December 12 - 19, 2009 Western Magic

Since it fits into our schedule nicely and we've yet to see Cozumel, we're doing the same cruise, same week at the end of the year. :cloud9:

Cozumel was our favorite, we loved the bargains and bargaining with shop keepers, including Diamond International. I was stunned because the price for jewelry was so much less than in America.

Can't wait to check it all out next time around. :)

Oh, fellow cruisers, be grateful we are not cruising this week. It is SLEETING in Orlando. Can you imagine boarding right now and watching out for patches of ice at the welcome aboard deck party? :sad2: I hope it warms up before their Castaway Cay day!

Oh, I know. I thought the same thing yesterday when I found out my husband's boss had to be transported from one airport to another in order to even get down to Orlando. His original flight was delayed, delayed and then cancelled. Yikes!!!

We, who are on this board and in this thread in particular, enjoy the Caribbean and all that it encompasses. I ask that we spare some of our pixie dust for those poor people in Haiti and the people heading there to help them. And I challenge you all to make a donation to the Red Cross or whatever agency that will make a difference there.

I can't believe that it was just one month ago that we were in Grand Cayman swimming with rays.

Wish I could go every month.

Having just gotten off the Wonder on Thursday, I don't know that I'd recommend doing two cruises so close to each other (within a month as you point out!) It was definitely much different weather as it was extremely cold the day we left.

But the good side is (and Bevtoy should be proud of me), we used the benefit of having just been at Castaway Cay a few weeks earlier, coupled with the cooler temperatures, to spend the day exploring the rest of the island and doing all of the things that we'd never done before, having spent all the day on the beach. We didn't even put on our swimsuits that day, but instead spend the day riding bikes, exploring the island, checking out the Heads Up Bar, seeing the Observation Tower we'd only seen in a House Party video, and finally getting to see the adult beach, though from the safety of the road since our kids were with us. It was a wonderful day, and was much nicer than feeling like we had to go swimming in freezing cold water (high in low 70s that day for air temp) since we didn't know when we'd be back to the island again!

We did have moments (and have had many moments since this cruise) where we wished we were back on Cozumel in the 80+ degree temperatures, enjoying a beautiful day on the beach.

That sounds like fun, next time we go I am definitely trying out the bikes!

The bikes were fun when we used them. My parents were a little winded though... LOL It had been decades since they were on them. Still, not bad for a couple of over 70 year olds. :D

My husband and my 6 y/o DD went on a bike ride. I chose to stay on the beach in a hammock and be the meeting point for everyone else. After hearing their adventure and seeing the pictures I wished I had rode bikes. Would definitely do that next time.

Two weeks ago we finally got around to mailing our claim against our trip insurance purchased for this trip for the extra night we spent in the Orlando Airport due to the 12/19 blizzard that hit the east coast. Just got our check today for everything that we'd asked for! So fully covered for the hotel, meal costs, and extra day's parking back at our home airport. Woo hoo!!!

Oh yea. The best part? The insurance cost us $126 versus DCL's $300 something, and our reimbursement was over $350!!

Just stopping by to say hello. :wave2:

We are on the Med Cruise for the Aud 20th, 2011. Any one from here on it or considering it ? Airfairs are a bummer but cruise prices are not so different from the East or West Caribbean. So hey, maybe we get to meet again :goodvibes
