I checked the entertainment schedule for the first part of Dec and so far no Fantasmic, but fireworks are listed. Is Fantasmic down? Dec 10-12 2 of the days are Friday and Sat! I'm bummed I want to see the new dragon. I know it was running on Fridays last year because I have pictures of my family waiting for it on a Friday nignt, or is it still too early for it to be listed on the schedule? :sad1:

I remember a quote from Al Lutz over at Mice Age (August 25, 2009) that made me wonder if Fantasmic! would be closing down in December. The article was about the late arrival of Murphy the Dragon.

"The silver lining is that Fantasmic! has now been added back to all weekends until Thanksgiving, after originally being slated to close for the fall."

I read this to mean that F! was going to orginally be closed in the fall, but open back up in the winter before the post-holiday refubishment of Rivers of America. But, maybe it meant that they decided to run it through the fall and now it's closed until after they empty and re-fill ROA.

I am wondering if it has something to do with the Rivers of America, too. As I see that Tiana's Showboat Jubilee, which takes place on the ROA, is not scheduled at all in December thus far either. Last date it is scheduled is November 30th.

I noticed this last week and it made me extremely sad. I was planning on hitting up Fantasmic on this upcoming trip. :(

WE WANT FANTASMIC!

They better not drain it until after the holidays!!!

I don't think they will. Currently they have the schedule up through Dec 14. No Fantasmic after 11/29, but also no closures listed for things like the Mark Twain, Tom Sawyers Island, etc.

I think 3TinksAndAnEeyore has it right with the quote from Al Lutz -- they were planning to shut down Fantasmic for the fall & winter anyway, but kept it going after the Murphy fiasco.

Hey Bob, thanks for talking me off the ledge. :rotfl:

I'm bummed about Fantasmic, but if it doesn't run at least that will save me some hassle to get seats, or money, or both. ;)

That's the bright side of things, eh? :) We may use that money now and instead apply it to a fancy-ish dinner.

I'm just happy that the water is probably not going to be drained. I really wanted to take the DD to Tom Sawyer's Island.

Guess we will all have to wait and see. Maybe they are working on the Mark Twain the first two weeks of December - since both Fantasmic! and The Tiana Riverboat show are not showing up. Though it currently doesn't show the Mark Twain as being closed.
Hopefully, they just haven't put it on the schedule yet. Even if it is down the first two weeks of December, it is hard to imagine it would be down the latter part of December when it is so busy.

I am going the second week of December, so keeping my fingers crossed.

Well if there is no F! then I'm really glad we saw it on the 10th!! Sheesh, I would have been really upset if I'd missed the new dragon. :)

Good grief I can't catch a break. I can't go the 3rd week because I'm room parent for my DS5th grade class so I have to do the party, so I changed it to the week before figuring I would at least be able to see it on Friday. If it's closed the "first 2 weeks of Dec" so much for that. I mean I've seen it a million times and it's not that big of a deal but come on I want to see the new dragon!

It'll definitely be disappointing if it's not showing. The photos and youtube videos had us really excited. But like kungaloosh22 mentioned more $ to spend on things other than dessert seating, or not having to stake out seats hours in advance.

On some other site, it said that the ROA was scheduled to be drained in "early 2010" which I took to mean January after the holidays. Take it for what it's worth :confused3 Maybe it will show up, lets not get too upset until it gets closer to Dec :santa:

While it does not tell us whether or not Fantasmic is playing, Disneyland is advertising the Showboat Jubilee as running through January 3, 2010 or something like that. I don't think the ROA will be drained in December. The Jubilee is a temporary show promoting The Princess and the Frog, so I don't think they're going to close down the Mark Twain if they can help it.

IMO, they probably don't have the calendar fully up and running yet. Given how crowded it can get in December, I'd be surprised if they don't have Fantasmic running at least on weekends.

This is what I am hoping.
