December 11, 2008 - 3 Night Wonder

DRAT!!!! I will have to brush up on my mental karate skills!

I don't know if this means anything, but on the Disney Cruise website there is still a heck of a deal for Florida Residents for the date of our cruise -- this sort of implies that Disney is trying to fill up rooms, I would think. Here is hoping that you get a nice upgrade when you do finally get your room assignment! :cheer2:

So there may still be hope! Honestly, my mother and I have had a bit of a difficult last few months...I would love for her to get a nice upgrade. She needs it.

Does anyone know if Tinker Bell's new pixie friends have the power to upgrade cabins? I will run out right now and buy the Blu-ray of the movie if that is the case!!

OOohhhh...5 pages now. We sure are a quiet bunch!

Is anyone doing the parks prior to the cruise? We will be staying at CBR before leaving and I got an ADR at Boma for Wednesday night.

:tinker: Yep, it looks like Tinkerbell and friends are at work -- I just found out that we have been upgraded from two Cat. 11 on deck 6 aft to two Cat 8 on deck 7 forward.
I thought it might have been a glitch in the computer :surfweb: Even Tracy my TA at DU didn't know about the upgrade until I emailed to ask about it.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for everyone else on this board that Tink will visit your reservations. :shamrock:
22 more sleeps till we are all on board!

Congratulations on the upgrade!:yay:

YenSid1222 - Boma is on my wish list to try for our next WDW visit. Enjoy!

Well, no sooner than I asked about Tink and she appeared around some reservations...

We booked Cat. 12, got Cat. 10 on Deck 1. Was kind of hoping for Cat. 9...but beggers can't be choosers! Just happy to be on board!

 Let's see if we can take it to 6 pages!!!!

My seven year old DD is BEGGING :worship: me to take Wednsday off from school so we can go to one of the parks to "start our vacation off in the right mood." She is so smart and so "Disneyfied"! We live about 10 miles from the parks "as the crow flies" and can hear (but not see) the fireworks every night. We've been passholders since my daughter was 2 and she is quite spoiled by being able to go to the parks on any whim -- but she has become quite the tour guide when her cousins from up north come to visit! She always tells me that she wants to be a character at Disney when she grows up!

But I digress (I was going somewhere with the post that connected it with the quote... I know I was!)
Since we live so close, I have close to no expereince with the resorts at Disney -- If the monorail doesn't go through it, or the high school where I teach hasn't held prom there I harldy know it exists!
So, where is CBR and what is Boma?
Being a part of the DISBoards has taught me all kinds of new things about WDW!

No assignment yet for us.

jjnshane - CBR is near Hollywood Studios. IIRC, not far from the firehouse we pass. Boma is a buffet restaurant at AKL. Yummy!

CBR = Carribbean Beach Resort
Boma = eating too much at the Animal Kingdom Lodge!

Hello again,

I have noted your request for some postcards......anyone else doing the exchange like something from england? or a surprise?

can someone post a poll of whos on the exchange and ages, male or female, ect, then shopping will be easy.

I posted something last night but it doesnt seem to be on here.

I wanted to brag about BEING UPGRADED TO A CAT 9!!! we found out last night, we couldnt believe it! I paid for 2 cat 12 rooms, and got 2 cat 9's on deck 1. I am really hopeing the rest of you will be upgraded, and hope disney monitor these boards in someway and pick us all off here for the free upgrades! :cool1: :cheer2:

UPS rang my doorbell last night and dropped off the cruise documents!
YAY!!!!!!:yay:

On a side note...
Collecting all kinds of trinkets and doo-dads for the FE exchange -- hope I don't have to bring it all home!!!!!! :rolleyes1

Magnets for our cabin doors are all done and are currently decorating the inside of our front door! :goodvibes

WHEEEE!!!!!

Our cruise documents arrived this afternoon!:cheer2:

We are driving 2/3 of the way on Wednesday. I finally made the hotel reservation last night. My next task will be door magnets, FE and gifts.

LA, LA, LA, LA, LA

Just trying to push this forum to 6 pages.

Made the Fish Extenders for our stateroom and my mom & dad's stateroom today. Just need to put iron-on characters on them! I'd post a picture, but I'm not sure how! :confused3

Hope everyone is doing well and is as excited as I am! I worry that by the time I get on the ship I will be exhausted! :scared:

Did you use a pattern for your fish extenders? A FE is still on my to-do list. I have looked for a card holder to use in place of making a FE. No luck so far. It may be a handmade one after all.

I cannot believe the cruise is getting so close. I think I have thought about, read about or dreamed about this trip for more hours than we will actually be on the boat.:)

Hi all,
I am from the UK and will also be cruising on Dec 11th with my family. There are 5 of us - me and hubby and our kids 8,6 and 1. It is so close now and we are getting very excited, it will be our 11th trip to Florida but our first cruise. We will celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and our eldest daughters 9th birthday so we are hoping for some pixie dust to come our way. We already have an upgrade from cat 12 to cat 9 :cool1: so that was very exciting!

I am wanting to do some magnets, I have the paper but not the designs - where do you all get them from? Also the fish extender - am I too late?

cheers
Heidi

I made two FEs in about 3 hours and I am not really great with sewing, or measurments or anything like that! :rolleyes1

I didn't use a pattern, but I did use the instructions on this forum page

I used felt and skipped the interfacing -- felt is sturdy enough to stand up on its own. I also use satin blanket binding instead of the twill tape and I did not put any twill tape or binding at the bottom of each pocket. I will have to figure out a way to post a picture! I used black felt for the back, red for the pockets and yellow and white blanket binding so that it is the colors of the ship.

I too have thought about and read about this trip for more hours than we will be on the ship. My hubby makes fun of me and rolls his eyes every time he sees me reading on DISboards!

Hi Heidi -- Welcome!

Here is a thead that has a lot of graphics for magnets:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1523226

I found graphics that I liked (especially ones without wording), saved it to my computer and then used Microsoft Publisher to add in my own phrases, names and dates.
I didn't use magnet paper, I just printed it out on regular paper, mounted that onto construction paper to give it some strength and then had it laminated (I work at a school and the ladies in the Media Center were more than happy to do that for me -- I think they got a kick out of the pictures!) Then I stuck on little strips of magnet tape -- the tape wasn't very sticky, so I then had to hot glue the magnets on! :rolleyes1

I can't wait to meet everyone!

Thank you sooo much! There are some great designs and I have set hubby hard at work :surfweb:
cheers
Heidi

jjnshane - Thanks for the help and tips for the FE. I will be taking a trip to the fabric store this week.

Hello Heidi! I think we have several people celebrating birthdays on this cruise. We will be celebrating DH's birthday on Castaway Cay day. I cannot think of a better way to celebrate your birthday than on Disney's private island. Congratulations on your upgrade!

You are very welcome! Good luck with your FE!

I have lost track of the number of birthdays for our little cruise to paradise! I'll have to go through this thread and write it all down -- mah , it will give me something to do over Thanksgiving break!

:goodvibes 18 days!

Okay so the magnets are underway and I need to make a FE. How do I find out what gifts I need to buy and what peoples stateroom numbers are?
cheers
Heidi
