Dec 27/08 NYE Western Cruise - Really New Thread

We have Thanksgiving here for only 10 people. We also have Christmas here.

Going out to try to start Christmas shopping.

I have absolutely no clue what to get Jimmy (19).

I'll probably come home with nothing!

Hope everyone has a great day!

I'm meeting Kelly after school to see Twilight.

Well Kara is getting new pair of crocs and mp3 player - wonder why - geesh louise

Mom said she doesn't need a thing - and that is true

Nan, I'm not understanding what you're concerned about. Are you worried about getting her to the drill after the Meet?

::yes:: more below

Nan, I would offer to take Paul's place and go as your Nanny

but a relative already going to FL with you might be a better choice (ahem*Lee*)

Nan is away for the weekend Aisling,

I don't know if she's gonna make it on here today :(

She is really concerned about the extra work having Mom with her is gonna cause. I was also thinking about the 3pm gathering we had at the Promenade and remember it being very short with a lot of no shows because it was so close to drill time. Maybe she'd be better inclined to join you if you made it for a different time~Maybe do your gathering during or just before sail away???

Lee and family are staying at AKL for sometime and that is already paid and besides I :lovestruc my hubby much more than my sister when we travel with mom....(read between the lines)

We needed more time for pur 2005 Meet because we were doing gift-giving, so we needed that extra time. If the drill is 4:30 and the Meet is at 3, I think that's plenty of time just to "meet". We definitely won't need an hour and a half.

If I'm mistaken and the drill is at 4 instead of 4:30, I can see how that would be a concern about rushing.

Nan mentioned "should roll her out there early". Does she mean mom's in a wheelchair? Just an expression?

::yes:: my mom will be in her wheelchair for most of the walking on the ship. She has a heart condition that makes her out of breathe and light headed with just a short walk and she is way slow and very wobbly, she can walk if required but never in an emergency with so many people pushing their way around. The LB drill is very crowded and hectic. I know right where we go, since we did it for WB PC, so I'm thinking that we will party in the Prom and then head for our muster stations (2 or 3 of us 5) and the other ones can just get us our jackets from the room and meet us there upon the drill. Now I need to decide should I send Paul with her or should I stay. The other thing is that she asks questions over and over again in a short amount of time, so the person standing with her will have to answer the same thing about 5 or 6 times about what is going on, which gets draining after a long day. It will work out, I just have to make a plan in advance. She has a adult attitude in a kid brain. Always has to be right and know what's going on, but is clueless...dementia gotta love it. :rolleyes1

I have your DL stuff all pkgd to send you...sitting on my desk at work ...such a loser sometimes....SO SO SORRY

I figured you were a little busy lately, no worries~I really believe "it's the thought that counts."

I'm attempting my first homemade cheesecake today. Sofar, so good...our turkey day guests will be my guinea pigs ;) I also have a potato casserole type recipe to make before thursday. Once it's done it only needs a warm up in the oven to finish. John is making turkey and homemade stuffing. Rose, her hubby and son are coming over. She's in charge of cole slaw. My mom and john's mom will be here for dinner too. My MIL was asked to make some kind of veggie plate. With my kids and John and me, I think that's 10 for us to feed.

Nan, I know you really want Paul to go...

I'm sending extra PD to help you get your wish~

Nan, it'll work out fine. Mom can relax in the lounge with us until the drill. Someone will bring yours and mom's life jackets while you take her to the drill station. Afterwards, someone brings mom's jacket back while you go get your sail a way spot with mom.
Remember, we'll be there, too, and you can count on me and my family to help. I am totally looking forward to meeting your mom; I have a feeling she's going to crack me up many times during this trip. Maybe she won't remember my name, but she and I will still have a good time together, I guarantee it.:thumbsup2

Yup, I just wish he would have his boss in town for a day or so so that he can ask her about the time off...

Just remember to offer her a drink whenever she runs low :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'm grateful to sail with those who are prewarned of who we are. It just makes it easier not to have to explain it all in real time. We'll drink and laugh and laugh and drink. All will be fine I'm sure :woohoo: :rolleyes1 :dance3:

No worries on Mom Nan....Aisling & I will help entertain her...esp when you & Paul want some of that time you mentioned....

One month from today right now, me, Jesse, and Cory will be at the Wilderness Lodge! Chad and Louise will be at Louise's house for Christmas morning, and then will join us the next day. It's almost here, folks!

Hi!

Sorry I'm been so long in responding. It's been a little crazy.

Our favorite Disney characters are:

Dan- Peter Pan
Eileen-- Winnie the Pooh
Sarah-- Wall-E or Minnie
Katie- Tinkerbell

Eileen

I am afraid that Aisling is preparing some sort of psychological evaluation on us based on our favorite disney characters.

What did I pick again? Oh ya, I think it was Tinkerbell and Cinderella. ;)

This year we have decided on Magic Kingdom for Christmas Day, previous years we did other parks. We will be there for 7:00am rope drop to beat the crowds, and leave around lunch time to go back to the resort for a swim. We have an ADR for the Yachtsman Steakhouse for dinner, then probally to Epcot for Illuminations.

Not that I've given it much thought. :rolleyes1

I usually have everything almost down to the minute by now, but this time I just can't decide. I want to do all 4 parks in two days. I want to see Wishes, Spectro and the ice castle, and also the Christmas parade at 3. I just don't want to spend the whole day in any park(s) without a hotel break, but if we leave the MK after the 3 pm parade, we may not be able to get back in for the night-time things.

Thursday Dec. 25th:

8:30 AM: arrive at MCO
10:30 AM: checked into WL concierge and eat late breakfast in the lounge

Friday Dec. 26th:

5:30 PM Epcot dinner at San Angel Inn
8:30 PM Epcot Candlelight Processional

That's all I have!!! I am a member of Tourguidemike, but I haven't checked his advice in a while. I'll be looking it over tonight to see his best days chart.

This will be our fourth Christmas at WDW, we have never had any problems park hopping. Capacity closings generally happen in the afternoon, you should not have a problem getting in after dinner.

Where are you eating on the 25th?

I'm off to my church council meeting, they sucked me in as treasurer 3 years ago. I think it may be a life sentence.

Later dudes.
