Hi everyone.

Looks like we've got our group all set! Whooo hooooo! :cool1:

Make sure to check back often for updates. Also, keep posting on the thread as well so we can get to know each other better. By the time we meet in December, we'll feel like old friends! (Not literally "old" of course.) :goodvibes

If you signed up a child/children for our group, please make sure they attend the class! This is VERY IMPORTANT! Otherwise, all of our of themepark tickets could be null/voided by Disney right then and there! :scared1:
(Disney records all ticket numbers on the themepark tickets for each group. Therefore, if a group doesn't show up for their YES program class, or not enough students show up for the class, ALL tickets will be immediately cancelled.)

Basically, what I'm saying here in the nicest possible way is.....SHOW UP FOR THE CLASS! :thumbsup2

OUR CONFIRMED CLASS:
World of Physics: Energy and Waves - December 15th, 11:30am, for grades 3rd-12th (at MK) - Students learn about sound and light waves, tricks to using shadows and reflections, and the way Disney uses all of them while experiencing the attractions Stitch, Mickey's Philharmagic, and the coolest part.....the ballroom scene in the Haunted Mansion!!! http://adisneyworld.disney.go.com/me...es(112309).pdf

Tickets
You can purchase VERY DISCOUNTED themepark tickets when taking part in a Disney Y.E.S. program. For every one paying student taking part in a class, one adult may also purchase a discounted Disney Y.E.S themepark ticket at the student price. I believe the ticket prices for the Y.E.S. programs are going up in September, so it would be great to have a class confirmed and our tickets purchased by then. The ticket choices are 1 park per day, park hoppers, or premium which includes park hopping/water parks/and Disney Quest

For those of you who are Annual Passholders, or if you already have WDW tickets, students are still required to buy a minimum of a 3-day base ticket to attend the class.

A little about me. I'm a long-time member of the DisBoards and I've attended the DisBoard Divas ladies trips to Disneyland since they first began three years ago. If you make it over to that thread on the Disneyland boards, you can see my picture posted with all the other Divas in the first few posts.....just in case you wondered if I had 3 googly eyes or green hair or something. :rotfl:

I'm a wife to my wonderful hubby of 17 years, and a mom to two boys (a fifth grader and a third grader). I'm also a full-time student working on my Masters degree in elementary education. I finish my last class on November 21st, and I will start student teaching in January. Whooo hoooo! :yay:

This will be our third trip to WDW.

We'll be staying at SSR with my brother and three kids (my niece who is in 7th grade, my nephew who is in 3rd grade, and my other niece who is a junior in high school), and for all of them, this will be their very first trip to WDW or any Disney park at all! Actually, it's their very first trip anywhere east of Arizona, so LOTS of firsts for them. We are all very excited! :woohoo:

We are confirmed for the December 15, 2010, 11:30am Energy and Waves class at the Magic Kingdom!

I am interested. We would want the 1:00pm class on the 13th. I have a 4th,5th, and 7th grader. I would also need a ticket for 2 adults and 1 child(5 year old). I am not sure where we will be staying yet:rotfl2:but that is the week that we have decided on. Let me know what I need to do next. Thanks!!!

YAY, I'm so excited! :cheer2:

We need at least one more student for the minimum group size of 10 students. Hopefully someone else (and more) will want to jump on our December Y.E.S. group bandwagon and sign up. :thumbsup2

Once I submit our program request form and our class date/time is confirmed, then I'll send you a private message about ordering and paying for the tickets. Hopefully we can get in our ticket order before September, because the prices will probably go up then.

My kids thought the 1:00pm Ocean Discoveries class sounded like fun too. They love learning about animals in general, and they LOVE watching all the fish and ocean mammals at The Seas Pavillion. They could stay in there for hours. So when they heard that there was a Y.E.S. class offered there, they were very excited! :fish::fish: :yay::yay:

I hope you find a great deal on a place to stay. We were actually going to stay offsite ourselves until a friend was able to use her timeshare membership and trade into the Disney Vacation Club for us. But there are some great places offsite too. Or if you want to stay onsite, hopefully Disney will open up their room only discounts to the general public sometime in the fall for stays through December. We received a 20/30/40 discount code a long time ago that we could've used, but the code is tied to our name, so no one else can use it, which is the pits I think. Otherwise I would happily give it to you so you could use it. But if I find a great deal, I'll let you know right away. I'll keep my eyes open for one. :thumbsup2

yes- we will be there that week!:cool1: I have a 5-6th grader and a 10-11th grader- we are interested in motion energy class on the 15th for sure....
if the other one is chosen, maybe my older could be a chaperone?
if my DH aren't chaperones, will we be able to buy the discount tix to use?

Thanks! I know we will find something. I was told today that there is a pin attached to my name but it won't be released until next week. I am hoping for a room only discount. I also found some great rates on orbitz. I am very excited!!!

I might be interesting for my niece who will be in the 6th grade. We were actually already planning on going to Epcot that day (13th) so the Ocean Discoveries class would be perfect. I need to make sure she would be interested.

Awesome! Welcome to our group!

From what I've heard, the grade levels are just the "recommended" grade level for a class and are not exactly set in stone, but I'm going to call the program coordinator tomorrow to verify and ask if it's possible for a couple of older students to join, as well as to ask if it's possible for older students to be chaperones.

Actually, my kids seem to now be leaning towards the Waves and Energy class too. Suddenly they're telling me that learning about how Disney creates the ghosts in the Haunted Mansion would be really cool. I guess they have a few days before they have to make up their minds once and for all. I hope I'm not dizzy from their back-and-forth by then. Yesterday all they talked about was the Ocean class and fish and turtles. :goodvibes

On our program request form, should I put down that your kids are in 5th and 10th grade, 6th and 11th grade, or 5th and 11th grade, or 6th and 10th grade? (Wow, I think I confused myself with that.)

