in! At least they knew what room it was in, and the dad was able to capture it soon after.

I've hit the point of "a million things to do." However, worked my way thru a lot yesterday, and if I had to leave on 30 minutes notice now, I could be ready.

4 nights to go. Maybe the gerbil will still be found. Sounds like there are other people who have good stories about lost little pets. Suitcase almost packed. Have to wash a few loads of clothes and finish packing on Friday.
:laughing::mickeyjum

I wish I could say our suitcases are packed! They are in my mind - where I'm still trying to weed things out! We're driving down Friday so at least I don't have to worry about trying to fly with all our luggage. And since it's our first we're going all out - pirate costumes & formal wear - so all the trappings that go with those outfits. If we ever do this again I know I'll be minimizing a LOT!

Are we getting together sometime/somewhere to meet each other?:upsidedow

Well the gerbil was found, then escaped while we were trying to catch it. Darn gerbil. It has since been back to eat, but we have not caught it yet.

We have not packed anything. Hopefully we will get caught up before Saturday.

We should get together. Not sure the best time and place to meet though. Any suggestions?

For those of you who are driving you might consider one of the off terminal areas for parking. Do a search for Port Canaveral off site parking for cruise. Will save you over half the cost of what the Port charges.

I so jealous of everyone who is packed already and/or driving. We are flying in and I have no idea how I am going to get everything into 'airlines limited' suitcases and I hate the idea of paying for excess weight/baggage.

We're getting so excited about the trip and looking forward to meeting everyone.

Good luck on the last missing gerbil! We have a love bird who was missing for a couple of hours about a month ago. She was found in my boot.

How about meeting at 3:00 on Saturday on aft Deck 7 (the "secret" deck, between staterooms 7138 and 7638). That is where we met in Oct. If it is closed we can all take a walk to one of the lounges. Don't think it will be closed though. Last story on gerbils. They almost caught the missing one last night but it escaped. Thanks to the cat they found it today. She was standing by the stove so they looked under it and there it was. It is now in a cage by itself and they decided to keep it. The mommy, daddy, and other baby (along with 3 new babies that they saw in the cage today) are now at the pet store. They sure do multiply quickly. The other 2 gerbils that never multiplied are also at the pet store. One thing we learned is that you can't put them all in one cage. I was only going to take one cage with all of them in there to the pet store but when we put one in from the other cage a fight started (I guess because there were tiny babies in there). I reached in and grabbed the one that was aggressive and got bit pretty good. When I told my husband he panicked thinking I was might have to get checked for rabies and miss the cruise. He called the doctor and they said no worries so I am still on for the cruise. May have a sore thumb for a few days but nothing more. Spent all afternoon at Downtown Disney buying goodies for Fish Extenders. Now I have to finish making mine. See everyone on Saturday.
:cheer2: :santa:

Those little gerbil/hamster teeth are sharp - I can relate! They also eat their babies so that's another reason to seperate them! But it sounds like you have the gerbil incident behind you and everyone can leave knowing all is well! Except for your thumb!

3:00 is good for us but I don't think MommyMouseEars boards until 3 or 3:30. However we'll plan on meeting then unless we hear otherwise! Getting so excited and need to get packing again!

Missyosmom is correct; we were assigned the 3-3:30 boarding time. :worried:

I am hoping that we will be allowed to board earlier, but it's our 1st time so I don't really know how everything is done. I would think we would be able to drop stuff at the room and step out there.

The only thing that I know I want to do right after boarding is to see if we can get tickets to Tea with Alice. I've read about them selling out before everyone has boarded. Any suggestions from experienced cruisers?

We will be boarding early. If you would like I can see if I can book this for you. Let me know if you have a particular time and day (don't know how many of these they do). We are booking brunch at the same time so it won't be a problem to do this for you. We can always do a meet a different day or try to meet up on deck 9 or 10 for the sail away party. Maybe meet by the soft serve ice cream station after the emergency drill. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

We are flexible as to the meet up and will differ to those who have experience cruising.

Joyjanet - Thank you for the offer! It will be wonderful if you can do that. I will message you the time slots we already have plans.

Meeting after the emergency drill sounds like a good idea - and even better if it's by the ice cream station! Everyone should be on board by then I'm assuming and if Joyjanet can book Tea then everyone should be able to make it. Do we have a plan then?:goodvibes

Well, after packing & unpacking 2 suitcases last night I finally found something that will hold ALMOST all of my FE gifts! And so I went to bed about 3:00. Up and at it this morning printing some last minute magnets then throwing the last few items in a suitcase and we are on the road! We're staying tonight @ the Radisson so we can take our time driving today. So this will be my last post until after the cruise - we'll be by the ice cream station after the emergency drill waiting to me whoever else shows up!:dance3: And as Mickey would say - see ya real soon!!

We have a plan. See everyone tomorrow by soft serve ice cream machine after drill.

Thank you to everyone for the FE gifts. My kids had a blast discovering new things each evening. I hope you all had as great a time as we did!!
