December 03, 2005 Western Magic?

The stingray tour looks amazing! Unfortunatly my DS is allergic to salt water, so we will only be doing tours that do not involve water.

My picks so far are
Key West - Conc Republic tour
Grand Cayman - Island tour
Cozumel - Tulum Ruins
Castaway Cay - Maybe just look around

Has anyone tried any of these?

Where can I get more info on this excursion? What is the price? My daughter is 6 I'm not sure if this would be good for her but my DH & I are interested!

Hi ya'll! Just got back from visiting my grands, (and my children, lol). It was my Madeline's 5th birthday, time passes so fast! Unless you are waiting for your cruise! :teeth:

Captain Marvin's is a really good excursion. We went with them last time we visited GC. Kids from about 5 and up. They don't have to go in the water either, the guide will usually bring a stingray up close to the boat. My DD (chichihoney) wouldn't go near the water, but she enjoyed the boat trip. Love you, Sarah! :love2:

Here's the website for Captain Marvin's:

Capt' Marvins will only cost us $108 for 2 adults and 2 kids under 12 while DCL will cost $170 for the exact same excursion. I'd rather go with Capt' Marvin and spend the extra $62 on konk coolers.:drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1

Hi everyone. Glad to see you back Gailyn - we missed you!!

We're thinking about doing Captain Marvin's also. Seems there are 2 kinds - Short Excursion (2 hours) and Half Day (3 hours). We may go for the extra time so we can do a little snorkeling - you don't really snorkel at Stingray City. Thinking about the 10-1 trip. Seems we can make it without a problem - has anyone gone early?

Susan - I agree that it is fun with others. And I really want to find some people with kids (5-7) because I'm sure my son (6) is going to stay on the boat and not get in the water. He had a ball last year on the Pirate Ship excursion in St Thomas - with the other kids.

Other plans (tentative) - all on our own
Key West - Butterfly Conservatory and Pirate Museum pirate:
Cozumel - beach

and
Matt :moped: :hourglass  :3dglasses :earseek: :love1:

Suzanne - I did the Tulum Ruins tour many years ago. The ruins were fasinating - I love that kind of thing - but I remember a long bus ride and it was very hot while we toured the ruins. I haven't done any of the other tours you mention. How old is your son? I dont' think the kids club on Castaway Cay gets anywhere near the water, but they have some interesting activities. That might be an option there if he's young.

Is anyone else thinking about their excurions yet?

Diane

Diane I've missed you too. We ARE thinking about excursions!!! We were thinking of two choices for Key West: Pirate museum pirate: and ???, or kids in kids club and Greg, Me, Grandma and Grandpa in Margaritaville, Sloppy Joes etc :) .....I know I would like to stop in a couple bars for sentimental reasons of course :) :) .....

On Grand Cayman Captain Marvin's or beach and short tour. If others are doing Capt. Marvins, it would be appealing. I'm just not sure if the kids will go in the water??? Greg and I would do snorkeling though. I was just on the Doubloon.com website printing off the "Banana Bender" recipe to have on hand for summer get togethers   ! The Doubloon Sail and Snorkel was truly one of the best memories of our trip :flower: !! Matt had a great time with his new dis friend Matt, Nicole met her friend Luke (they were inseparable for the rest of the cruise) and Greg and I had a great time with NJ Cruisers and the other adults :sunny: :sunny: . I hope we can do some group excursions this time around too. We really have great memories of our excursions last year :grouphug: !

We will probably do beach time in Cozumel or maybe a short tour then beach time.

Anyone up for a group Palo brunch or dinner? We did that last year and it was very fun.

I hope all is well with everyone!!! As we get closer to our trip, I would be interested in having pen pals for our kids, Nicole will have just turned 8 and Matt will be 6 when we leave. I know Matt is looking so forward to seeing his friend Matt from last year (NJ Cruisers son) and they will for sure be pen pals, but it would be nice to add some others as well.

Have a great weekend! :sunny:

Gailyn

Diane, thanks for the input on the ruins tour. If I don't meet anyone else taking the tour I'll maybe bring a book for the bus. My son is 11 and is looking forward to seeing the ruins too. He studied them in school. I thought about taking the shorter tour to the ruins on the island but they didn't seem as interesting.

I would like to go to Palo's for brunch. I was thinking when it opens online (60days??), I'd book a table for 2 & maybe I'd meet someone to go with but If not I'll still go and just eat their share.

Suzanne, Count us in for a group Palo brunch! There are 4 of us. We loved the brunch last year, even more so than dinner!

I heard that you could book Palo on-line 90 days in advance as long as you are paid in full. I don't know if that's correct???

we are getting closer to cruise time woohoo. just as a reminder i make dcl magnetic door signs. i made about 30 last year and everyone loved them. my only cost is friendship and a few MT DEWS (red or green dews) send a PM to me or DW and we will begain the fun for this years cruise. i hope to hear from ya

Glad to see this thread getting some action! I have been absolutely swamped lately! Now that soccer is over and school is almost out, I just might get my life back. I only have about another full day of painting to do inside and that will be about it for a while (unless I get adventurous again). Then I have to rip out the carpet from the family room, the boy's playroom, the stairs and the upstairs hall. The new carpet is installed Monday morning. We did manage to stain about 1/2 of our fence this weekend. We went through over 15 gallons of stain. Rick went to buy another 15 gallons today. Whew! What a chore!! That's ok though... it give me and Rick 'talk' time. Life has been too crazy for that lately. I taught Colton how to ride a bike yesterday. And, he got his first hit of the season at the game tonight. How is that for progress?!?!? Well, my calendar for June is looking much better than March and April so I just might have some time for planning. Rick was asking where my notebook was the other day. I haven't been seen referring to it lately!!! :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

Toodles!!! :moped:

this smile reminds me of john pirate: don't forget my birthday on this cruise
jeanna :love2: u need to start postibg mre before susan gets u :rotfl2:

Hi!
I'd be very interested in getting my kids into the penpal group. Is anyone setting this up?
I have a DD who will be 8 and a DS who will be 9. This will be their 3rd Disney Cruise. We were going to go to Ireland, but figured we'd give the kids another run on the ship and take them to Ireland when they get a little older. :teeth:
I wasn't complaining....I'm a Disney gal! :earsgirl:

I'm still trying to talk some friends into joining us on the cruise. The more the merrier!
So please let me know if anyone is setting up the penpal list.
Thanks!
Kitty

:hourglass Gardencraft and husband will be on this cruise, our 2nd DCL cruise, part of our 30th anniversary celebration. Last day of the cruise, Dec. 10 will be my birthday and we are continuing on to WDW and Wilderness Lodge for the night. Can't wait!

Mooch,

I will ask DD9 if she would like to have a penpal this summer. She won't actually be 9 for another month so I think she would be interested in making a new friend, even if she is a little bit younger. She still talks about the DD of one of last years cruise mates. This is also her 3rd DCL cruise.

Gardencraft,

Welcome to our krazy group. Congrats on the 30 yrs together. I find numbers like that to be amazing these days. LOL We will be celebrating 1 of our DD's b-days the day we sail, and Jeanna and her dad will be celebrating their b-day also. It will definetly be a party boat.:bday: :cake:

John wanted me to make sure everybody knows about this.:dancer: :cheer2:

this made it to the bottom of page 2. i guess everyone is having summer fun. jeanna is slacing off LOL have fun yall

Rick and I are interested in the Palo Brunch. We enjoyed it last year. It would be great if some of us did it together because then the kids can be in the club together. My son doesn't particulary like the club but if his buddies are there that's a different story.

Kitty - last year we didn't have any type of penpal list - we just found the people with kids the same age (check Lizardman's list on the first page) and wrote asking if their kids wanted to be penpals. It was more of a one-on-one thing. The older kids might want to start now, but we'll probably wait a little for the younger ones (5-7) - maybe 2 or 3 months before the cruise. BUT .. if any 5-7 year olds are ready to start just let me know.

From what I have read (haven't experienced it yet), the online booking starts 90 days out for those how have cruised before on Disney.

Jeanna - with the AAA group, do we get to pick our dining rotation? I thought I read that, but maybe it was just if you have the REAS package. It would be good to know our rotation so we could do the brunch on a day other than the character breakfast.

Diane

Some of us are planning to have brunch at Palo's on Sunday, this of course is the same day as our character breakfast. We are going to take the kids to breakfast, not eat, and then drop them at the club on our way to brunch at Palo's. I'll take the eggs benedict at Palo's anyday over the regular breakfast in the dining rooms. And hopefully we will be able to watch as we sail into Key West.:boat:
