Dec 27/08 NYE Western Cruise - Really New Thread

:cool1: :cool1:
Just had to share my good news!

I have been checking hotwire every so often to try and get the MCO Hyatt for Christmas night. Lo and behold I just checked and they had a 4star with 4.5 trip advisor ratings. I took a chance and got the Hyatt with taxes and fees for $82.00!!

I love all the things I have learned from these boards. I can finally cross that off my list of things I still have to do. All of a sudden this cruise is coming up really fast.

Ami

That's an amazing deal -- congrats! Where will you be the night of the 26th?

We went to see Twilight last night, it was good. There sure as heck were a lot of teenage girls in the theater, I felt kinda out of place.

Now I have to avoid the subject for a couple of days, because I think Claudia might make me read the books. I can handle that, it's the 10 page book report I have to do afterwards that really sucks. Sometimes it sucks to be married to a teacher. Good thing it's only grade 2, I can handle the curriculum. :teacher:

I thought you were going to say she wanted you to start wearing plastic fangs.

Wow, Ami, luck was sure with you. Congratulations!

Anyone else feel in a panic - just got the kids pics done for Xmas and now I feel like I have more on my plate. I have at least two boxes to ship overseas and that should have been done weeks ago but I am still waiting on a couple of items to come in. The good news is while we were waiting on the kids pics to be printed we picked up the kids dress shoes for both semi-formal and formal night. I also bought Sean a long tie tuxedor last night on ebay - brand news it was 35.00 with shipping so not bad. I figure I can switch out his and Shannon's black ties for red ties on semi-formal (Sydney is wearing a red dress that night and I black).

So I am trying to think of what we should pack in terms of shoes for the casual nights at dinner. For the ladies - does anyone think dressy sandals would be adequate in terms of cold/warm? I know the last time we went I wore those at dinner and was fine but that was at the beginning of September- not quite winter.

Did someone say WebSphere - I think that of all the things to be a computer geek about WebSphere is "obscure" in terms of at least two of you having experience with it. Funny thing - I have worked with WebSphere for 8+ years now and I design the infrastructure at my company around it, etc. What I find funny is that 3 of us have experience with it - small world.

Kara's home from the meet - with just terrific news

both her mp3 player and her disney crocs were stolen at the meet

I am ticked

Oh man I am sorry. There is nothing that gets my blood boiling more than thiefs. Just tell yourself Karma will get whomever did so - sweet sweet Karma.

You would think parents were wonder where stuff came from when their teenager (13 and older) were swimming the session this morning gets home

though Kara did say - her player was going to need re charging soon - and she really hopes that person likes dinosaurs - since she had a huge raptor sticker on the back of it

That's why I'm into Porn, the books are real easy to read.:rotfl2:

Sweet deal, congrats. Got to love a deal! That was for the 25th right? Where are you staying the night before the cruise?

Edited to Add: Whoops Julie already asked that.

I have read the books and saw the movie on Friday . . . the movie was good but the books were so much better! So if you can avoid the book report issue, give the books a try:thumbsup2

I probably will read them, Claudia liked the books a lot.

I thought you were going to say she wanted you to start wearing plastic fangs.

I'm still trying to get into that cheerleader uniform you recommended we get about 50 pages back..........umm I am the one supposed to wear that right?

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say porn, I meant "Bourne", as in Jason Bourne of the Bourne Identity. Sorry for any confusion.:confused3

Oh ya, I love that too. There's a new movie opening next year, "Jason Does Munich"

Heh -yeah, it's actually pretty amazing. I've been doing Commerce off and on since 3.1 (Net.Data! - that makes 8 years for me too). I made a comment early on when Anjelica joined the thread and I saw your tag, but I guess you missed it. If either of you know any good Commerce developers, we're hiring!

THREE geeks!

Grim, Anjelica, and Jeff with their webspherespeak!!!!!!!!!!:upsidedow

If you have photoshop it's pretty easy to do, more tedious than difficult~

In short, I start with two layers of the same photo. One in black and white and one in color. Working with the B&W on top I delete the area of the black and white layer where I want the color copy to come thru~

I can email more specifics if you like, just say the word.
please do whenever you have extra time...NO hurry...sure i have no time to play anyway

This is why you should always check your kid's homework.

Apparently this kid's mom works at Home Depot in the seasonal dept. selling shovels.

OMG....that was hilarious!!!!

I guess that's my cue? ;)

The transfer file is on my desk as you speak...

Brenda, Anjelica, Aisling, Jusy and Kelly were on my list for either logos or buttons. I'll go get the logos and repost them here noe more time and maybe you guys could confirm for me one more time that you want them. This will also give you newcomers a chance to see what we've come up with and can also use or have transfers made for you and let me know.

Okay YES i still want the 4 large ones with the coin for back & small chest ones. I have your DL stuff all pkgd to send you...sitting on my desk at work ...such a loser sometimes....SO SO SORRY

Nan, I agree with Julie. NYE is still within the Twelve Days of Christmas!
And your mom can certainly wear the same outfit twice! It's sooooo much better than overloading with the packing.

Anjelica, wow girl, you're a fantastic organizer!
For my part, after I read your post, I called DCL and confirmed that we are linked for late dinner seating: Marla, Kara, Artie and family, Nan and family, Brenda and Ryan, Rus and Chel, Kelly and Brian, your family and my family, for a total of 25. I again requested Formal Night at Lumiere, but was again told it was noted but without guarantee.

And again confirming that there will be the 5 of us on the private Cayman charter (myself, Chad, Jesse, Louise, and Cory).

Also confirming that I'm in on the Photopass share.

I'll be working to finalize my FE gifts over the weekend, as I see we have some new participants.

Eileen, may I ask who your family's favorite Disney characters are? I'd like to know for a little project I'm working on for the cruise.

Has anyone else besides me and Nan received their Disney's Magical Express tags and info yet?

As for having an official meet upon boarding, if we can do it before sail-a-way, I'll be able to be there. I have a massage scheduled during the actual sailaway time. If 3 PM sounds good, maybe we can meet in the Promenade Lounge at that time, before the life-boat drill, just to say hello. Our staterooms are listed on Anjelica's website, so if we want to invite others to meet up for clubbing, Bingo, coffee, whatever, we can leave notes for each other on the Fish.

Any thoughts?
YES YES YES - let's meet at promenade lounge at 3 & make some plans...i want to spend as much time together as possible...

I do! Five small blue pirate Mickey one's would be poifect, please! I want to put them on the logo spot on plain white t-shirts, and have a cute group pic taken. Maybe we'll use it as our boarding attire!

Also, if there are no objections, I officially declare a NYE Cruise DIS Meet at 3 pm in the Promenade Lounge. Be there or be square!

Ask Dede. Being from Chicago she should be an expert! What were you doing in Cleveland? New vacation spot?:rotfl:

Kara's home from the meet - with just terrific news

I am ticked

Friday night was St Francis' 1st ever in the CCS ftball playoffs. ..unfortunately they lost that night, whidh ended FB for Ryan & the other seniors. It was really an emotional night...very sad but we;re SO PROUD of our Sharks!!!!

did get my Xmas cards & letters done this wkend..just need to print the letters...if you want a xmas card pm me your addressn & i think i'm pretty much done Xmas shopping... Did almost ALL of it...maybe ALL of it online...oh i guess i still need to get some frames for Ry's sr. photos...

i haven't even begun to shop at all for the cruise....not really sure what i need...but i won't even start until next month...need TG to be over & the Xmas gifts to arrive & get wrapped then i can concentrate on shopping/packing. i'm guessing 12/6 i'll shop & 12/07 i'll pack what i can....

I'm going with dressy sandals for dinner . . . it can't be colder than they already air condition the dining rooms and theaters in the summer, and I could stand sandals then!:goodvibes

Good morning everyone,

Everyone getting ready for Thanksgiving? Brenda, with 18 people, I'd say having a new dishwasher is a smart idea! Imagine hand washing all those dishes!:scared1:

We're going to my brother's house for Thanksgiving (Cory's dad). We always go there for Thanksgiving, and they come here for Christmas Eve.

Nothing new to report, just counting down the days until cruise time!

For Thanksgiving, it will just be Kara, my mom and myself - we are going out to eat and probably some shopping between Wed and Sun
