December 11, 2010 7 Night Western Magic (Part DEUX)

Could you give us more info on the CC 5K run? My DH and I may be interested in doing the 5K. Thanks!
Please do! The more the merrier!
It is at 8:30AM the morning of CC stop. The meeting place changes but it is in the navigator, so we'll know the night before where to meet (usually somewhere close to the ramp to get off the ship). It starts at the dock and goes across the path behind the family beach out to the tram tarmac, down the backside of the bikepath by serenity beach to the lookout tower dead end then turn around and backtrack to the dock. I hear its closer to 4 miles and they give you about an hour to do it (so it could be walk-jogged as long as you keep moving lol). Even at my worst I run about a 10 min mile which is SLOW but I can do 4 miles in in 40-45 minutes so I figure I'll be OK,.:scared:
They give you a cool certificate and water bottle when you finish! My DD10 runs, my DD12 does as little physical activity as required, but I'm tryign to get her going so she can do it too. DH will go too, if I drag his butt out of bed!
I am hoping to do the CC 5K...we'll see how I feel. After the Full in Jan., DH and I decided to try for a 3rd kiddo...we were successful, but the pregnancy was short-lived and we miscarried at 10 weeks. Almost immediately after the miscarriage, I contracted mono from my 5 yo...so I've been slowly getting my energy back and working on rebuilding my fitness. I had to basically start from scratch.

My DH and I are both Air Force and we've not been living under the same roof for the last 3 months...he was gone for training for 6 weeks in Aug., and I'm away from home now. One more week and we'll be able to get back on track for working on our 3rd ;) So I'm hoping to be pregnant again by the time we cruise. If I am, I'd be so early along that I'll probably still be okay to do the 5K. I'll probably try to drag my DS along too...he completed a 5K with me at WDW and had a blast.

Sorry for the book, but it's hard to tell only parts of the story without confusing people.

No apologies, I totally understand the miscarriage thing AND the never seeing your DH (we both work in law enforcement so we've worked 6 month shifts where I sleep when he's awake and he sleeps when I'm awake with no days off together which is really hard on the relationship!) I miscarried my 4th and it took us another year to get our schedules back on track to try:hug: . I've been lucky enough to go to P/T work now so at least the kids get to see one of us more often!
Sending baby making vibes your way!:goodvibes

I may join you gals and guys on the 5 K. I am so trying to get back to Jogging.
I did the Circle of life 5k in 2009 at WDW. Trained to do a Half here locally but Just couldn't swing it in my middle age years. But a nice slow 5 K around CC sounds wonderful.

Mer :upsidedow

AWESOME!:thumbsup2 We can do our cruise meet at the 5k!

My kids are selling SO MANY different things for school fundraisers it is mind boggling!

I don't know what these schools are thinking but I would rather shell out the $200 for science camp and $500 for Choir tour then pay 3X the value for junky stuff. I can't believe they think people will pay $11 for a roll of wrapping paper they can get for $4 at Target?

My 7th grader has had a different fundraiser every 2 weeks since school started- Cookie Dough for Science Class (not science club..all science classes are selling ie all students!), nuts & candy for PTA, misc junk catalog for Choir and now the misc junk catalog...It's never ending!

Ps anyone want to buy/renew magazines or buy misc junk??:headache:

How's this for our final image? iF you like it, then you can add it to your siggie..It's not plagerized but "heavily influenced" by the other meet's beautiful logo! (and i have to give credit to Milliepie- I used one of her graphics and added to it)

re: brunch at Palo I made our reservations at 90 days but went in at 75 to try to get reservations for my inlaws. The odd thing was that there was still brunch showing for me under our name as being available but nothing for my inlaws. Weird. I booked them for dinner only and hope that I can add them to our brunch reservation.

I just wanted to let you know that maybe you should check for brunch reservations again.

None show on my reservation but on both of the two linked to mine they show availability for brunch.

So maybe there would be some available for your in laws :confused3

That computer system is crazy! I have not seen brunch available from day 1 and I have checked several times a day every day since 90 days out. I think there is a glitch in the system..

I know.

Really strange isn't it :confused3

Thanks, I tried to check for them again. All that shows is dinner and when I click on dinner, there actually are no open times! Very wacky site.

:rotfl: I never actually clicked on them to see if anything came up as available. Sorry.

Just thought it was interesting that they were showing some.

Who is going to decide when/where/what we are going to do for a cruise meet?

I would like to recommend we all do the tequila tasting for our meet because it's much more interesting when alcohol is involved.:rotfl2:

Ok seriously, we met on one cruise just before the sail away party on Deck 10, and another in Preludes Bar AFTER the sailaway party. I'm sure there are all kids of other ideas (like setting up a private photo op in the foyer on the first sea day or all going to Bingo together).

I am not up to the challege...;)

Organizing a DIS meet is not all that difficult. All you need to do is pick a time and a place and see how many people show up.

There are many different locations to have one. Some people prefer to do it near the pools, which I don't really care for because it is next to impossible to find people and too busy usually by the pool.

There are many lounges that can be used, Promenade lounge, Diversions etc.

We had one at Diversions once which turned out quite well. It is quiet, out of the way a bit and usually there is a bit of food available and of course the bar is there too. Children are allowed in Diversions before 9pm during the day, so that is no problem.

I think DIS meets need to be kept short because everyone is so excited about being onboard and there is so much going on that most people don't want to spend a lot of time at a DIS meet.

Just my opinions on DISmeets. I am sure that others have plenty of opinions also.

I have booked the exact same excursions that you have booked.

I think for Key West that we will just get off the ship and roam around the area for a bit. Maybe we will stop in to see Hemingway's House, but other than that, no plans yet.

Awesome Cruisin! I'm thinking we are going to do the same in Key West actually. I was thinking that I was going to look up a few things online and mark a route on the hubby's iPhone for us to visit. Of course I have to check out the Blond Giraffe(since I just saw a show highlighting it) and Hemingway's House. My DDs will love the cats there I'm sure!

I have to hit this thread more often...the action is a moving here finally.

Anyone thinking of getting Cabana's on Castaway? I've called several times about how to book them and I'm getting different answers each time. I'm hoping that the last one I got is the right one and that we have to book it on the ship once we get there.