And yes, with two kids participating, both you and your hubby can also purchase the discount tickets to use. YAY!

Oh, that's TERRIFIC! Fingers are crossed that it's a room only discount. :wizard:

Otherwise, on to Orbitz!

We would love for her join us! I think it will be so much fun for the kids! In the next few days we should know exactly which class is preferred for our group. Or heck, we may end up with enough kids interested in each class to be able to sign up for both of them, which would be ideal. :thumbsup2

Thanks so much for sharing this! You can put my kids on 6th and 11th grades(sorry for the confusion, but as we homeschool,it's more flexible)
either class you choose is fine as along as I can acommodate both of them:thumbsup2
when is your deadline for deciding what tix to buy,and I also assume you have a method for that? :)

Oh my gosh, you're so welcome! Thank you for joining us! Without all of us coming together, this wouldn't be possible. It's definitely a team effort.

Also, it's absolutely no problem if you'd like to chaperone the class. With two juniors (11th graders) in the group, a chaperone or two, and the class instructor, I feel confident that the younger students will be just fine and appropriately supervised....considering they'll basically have 4-5 sets of eyes on them during the class.:thumbsup2

You have a little time yet to decide what tix to buy (of course we need to get a class confirmed first) but I think we should order/pay for them sometime in early-mid August to make sure we don't miss out on the current pricing. So I guess maybe in 2-3 weeks everyone should hopefully know what tix they want to order? How does that sound to everyone? :confused3

Once our class is confirmed, I'll be sending everyone a PM to exchange contact information and take ticket orders. At that time, I will also need to collect money for the tickets and thought I would use Pay Pal since it is more secure for you and offers you protection from dishonest people who take money and then don't deliver the product/service you paid for. If someone wants to mail me a check, that's fine too. I just want everyone to feel as safe as possible when it comes to any exchange of money.

Tickets must be ordered all together as a group and paid for all together in one lump sum, so that's why we aren't able to place individual ticket orders and pay for them seperately. Once I receive the tickets, I'll mail them to you by priority mail with delivery confirmation so they can be tracked.

I just want everyone to feel comfortable and confident throughout the process. :thumbsup2

Oh, I almost forgot.....we have a group/organization name too. Borrowed from another DisBoard member (with her permission) who started and completed a Disney Y.E.S. group in March, luvmylilangles came up with this group/organization name for future Disboard Y.E.S groups to use:

"It is called L.E.A.P. (Learning, Education, and Play). L.E.A.P. is a social group where parents can come together and share ideas of fun ways to help our children learn while having fun at the same time. We are making a LEAP towards our child's educational success!"

I just wanted to say I am also forming a group on Saturday, December 18th at Animal Kingdom. If you have any trouble getting enough participants, maybe we can work together.
:)

I'm a CM and we homeschool, we'd be interested in any and all as YES programs are hard to come by for us for some reason! My girls are 9th and 7th grades (ish, 14 & will be 12). Please keep me posted on the details.

That's a great time to form a group because a lot of people are coming in then for the holidays. I think most, if not all kids have their last day of school on Friday, December 17th, and then have at least two weeks off, so you should get LOTS of interest! So far we have 14 possible students for this group, but I'm all for working together! Is there anything I can do to help you with your group?

Wow, you're a CM?!?! I'm delighted to have you and your girls join us!

I'll be sure to keep you and everyone updated on the details. Make sure to check the thread often for any updates, and once we have our class confirmed, I'll be contacting everyone through PM to exchange contact info and take ticket orders.:thumbsup2

Our group is coming together! I'm so excited! :cool1:

Look over the list and make sure I didn't miss any students in your party. I think I have everyone, but you just never know. Being a busy mom and college student, I find myself experiencing "whoops" syndrome from time to time. :rolleyes1

I have two sixteen year olds and we will be in WDW from December 3 to December 17. They are in the 10th grade and interested in the World of Physics: Energy and Waves - 11:30am for grades 3rd-12th (at MK) if you have enough for that class. The 15th would be the best day as we do have ressies for Lunch with an Imagineer on the 13th. Please PM with the information if they can join the group.

Excellent rosebud4! Welcome! :yay:

I'm adding your kids to our list of possible students, and I'll be sure to PM you with information if we get that class chosen/confirmed! :thumbsup2

Hi everyone, hope you all had a nice weekend! :thumbsup2

I called our Y.E.S coordinator (Heidi), and she said that grade levels for classes are set (meaning NOT just a recommendation). I've read other Y.E.S. group threads on the DisBoards where their coordinator said the class grade levels were just a recommendation and not set, but okay.....overall, not really a big deal for us I guess.

So, being that the grade levels are set, we would need to go with the 11:30am Energy and Waves class at the Magic Kingdom. I hope everyone is okay with that. Heidi said it was a great class and the kids would really enjoy it.

She also said that attending the class on December 15th looked good for us, and she didn't think there would be a problem to schedule it and send confirmation. :thumbsup2

I'm going to go ahead and fax in our request form to her today. I want to be sure to get the class scheduled asap so we don't lose our opportunity.

Let me know what all of you think. I think it'll be a lot of fun! (Although 1 of my 3rd graders REALLY wanted to do the Ocean Discoveries class, but he's still pretty excited about the Energy and Waves class too, so I guess it's all good. :goodvibes)

Hi everyone. :wave2:

I received an email this morning from WDW Y.E.S. Programs, and we are CONFIRMED! :cheer2:

December 15, 2010, 11:30am - Energy and Waves at the MK

I will be sending everyone a PM soon in regard to ticket orders, payment, and contact info (mailing address and phone number). I will also send you our group confirmation number as well.

Whoooo hooooooo!!! :woohoo:
