December 10, 2009 3 Night Bahamian Cruise

We made some magnets with the inkjet magnet paper last cruise and they turned out great. We will for sure be able to use one over as it was not date specific, just 2009. I laminated some mickey heads from home depot and stuck pieces of magnet strip to the back, they held up well and will be on our door again!
Since we are a group of three cabins, I'm planning on getting everyone a small white board to stick on the door and leave messages too.

I think my FE is going to be a Disney stocking! I'm pretty sure I'll find a cute one somewhere!!!
I've finally come up with some ideas for gifts, nothing too fancy, but fun. I am thinking I'll be delivering on the Nassau day, because I don't plan to spend a lot of time ashore that day. I don't think we're going to do an excursion, maybe just shop a bit in the morning and hit the pools later.

Make sure you post a pic. I'm jealous that you can sew!!I can't sew on a button!!:lmao: It sounds like it is going to be really cute!! Can't wait to see it!!

:lmao: Oh I can't sew!! The FE is the no-sew kind, with the heat-n-bond! The embroidery machine is idiot proof, you just thread and push a button! No sewing required! :thumbsup2

I don't know about idiot proof. If it involoves needle and thread I could screw it up! :rolleyes1

It has a walk thru diagram that's even NUMBERED 1-6 so you can't screw it up! I'm telling you it's soooooo easy to use!! And....it automatically threads the needle!! you just pust the thread thru step 1-6, and it's done! Needle threaded, push start!

Send it back! - It was 28 here this morning.

WOW - where are you located? I am in CT and we have been in the 90s for the past few days....and it's been in the low to mid 60s when I leave for work...it's crazy hot here!

A storm is brewing though and it will cool back off to high 60s/low 70s for the rest of the week....

I'm at 221 days til Disney and can't wait!!

I know I have saved the FE "how to" thread, but haven't had a chance to read it. Can someone give me the Reader's Digest version?

Does everyone give gifts each day or just one day since it's a short cruise? I would love to join, but don't want to over commit myself since it's our first cruise and it's only a 3 day (already planning on re-booking for a longer one).

bought my flights today!! $137 pp nonstop from Indy! WOO HOO!!!

WOW -- what airline?? what time is your flight home after the cruise? That is what I'm worried about. SW seems to have stopped the early afternoon fight, so the early direct is at 11:00 am and on Delta at 10:30 AM. I'm concerned about making that and don't want the late direct flight since the kids have to go to school in the AM. And connecting flights are more expensive and get me home at the same time as sthe late direct!!!

UGH

You can give gifts one day, two days, or all three. It is totally up to you.

It's Airtran from Indy to Orlando. Our return leaves at 340pm. PLENTY of time to be the last ones off the ship!

wish me luck that no one has swine flu going to bamboozle this weekwnd and that I don't get it

Unfortunately, Air Tran doesn't fly out of Hartford....I just checked and the closest airport is Boston which may be an option if we can't find better flights in/out of Hartford. The only bad thing is adding 2 hours for commuting each way (and cost if we park or hire a service)....

this is getting me very depressed with the flight prices quite honestly....

we have a 2 hr drive to Indy, and our flight leaves at 7am, so we'll end up going down the night before and getting a hotel room. but even the cost of the hotel room will still be a savings over what we would have paid out of SBN.

Doesn't Southwest fly direct from Hartford to Orlando? Southwest and JetBlue have not released their November and December flights yet. It might be a few months before they do so. You need to book Southwest directly on their website. Unless you are traveling over the holidays, you will see the costs fluctuate quite a bit once they are released. Not long ago we were able to get $150 round trip from Buffalo on a direct flight. You have to watch their website or sign up on their website for special offers. Southwest does not charge for the first 2 checked bags. I believe Airtran charges for all checked bags - each passenger pays $15 for the first checked bag and $25 for the second checked bag. I travel in and out of Boston quite a bit and parking for a week is going to cost at least $100 at an offsite lot. If you see a good deal in Boston make sure it will really save you in the long run.

The open seating with Southwest is a little odd but the flight attendants were great and made sure kids sat with their parents. Southwest did not participate in Disney's onsite check in and I don't thing they do with DCL either.

I am going to hold on for a few months and try to get JetBlue (they fly direct to Orlando from Rochester). IF that doesn't work out I will look at Southwest through Buffalo.

Hi Minnie Meese - yes, SW does fly direct from Hartford to Orlando, and I have been checking to see what fares are even though December isn't out yet (not until June 23). However, they don't seem to have the early afternoon direct anymore for the flight home.

The flight home is my problem...I don't want a bunch of connections that get me home late (kids need to go to school in the AM) and the directs are at 11 AM (which may be cutting it close) or not until like 5 PM where we will get home late again. Update: I just checked (picked dates in September) and they have the direct at 10:50 AM (which is my preference) and a 1:00 PM flight that connects and gets home at 5 which isnt THAT bad, as we live only 10 minutes from the airport. That may be what we end up doing....we'll see if they add another direct for December for me.

I will probably end up on SW and hope that we make the 11 Am flight home....will need some pixie dust for that!

I am just such a planner that it is killing me not to have all my flights done yet (we booked this trip last June!!!). Today marks the 7 month mark til the trip, so that is good news.
