I really, really want to make it to DLR while it is decorated for Christmas next holiday season. If we take our son we will be limited to going during his college break so I am trying to decide if Dec 14-16, 2015 would be best or Jan 4-6, 2016 as far as crowds and weather go. What are your thoughts? Or, if we don't worry about going during his break, is there an earlier time you would recommend? Thanks!

We were in the parks December 17-19, 2014 and found the temperatures very comfortable. Of course that one experience is not necessarily indicative of what you might see in 2015, but I understand that this is fairly typical. We also didn't find the crowd levels to be bad during the week.

Loved all the park decorations. Be sure to check out what they've done at DCA for the holidays as well.

I think your December dates are fine, and those are the ones you should go with, although the parks won't be lacking visitors, by any means. It will not be slow or quiet, but it also won't be unbearable. The weather can be a bit unpredictable during December or January. It can be hot and sunny, 30 degrees at night, or it can be windy, chilly and overcast. It can also be pouring buckets of rain. I have experienced all of these scenarios in Southern California.

I am assuming that when you say you want to get to DLR while it is decorated, what you mean is that you want to get there while the holiday season is in full swing, and all of the holiday entertainment is happening, etc. -- correct? You want the full "Holidays at DLR experience," I would imagine?

Even though most things would probably be happening and most decorations would still be up during the January dates, there is more of a chance that some things could come down by January (carolers disappear; Santa disappears from most spots, some decorations begin to come down, etc.), whereas nothing will be down or over by the December dates.

Be sure to join us in the Disneyland at Christmas/Holiday Season Superthread if you can. The whole first page has info that you may or may not want to read (you can skim it and stop at anything that looks interesting), about all things pertaining to Disneyland Resort Holidays. Whenever any breaking news, any rumors or speculation about things that could impact the holiday season, comes in, we discuss it in the Superthread -- even if it's way, way in advance. We talk a lot about when specific things start (soft openings or official opening), when things end, crowds, etc.

I think the December dates are your best choice. There is no guarantee that holiday season will still be in full effect January 4-6, although it might. Besides, if you go in January, you probably won't have as much "holiday spirit" as you would a week or two before Christmas.

Thank you for all the input so far! I have subscribed to the Holiday super thread and look forward to seeing all the information. Hopefully I can make this trip a reality this year!!!
