We are taking the Disney Cruise on Aug 13. You'll have to let me know how the weather was.

I went on the inside passage with princes cruise line on Aug. 7. It was great. The weather at first port was great, long sleeve. After that we needed a nice sweat shirt and or a good water proof jacket. The cruise and ports were wonderful.

Is anyone planning on dressing up for pirate night? I have talked my youngest son and my daughter into being pirates for halloween. Kill two birds with one stone.

we are definitely dressing up. Jackson already has his costume from dress like a pirate day at school. My costume is in process and Heather's is still to come but coming.

For all of you who have cruised Disney before:

September 27th is the day I get to book my excursions, Palo, and the spa, Since we are on the west coast we get to book on the 26th at 9:01pm.....Is this correct? Can I sign my kids up for the oceaneer club at this time?
When booking this stuff do I need all our information, passport numbers, credit card numbers, etc.?

Then I can book my port arrival time at 3:00am? Do I need to put in the passport information and credit card again? I am wondering because the other two people in the cabins have to work the next day, so i was going to do the arrival times for all of us if it is possible. Or should they get up and do it?

We are mountain time and weren't able to do anything until just after 1:00 AM (3:00 AM Eastern) so I am guessing that you may not be able to do it until midnight, but I would think that you could do everything at that time. I put everything in all at one time. The system saves each of your steps and goes in the following order:
Guest Information, Identification - passports, Pre/Post Cruise Information - travel plans, Onboard Account - credit card information, Port Arrival Time, Review Contract, Signature Form.

You don't actually needs to sign the forms at this time. You can either print them out now or log back in and print them out later, just make sure you do it before you head off to your cruise.

Things I did for my first Disney cruise:
1)Decorated pillow cases for each child with their favorite character. Turn these in in ziplock bags (along with a permanent marker)to the customer service desk (I forget what Disney calls it), and pick it up at the end of the cruise (or they will call you) and they will be all signed by the Disney charactors. I included a bag of candy bars for the characters. My grandkids are still sleeping on those pillow cases!
2)Pick up a picture frame mat from your craft store for a 5x7 or 8x10 photo. Pack it along with permanent markers in a ziplock bag and leave it with the customer service desk for the characters to sign. I included a bag of candy bars for the characters. When you get your pictures back you have an autographed matt to put around it for your own special memory!
3)I used graphics that I found on the internet to make custom autograph books for each child. I did not have pictures of my grandchildren with the characters (some people use those and they are so cute) but I had special pages for all the charactors that generally are on the cruise to give autographs! I used shutterfly to prepare and have the books printed. They were great. Hand made ones are really wonderful as well! I am not so good at that so I stick to the digital stuff!
4)Magnets. I became obsessed with magnets for the cabin door. I could not sleep, work or think about anything except magnets. I populated three cabin doors with personalized magnets. My family thought I had lost my mind! I think I might have for a bit too! If you are interested you can go to:

and just read and read. I ordered magnets and used a cheap inkjet printer and cut them out myself and my magnets were wonderful!
5)And, don't forget the FE. I had an entire large size suitcase of stuff. I thought DH was going to murder me before we got it on the ship and it all passed out. It was so worth it. The most fun was letting the kids give the gifties out to other FE participants. They loved the giving...and then there was always a little something for them each day. I took a couple of surprise gifties for my grandkids, just in case our FE ended up empty for a day. But it never did!

There are so many great ideas for things to do by searching here on the disboards. Just take a look and you may see something that will make your trip fun and make a memory for later!

Anyone has any ideas to share, I would love to see them posted here!

I understand that one of the decorations on the ship for the holidays is a large gingerbread house and one of the activiites is making small gingerbread houses. I quess in order to do this you have to sign up and the tickets go fast. So as soon as you get on board go to guest services and sign up also signing up for tea party tickets.

It was easy to print them up, then you have to cut them out and I sprayed them with a sealer. They held up really well. If you find the ones you like on the magnet thread and ask, the artists there will make them for you and all you will have to do is print them and cut them out. I think you can get the magnet sheets at craft stores. I did a search for them on the internet and purchased them from a store there. A pack of 25 should certainly fill up your door and more!

This is the vendor and the product that I used for my magnets. The magnetic media is: Thickness - 11 mil
That thickness is important! It also still works on my "cheap" inkjet printer really well. It is a bit more thickness than you will see at business supply stores or craft stores (at least it was when I researched it).

So, this is what I used. I had three doors to do. Just check around and get your best deal!

During the process I trashed quite a few and made all 4 of my grandkids multiple magnets with their name on them to give to friends on the ship (if they were lucky enough to make any!) Ha. That "friend" magnet thing was a huge flop. No one wants a princess magnet with someone elses name on it. OK, I know, bad Grandma.

They still have ALL of the magnets I made for them and their door. It takes two refrigerators (kitchen and garage) to house all of them. Fun. We had three cabins. Two sets of grandparents and the parents/grandkids. Each night, the kids would put their "mouseear with their name" magnets on the cabin door they were sleeping in that night...they floated wherever they wanted to stay out out of the three cabins!

Is there lots of pin trading among the kids? Should I buy my kids some? I don't want to get there and the kids start begging for some pins cause all the other kids have them. I was thinking about just buying a lot of maybe 25 for the 3 kids to split from eBay. I'm sure I don't want to buy more than 1 per kid on board the ship. Suggestions are much appreciated.
