December 10, 2006 - 12/10/06 Wonder

i'm sorry, but every time I see "Fish Extender" I keep thinking of "Hamburger Helper."

I like the stocking idea too!!! I will have to check the things out. They almost look like a Christmas card organizer too. I cant wait to see the paper dolls. Babybird must have a lot more patience than I. I need to start getting more organized on what I am mailing and what I need to pack. I wanted to make us T shirts but I dont see that happening. We have three suitcases of "disneyworld / cruise stuff" and no clothes. I really needed the fish extender!!!!!!! LOL I have no idea what I am going to do, but if someone mentioned it, I bought it and packed it. We are more than prepared, if you found you left something at home......just find me.

BabyBird has an empty nest - I've got time to burn compared to the rest of you!

Babybird - I dread the day our nest becomes empty. I watch my sisters as their nest are becoming empty and they are so sad because noone is going to a local college. I bet you will have the best door decorations!!!!

I have my favorite travel bag (purse) that is a black leather ameribag sling. I was at the book store the other day and guess what I saw.......a DIS green nylon ameribag sling. To buy or not to buy. I know I may would carry it for travel in the spring or summer. Do yall carry a small purse or sling or backpack?

Guess what has been spotted in Memphis? (in the Mississippi River) A manatee!!!!!! He has made his way all the way up here!!!! They are worried about it being a little on the cold side here.........so they called the zoo.........who said they need to call the feds to get it back to Florida! Needless to say, we are going with our binoculars and I will give yall an update when I get back. Our outdoor guide at school saw it with the primary group this morning and all the older children were so jealous.

We saw the manatee. It actually from our view on top of the bluff about 200 feet away looked like a five or six foot log. So Christie and Howard talked me into going through the woods down to the river with about 10 other people. Naturally, we could see him down there but had a better view on top of the bluff. After we got all the burrs and thorns off us ......we came home. I am not much of a nature person and their school encourages it, so I would have been the bad person if I hadnt done the hike with them.

My nest was never full. We have dogs that we treat like children. Zoey and the Jett are sound asleep on our leather sectional couch as I type. I believe the Jett is snoring as well! We hire someone to come and stay with them and the house while we go on vacation - no way could we do the kennel route - they would freak out if they couldn't sleep in their (our) bed every night.

I have an ameribag too!!!! It is awesome - purchased specifically for the trip but I have been carrying it since my DM and I found it in August. It's great!
You should absolutely get the green one! That is SO cool!
:thumbsup2

Thanks for the giggle...more like Tuna Helper:rotfl2:

I spent some time working with the paper dolls tonight. One more big THANK YOU for directing me to that website!
They are beyond cute! I had to do some minor mods to Joe's hairdo because they didn't have anything that was quite right. I showed him the paperdolls that I am putting on our door - the rest of them will be a surprise!

Kids brought home 2 notes from school today (each!):

1. Riley's best friend in 1st grade has chickenpox. He had the vaccine. None of us has had chickenpox, but have had the vaccine. Note says 10-20 days incubation - I am SO WORRIED! What if we get it in 20 days????

2. Second note - lice going around school. Ummmm...no vaccine for that:rolleyes: :sad2:

Can you imagine???? Being denied boarding because of chickenpox AND lice?

I am seriously sitting here itching all over my body right this instant!

Zoey and Jett sound rotten!!!! Garfield, our cat, gets boarded. He gets a bath, teeth cleaning, etc. while he is there. Zoey and Jett are lucky to have you. William, Christie, and Howard all love animals. This is awful, but I simply tolerate them. I love our cat and turtle (scooby) and dont want anything to happen to them. I just wouldnt make the suggestion to get one. Both Scooby and Garfield are strays!!!!!! My DH is the sucker on that!!!! The children know it too!!!

I think I NEED the ameribag.

Christie got the Mickey mouse jeans and purse to match. They are so cute. She wanted the purse for WDW but that wont happen. I am the official person to carry everything!!!!!! The good news is this year we will have a stroller for our friends little boy.

I am wondering about our stuff for castaway cay...do they have a place for our stuff during excursions?

