Dec 28, '04 - ONE WEEK from today we'll be "fill in the blank"

Anyone else in frantic exercise-mode as we get closer? What were we thinking putting bathing suits on the week after Christmas?

Eeeeeeegads!!!

I am thinking the bathing suit thing may be so bad that I might not want to introduce myself to any of you. I definately not in the shape I was in on the last cruise and have no time to crash exercise right now.

I am happy to announce that I have lost a total of 27 pounds since the beginning of September, and still losing!

But the bad news is that I was scared straight when the doctor told me I have type II diabetes. I shoudln't be surprised. My Dad has been insulin dependent for almost 20 years, as was his mother. I am just surprised I got it so young. I'm only 29. And I have a LOT more to lose. And I haven't had children yet.

Well anyway, I guess we're not supposed to put personal stuff on here.

Now about that swimsuit issue ladies.... I have a little secret. I know where you can get bathing suits made to your taste, but it'll cost you around $125 a suit. It's called Pango Pango Swimwear. The url is www.pango-pangoswimwear.com. They did a terrific job on the two I bought 5 years ago. And for those of us that are plus-sized but not well-endowed (yes, there are a few;) ), they have push-up! And skirted! My personal favorite. And they are great quality. The customer service team is very helpful and friendly.

myfourkitties: GOOOO you!

What a great concept! I order mine from Landsend because they sell "long torso" and although I'm only 5'7" which isn't incredibly tall, I have a very long rise (short waist) and getting things to fit without venturing into "creeping zone" is hard. And after reading the Palo thread regarding "picking one's suit out of the nether regions" while walking outside of folks eating in Palo makes me sure I don't want to be doing any picking! LOL

LOL!!!

You and I must have been reading the posts tonight at the same time! I saw that and was trying to remember if we had ever sat near the window. We did for sure one time during high tea, but I was too green (seasick) to look out the window!

:p

Just got our confirmation for Capatin Marvin for 10am for the three hour tour. My family thinks the "three hour tour" thing is reslly funny. they are humming the Gilligan's Island Songn around the house. What can i say we are easily amused.

I'd like to get my REAS info. I am waiting on Sue Ellen. Has anyone else heard from her?

Has any one received their docs? What we experienced from our past DCL cruises is that you can start getting them anytime. We have received them 6 weeks to 2 weeks out. We do have our airline times and that is through Disney so I know DCL is working on getting people to our cruise.

No excursions booked yet. I need to bring this up with my husband. Our daughter expressed interests in going to Tulum in March. This is good, she doesn't have a clue we are going in Dec. She also wanted to swim with the stingrays but since we didn't know 100% if we were going to Grand Cayman I was afraid to prebook.
Are we going to Grand Cayman?

We are not doing the REAS package. My only reservation I need to make is getting our daughter's hair braided. I think I will also pass on the Spa this time around. I am looking forward to some extended beach time. We just had our first hard freeze last night, late in the year for here, and I am so cold!!! I just bought the cutest Hallmark ornament to get me in the spirit--Santa is under a palm tree in a red Hawaiian shirt and grass skirt, sunglasses, swaying to the sound of Jingle Bells Hawaiian style. Warm, sunny, climate only a few weeks away!

Kathy

Thank you, Masonpips, for the suggestion of Captain Marvins. In looking at their website and showing our daughter, this is right up our alley. I sent in the request for the 10 am excursion (the 1 pm would be tight for time in getting back on ship, I think). Now to wait and see if they have room left...

Again, my thanks for taking the time to tell us of your past experiences.

No problem; it was really nice that we "knew" some folks last time!

I still haven't seen teh 12/18 folks get docs yet. If they would, ours will be NEXT!!!!

Just received the confirmation email from Captain Marvin's for the 10 am trip. The three of us are really getting excited now.

I, too, have been checking in on the Dec 18th group to see if their docs have been received yet. It almost seems wrong to read their threads ... As soon as they get theirs, I am going to call our Travel Agent and re-introduce ourselves!!

Glad to hear Grand Cayman is back on the agenda for sure. My family is really excited about the Captain Marvin's tour. It looks like us, Masonpips and Jestyx3 are all signed up for 10 am. Anyone else want to join us?

I can't believe Thanksgiving is next week! That means this cruise is almost here. Now I need to figure out how I will pack without my 12 yr. old knowing about it. She has no school from the 22nd on and I really don't want the clothes sitting in the suitcases that long. I might pack her summer things before school gets out and then do a rush pack Christmas day. Maybe on the 24th I could send her over to Grandma's for a few hours so I can pack. Panic is setting in, I can feel it. Kathy

I think there is just general panic in the air. I can feel it too.

Did anyone else get there REAS info. I was pretty disapointed with the SPA times available before 9am or after 4pm. How did you do?

I feel the panic too and it's not a pleasant thing. When I think "5 weeks from now we'll be prepping for Christmas Eve/Day" I'm ok. When I tack on "we'll be leaving for the cruise" I slightly freak out and then I think how next week is worthless (we're traveling south to my parents) for prepping and by the time we get back home and settled it'll be 4 weeks AND we still have all the Christmas stuff to do. ARGH! I am very excited tho!

We had called Debbie to book REAS about a month ago and got the spa for 1/1/05 (Cozumel) for about 1:00. We weren't planning on doing anything so this worked out ok for us. I will be calling her Friday to confirm our times/rotation, etc.

I think I have the market cornered on panic. This year we decided to host Thanksgiving (just eight of us), but I have the added pleasure of trying to put the house back together because....wait for it...WE JUST MOVED! And we are trying to get the other house ready to put on the market. My garage is full of boxes of junk. The other house still has lots of stuff in it. And I am doing laundry like there's no tomorrow.

And not that this is a bad thing, mind you, but I've lost so much weight and still losing, I don't know if I'll have much summery-type clothes! I HAVE been putting stuff to the side as it is laundered, though. And I was a smart cookie and long ago put all travel items in boxes. So those boxes were kept together during the moving frenzy.

Oooh, I'm getting light-headed. I think I need to go lay down....

I haven't had time to panic yet because I have been so busy. But panic will set in soon because I have nothing done. We are in the middle of a major renovation at our house and not only is the cruise a surprise for the kids but we have told no one else either--I'm sure because they will think we are nuts for going but oh well!! I haven't heard from Sue Ellen about my REAS times. I will email her today. I hope they are okay because they are based on times when Flounder's is open.

Okay you guys win in the panic market. All I am doing is trying to find summer clothes in Minnesota in the winter... which now feels like a walk in the park next to new houses, kid surprises and Thanksgiving plans. We are going out of town but to my parents home so all I have to do is throw some stuff in a suitcase, deliver the beloved grandchildren to the grandparents and I am done for the holiday.
