After 8 months of trying to obtain the proper paper work my brother in-laws naturalization paper work is still not in order, so my sister and I just had a long talk and reached the decision to cancel our cruise while we can still get all of our $$$$ refunded.
Background on this issue: My brother in law was born in Germany, to German citizens. They moved to the U.S. when he was an infant. His parents became American Citizens which made their children under 18 American Citizens as well. Well, both my BIL's parents passed away more than 20 years ago and none of the essential paper work can be found, my BIL's birth certificiate, his German Passport, his parents naturalization papers, etc. He always thought his sister had them, she thought an Aunt had them. He has been to the German consulate, filled out all kinds of forms, and now, we still have nothing, not an american passport nor a German passport. He cannot leave the country! Of course he is a citizen, as his parents were, and if that were not enough he has been married to my sister for 17 years! We will eventually get this sorted out, the consulate has assured us we can, however the original 8 months that we thought would be "plenty of time" was not enough.
It has been an extreme pleasure meeting all of you, and I wish you smooth sailing. You can bet on the 10th, as I'm strolling around WDW (we will extend our stay there) I will be thinking of you guys.
Bon Voyage!!