Chicken pox are pretty much inevitable aren't they? - even if they get it they will be fine by the time you cruise.

Lice on the other hand, that's icky.

I'm so sorry that you received such bad news today. I'm sure the warnings are just that, warnings. Everything will be fine, I'm sure.

Here's a nanner dance to make it okay -

Thanks! The dancing nanner made me smile at least! It is not helping that I am reading the thread on the Community Board about TV shows that make you cry, lol!

Zoey and the Jett are both adopted free-range children. He much more so than she. They are shepherd-mix and are in the 98th percentile in height & weight (50 and 85 pounds respectively).

I don't know about your stuff. I think pretty much all of the excursions but the nanner boat  you can take it with you.
CC is like going to the beach with your family - it's just a really, really BIG family. We had two women that parked themselves next to us at Serenity Bay take pictures of us with our camera while we were snorkeling. They watched our stuff, too but I didn't know them at all. I didn't worry about it regardless. Disney tends to attract people that like to be good to one another.

Heyyyyy - here's another thing to add to your packing list... Take a bandana with you to tie on your umbrella. It will allow you to swim back to your stuff instead of having to hike down the beach to find it. We were the only ones on SB to have the bandana and it was awesome to be able to see our area from far out. :thumbsup2

Great tip about the bandana! Hey, maybe I can find a pirate flag - wouldn't that be the coolest??

Our experience with the vaccine and chickenpox are terrible. Only Howard had the vaccine and I dont remember why. They got their tonsils and adnoids removed at the same time when they were 5 and six. I was also caring for my husbands grandmother that had moved in with us after hip surgery. They were out of school for 9 days. The afternoon of the first day back to school, we got the dreaded note. The next day at lunchtime, I got the dreaded call. BOTH of them had them. Christies was awful. Howards was very mild. However, Howard did get them again the next year another very mild case. Doctor was very puzzled.

So maybe if they do get it (we will be saying a prayer for them), it will be mild. My sisters children have had the vaccine and never gotten it from school. Maybe you be be so lucky.

I've had chickenox twice also. I am scared to death I'll get them as an adult! All of my kids were vaccinated (it's required in CA to send kids to preschool unless you have religious objections). DH had them in high school and almost died. He got them in his throat and lungs?! He was hospitalized for several weeks.
We got the lice notifications too. My kids were in the know-they knew exactly who was sent home and how close of contact they had with those kids (not much at all) so I'm pretty confident we won't have to worry. That would be just AWEFUL though. I feel bad because the one girl that was sent home is the neat, pristine only child who's mother dotes on her. Mom was mortified. She was even talking about sending her daughter to a new school because she was afraid no one would play with her. Our Dr said that lice like clean hair-they get stuck in the oil of dirty hair-Good excuse not to wash hair everyday!

I like the bandana idea. We have a huge pirate flag that we hang on our camp when were at the river (same reason-so we can find our stuff), I'm not sure I have room for it though!

I like the bandana idea too. We put bandanas on our luggage so they are easier to spot at the airport. They are turquios so its kind of an off color. I could just use one of those!!

On the lice issue, I cringe when I see children share hats and brushes. The one thing most people dont think about are sharing hoodies. We havent had the issue at out school and I hope we dont. Children can be so cruel when it comes to stuff like that.

LOVELY topics (not exactly!!!)......ugh! Sorry that you guys are having to deal w/ the chicken pox and lice ( ). Please don't send it my way!

I'm still voice less (not really feeling bad, but squeeky). I made an appt w/ the dr for Friday am (it's been a week w/o my voice).

My parents got in ok yesterday, and we're all going to a Pampered Chef party tonight, then up very early for the hot air balloon ride, then some time at Epcot for Food & Wine (as they have never done it). I will also be stopping by the Give Kids the World Village to drop off some Halloween candy (I volunteer there).

Not sure when I'll check in again (before Friday), but wanted to say HI! :wave2:

BTW - I ended up buying a Tigger Stocking to hang off the Fish (will need to figure out how I'm going to do that).

Almost 6 weeks!!
