Does anyone know when discount codes and AP rates for Dec and Jan come out. I'm thinking about buying an AP so I'll have an excuse to go back within a year.:D Also, I'll probably buy my tix before I leave home. If I buy an AP at my local Disney store will I get a voucher or will I get my AP, and do I have to redeem my AP to get the AP rate or can I just show my voucher? Thanks in advance...

Cheers:)

We bought our AP's at a local Disney Store early December. (Used the DC card for a discount.) We were given a sheet of paper. Once we got to a park in early January, we turned that in and received our AP's in just a few minutes.
I wouldn't be surprised if AP/DC room discounts rates were not out until very late October, or most likely November.
I just book my room whenver and once the rates come out, switch over.
However, I was not able to get an AP rate early this year for our June trip. But i got a rate that was better and anyone could get.
Unless policies have changed, or will change, I have never had to give my DC or AP number when making a ressie. I have never had my AP or DC card looked at when arriving at the resort either.
The room rates for December will most likely come out much sooner than January's room rates. That January 1 cut off seems to hold things up a little.

Luv2Roam-

I made a reservation trough Disney last night and they needed my DC number.

I am checking in late on a Saturday night (will hopefully be using an AP discount). Obviously I can't get to a park at 11pm. Can I just use my voucher or do I need to get the actual ticket?

Thanks-
Erin

I also need my DC number whenever I call to make a ressie lately. As far as AP's, you don't need the AP to book your resort and when you check in, you only need to show them the voucher. I have heard of one or two CM's who asked that you just show your actual AP the next day after you turn in the voucher, but most will accept the voucher. I've never heard of anyone being turned away because they didn't have the AP. It's more likely that they won't even ask for any proof.

When we went in Jan. 2001, the AP discounts came out in late Oct. This Jan. the discounts didn't come out until right before Christmas, so you never know.

We'll be going again this Jan. and hoping to get a great AP rate.

How involved is it to switch over? Don't you need to make a whole new ressie and cancel the old one?

I want to go to Vero Beach in late Oct. - do you thinkI will see AP rates this summer, or should I just go ahead a book now, and then switch like you do? I know you go a lot (crazy pin woman!), so your advice would be appreciated!

Thanks, Nicole

It is not at all difficult to switch. Just find out if you qualify for the AP discount (available room on your dates). If so, just give CM your original conf. number and they'll quickly change the rate. Takes only a minute or two. I can't even count how many tiems I've done it for our upcoming June trip and they still haven't messed anything up. I would book now to make sure they have what you want and change when the dates come out.

Correct -- it takes no time at all to switch. I have my confirmation sheet and just check to see if the new discount rate is available. I have been lucky so far. I watch this board and as soon as I see the rate is avaialable, I call!
For example, for last January's trip I booked mid year '01. I paid the current one night's deposit rate.
Then when I switch over, I just get the new discount rate and then my deposit covers even over the one night's stay.
I wondered before why they never got DC or AP numbers for room ressies. I have rec'd DC and AP room discounts nad have never had to show any proof at check in. Only makes sense they would have done this. Surprised they are just now doing it.
For the trip we will be on in a few weeks, I was not able to get an AP discount. I did get a very good discount ($104 including tax at a moderate).
Had I not been able to, I would have kept calling in hopes of getting one sooner or later.
