ILMICKEY I always thought sports in Red Lion was political, it's about where you live and who you know, but I am now seeing it is like that every where. I think coaches forget that this is about all the kids, not just the preppy ones. I went through that when Jim played football, he only played maybe 4 minutes the whole season. Jim didn't care so I didn't care.
Reese eats breathes and sleeps cheerleading, she is in it for the sport not the popularity, she doesn't announce tothe world she is a cheerleader, last year nobody at her school knew she cheered until she wore her uniform on game day. This coach has a daughter on the 9th grade squad, I am hoping that next year when her daughter moves up to JV the coach will move up with her and Reese will have a break from her.
She can't kick Reese off the squad for no reason, and when she lays into Reese, Reese just apologizes and moves on, she has never let the coach know that it bothers her, and last night was the first time Reese cried over it, she waited till she got in the car, so for 2 hours she held back tears. I wonder if this lady even realizes that she is doing this. I talked to a few other moms about it this morning, a couple of them said they noticed Reese is the only one ever yelled at.
I tell Reese maybe she is jealous of you, maybe she wishes her daughter were like you, sounds harsh but there are parents out there who are like that.
I am afraid that if I do say something she won't make it for basketball cheerleading this year, and now I wonder about last year, she didn't make it on the basketball squad then, this is a girl who has cheered competitively for years, and has lots of 1st place trophies for competing individual Jr. prep, she won best cheerleader out of 100 girls, I was in shock for days when she didn't make it, so were the rest of the cheerleaders who had cheered with Reese during football. On a side note, it was maybe a blessing in disguise because Reese ended up with that knee injury from her competition squad and wouldn't have been able to cheer the season anyway.
Oh well, I have talked your eyes off enough about this. (get it? cause your reading I said eyes and not ears, hahaha, I kill myself)
