Hi DIS friends!
We just got back from our surprise 4-day trip to AKL and the parks! We had a blast and the weather was terrific. AKL is awesome! I got to see Mickey's Philharmagic and it is now my favorite 3D show.
We got to see first-hand how devastating a hurricane could be. Not from Frances but from Charley. We could see a sea of blue rectangles (tarps) on the houses from the airplane. The damage to some of the houses between the airport and WDW was really sad to see. I can only imagine what it is like for those in Grenada and Grand Cayman today...

Yes,I hear Charley and Francees did a lot of damage to that area.I haven't been there yet.We are going in a few weeks to take something to Shrley at the Perfect Gift,

I am glad you all had a great time.I will have to check out AKL.We haven't stayed there yet.I am going to WDW in November for soap weekend, but I am just going to MGM.I am looking forward to it as we don't frequent the parks as much as we use too.

You all have a great week!

Maria

How did we get to the second page?
Maria - any problems from Ivan up there? We just got a little wind yesterday.
What's everyone been up to? Anyone have any ideas what excursions they are going on?

fran

Hi everyone! We are doing the St Maarten Land tour with Disney as well as renting the bikes at Casstaway Key other then that we are on our own.In St Thomas,DH wants to do the snuba, and we are going to ride the sky ride.We will take care of these ourselves.I plan on shopping for sure!!!!I am wanting to try that guavaberry so bad.I love guava fruit as I was born in Cuba, and one can't find it here in the US.I was surprised when someone on the board talked about St Maarten having it.We will see!

Ivan was nice to us.DH saw some clouds last night, and he said that is what Ivan left.It was windy on and off yesterday.I am just glad he didn't leave any rain. Now,this weekend we will continue on working on our yard due to Frances. The front is done, but the back we are still working on.There is another hurricane coming to FL Monday or Tuesday, but I am hoping and praying it stays in the water.Tropical Number 12 was announced last night. What did we do to deserve one after another. It has never been like this here.

As time gets closer,we need to decide where we are going to meet.I know I am meeting Jennifer at the Port line<G>.We are so looking forward to meeting you all!

You all have a great weekend!

Maria

Maria - glad Ivan left you alone. Looks like Jeanne will be going away from Florida. Thank God!!!

Is everyone up for meeting at the sailaway party? The Port line is a good place to look for people. We all need to wear our lime green for sure.

Just 12 weks from right now!

fran

I am so glad those of you in Floriday are recovering. And also relieved that the current storm activity in the Atlantic doesn't look like it will be making landfall.

While helping out in DD's class at school yesterday, the kids had a few minutes of free time and were building things with lego-like pieces. Several of them built hurricane models based on the radar pictures they see on the news. Just shows how much this crazy season has been on everyone's minds - even here in Texas where we haven't even had any threats.

What/where is the port line?

Also, is anyone going to WDW either before or after the cruise? Anyone going to MVMCP? We are trying to plan our WDW schedule.....

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi,

Just booked the 12/11/04!!!:Pinkbounc We have two teens dd17 and ds16. are there other teens cruising at this time???

Thanks Lynda:thewave:

Yes,it looks like we are going to get a break from the hurricanes at least for right now.The sun is out again today. It is nice seeing it!Thank God the weather has improved around here!

Sailaway party we usually go up to deck ten and face the terminal as we find it to be less crowded there, and you don't miss anything .Yes,we will definitely be looking for you all at the port line.We will be having Dispins on which will have our screen names on them.

Yes,just 12 more weeks from now!

Maria

Julie, yes,it goes to show that the hurricanes are on everyone's minds. These poor kids aren't going to want to come to FL.Yes,you all have been very lucky this year.I am glad about that as you all have had your share. No,we aren't going to WDW before the cruise. We are about three hours from port,so we are driving there that morning. We plan on leaving Gator territory pretty early as we want to get to port early.

Welcome Lynda!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Maria

Welcome Lynda! :D It is nice to have AZ represented among our travelers. No teens with our party, but I have heard there are always a good group of teens traveling.

I hope with all the hurricanes there will be islands left to visit! The islands along with Florida are getting hit way too often this season.

Tomorrow I can get our seats assigned on NWA. That means time is slowly moving towards our cruise.

Kathy

bump...bump...bump...

Thought we should be on the first page. I know that's where I look first!!!! i didn't look to see if this had been answered so forgive me if it has. The port line is the left turn lane to drop off your luggage and passengers before parking in the secured lot. It starts to fill up some time around 9:30 or 9:45 in the morning. Can't wait cause this weekend I will be making my SNUBA ressie with the people directly(this is NOT offered by Disney as an excursion). Remember this Saturday will mark 11 weeks to go!!!

:bounce:  :Pinkbounc :hyper: :wave2:

What time again do you need to make reservations for Paolos? If we are a group in a number of different cabins, can I reserve for more than one cabin at the same meal? for example, if cabins 1 and 2 want to eat together one night, can I reserve for them, or does someone from each cabin have to stay in the line?

Hi all. Fall is officially here - so another milestone is past.

Hey, Ratt45 - what exactly is SNUBA?

Am I right thinking we should be getting our excursion information fairly soon?

fran

This post goes out to our special 12/11 cruise DIS friends in Florida! Hold on tight! It's gonna be another wild ride! My prayers are with you guys!

Also, seems as though our beloved Castaway Cay survived Ivan but did it survive Jeanne???

Re: excursions - who knows when we'll get our info with all these hurricanes, Disney will probably take a while to catch up! I think we are going to do it all on our own this trip - but it will be fun to read whatever they send us!

Re: Snuba -- it is sort of like scuba except your air tank is still on the boat and you can go as far as your air tube will take you. I've never done it but it sounds fun. You get to go deep like scuba but you don't have to have all the training!

Thanks Jennifer! We could surely use the prayers here in FL.I am more worried about this one then I was Frances.I was informed today by one of my dcparents that the eye will be going over Gainesville. That was a little more then I cared to find out. When are these hurricanes going to stop?

DH will be doing the snuba.I am going to probably stay on the boat while he does it or shop near by the place where he will be doing it at.I am skipping this one.He is really looking forward to it.I can't wait for the spa.I love the rainforest!

I called DCL about two weeks ago,and they said we will be able to book excursions in October. The only excursion we will be doing is in St Maarten where we will be doing the island tour other then that we are on our own.

You all have a great rest of the weekend. Our friends here in FL prayers for safety your way!

Maria

Hey Maria,
I love those heated tile loungers in the rainforest room. Shall we make a pact? If you hear me snoring - wake me up and I'll do the same for you:o

Hi Jennifer,Yes,those great chairs in the rainforest. The pact is on between you and I.I could use one of those right now.I can't wait my dear friend!I wish December would hurry and get here.

The weather here in Gainesville is ugly.It is very windy and rainy. The street is already starting to flood.I ask myself what did Floridians do to deserve this?We are okay which is all that matters! Some of the other areas close by already have no power!I hope everyone in FL on this thread is okay!Prayers your way!

Everyone have a great Sunday!

Maria

Maria, I hope all is well with you after this storm passes. It is hard to imagine this many BIG storms hitting one state in one season. And to think the hurricane season has 2 months to go!

I am heading to WDW on Wednesday a.m. with my niece for her 8th birthday present. This will be her first airplane ride (and believe me she is really afraid). I hope the ride doesn't turn out to be a terribly bumpy ride. It will be a short trip, 3 nights at the Poly. I was nervous when I was watching the weather channel and Orlando was going to be hit again.

All is well, the airport is opening tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. and the parks are all open their regular times, so by Wednesday it should be running smoothly (I hope).

The unlucky ones on the cruise that left this weekend end up with only a 5 day cruise since the Magic is leaving from Ft. Lauderdale tomorrow.

Well, hang in there everyone in Florida! Keep safe. I hope you have power as well. My family in Florida are getting bery tired of going to shelters!

Villaness! I am so jealous! We went to the parks a couple weeks ago (actually between Francis and Ivan) and the parks were SO empty. We had so much fun! Even though your trip is short, you'll get to do lots of things because there'll be no lines. WOW - an 8 year-old's frist trip to WDW - how magical!
