Dec. 2, 2007-4 night Wonder and MouseFest Cruise

I enjoy dinner at Palo but I was very impressed with the brunch. Yes, it is on the sea day so hopefully you'll get your ressie for it!

Only a tiny bit to pay off for us. We can't make Palo ressies till 75 days out, so just hoping. Only want the brunch and I think they only do that on the sea day, so I think it may book up quickly.

I'm with you. We wanted to do the Brunch as well! Should be interesting to see if I will be able to get something.

Kim, I read on here that they save some of the reservations until embarkation day as not everyone has the internet, so if we don't manage to snag one online, we can rush to the desk to see if we can then.

I sure hope I will be able to get it before then. I'm one of those people that will stress about it if I have to wait to nail it down then. Oh well I guess I will worry about that when it happens. The good news.... ONLY four months until we cruise!! I'm sooooo EXCITED!

They have changed the time you can go online to make reservations to 12mn Eastern, which means I will have to get up for 5am!!!:lmao: I am not booking anything more for this trip - in fact I have only just decided to book the brunch. I thought we could just enjoy everything the ship has to offer this time. But, I also want to experience Palo's.:)

Ya, we are really not planning too much ourselves. I know I don't want to make any plans for the Bahamas, I will get off the boat and check out Atlantis but I am not commiting to anything. On the ship the 2 scheduled things I want to do is Palo for Brunch and maybe some spa treatments.

I guess I should probably figure out when the 75 day mark is. Being online at Midnight may be a bit of a problem for me, considering I get up for work at 5 AM. I will do what I have to do though:thumbsup2 Hopefully it will be a Monday, Tuesday, or Saturday night. I only work four days.

I was planning on us just walking around the immediate port area, but as part of Mousefest, there is an organised walk showing some of the historical areas - just a couple of hours I think and back on the ship for lunch. We might just go on that as I hear varying reports of the Straw Market etc, but don't want to not get a taste of the island.

Good evening, everyone.

Granmaz, I have been looking all over for those maps on www.dcltribute.com , but the website is no longer working.

He had a great map and pictures of directions from WDW to the Wonder.

I'm sorry.

I guess that I should have looked before I posted.

I only go to WDW every December and his site was up last year.

I am only signing up for the Palo Brunch at Palo and the parasailing on Castaway Cay Island.

You guys probably already know about www.Castawayclub.com website.

I has a lot of great info, too.

And I am really behind the times.

You are also right about no tape of any kind on the stateroom doors.

I don't think that you should have any trouble eventually making reservations for the Palo Brunch.

I remember the year before that I was so disappointed that there were no more spaces on line for the parasailing and no more spaces for the Palo dinner.

But about one month before departure, a whole bunch of space showed up online on the Disney site for both the parasailing and palo.

That same year there were hardly any one that had signed up for the 9:00 A.M. parasailing.

I guess that people thought that all the spaces were full.

They weren't.

When we boarded the Wonder, we talked two other people to join us when we saw the empty spaces on the Wonder's Castmembers computer screen.

She had names listed for each time space.

And I said that there are only 12 people signed up all day???

Then I told her about my experence of trying to register online with no luck.

The Castmember said that more people will sign up as they come on.

So I hope that we all get reservations for the Palo Brunch and whatever else everyone wants.

I haven't been on Dave Marx's Nassau walk since I have a hard time walking long distances.

But he usually has a pretty good group and he wrote the book on the Nassau walk.

I have heard that when someone saw something that interested them more, they left the walk meet to do what ever they saw more interesting.

But if you wanted to get a test of Nassau, I think that Dave's Nassau walk would be perfect for you and you would be back for lunch.

If you ever get a chance to get to Atlanta,Georgia, you need to see our fairly new aquarium. It is huge and amazing.

If anyone is able to get on www.dcltriute.com website, will you please let me know?

Thanks in advance.

Ray

Ray,
I guess I didn't look close enough at your information to realize that you were from Atlanta. Marc and I actually have a 2nd job out of the Atlanta area; we read court reporter steno (and listen to audio) of court proceedings and correct transcriptions of a reporter in the Gwinnett County Superior Court up in Lawrenceville.

We've heard LOTS of good stuff about your new aquarium. Wishing we were closer so we could visit!

I hope you get the reservation for brunch. We were actually sitting behind Tom and Anne Marie on our last cruise. I'm sure they'll be polite and NOT tell you how many trips we made to the various stations!!!!!

Welcome Virginia, Eric, Danie and Emmy. Looking forward to meeting you all.:) Have you signed up for the Mousefest cruise on the Mousefest site yet?

Ray,

When browsing these boards, I think that the dcltribute site is being taken over by Shirley of Perfect Gift. I saw a post some time ago where she had met up with Dave(I think that is his name) and he is too busy now with a job truck driving, I think, to keep it up to date. Don't know the time scale of getting the site up again though.

Thanks for the encouragement about getting Palo brunch reservations.

Fred, your photos look great. I sure wish that I could have been there with you and everyone. Maybe some weekend.

Michael, Atlanta is your town too, if you work in Gwinnet County. You'll love the aquarium.

Granmaz, thank you. That would be great if she could take over that the www.dcltribute.com website.

When she puts up the directions part, you will see a big map with these rectangle markings around several areas of the map.

These rectangles have separate larger maps which really helped me to find my way the first time.

Especially when I almost went North instead of South on the main highway from Orlando to the Port.

And the larger map of the approach to the port was very helpful for me to make out the different exits to the port.

I usually arrive early and I am usually one of the first ones in the Port parking lot which is right across the road from the entrance to the Wonder.

As I leave the parking lot and cross the road, I can usually see the Disney buses to my right.

This is where I am usually stopped until they check our ID's with security. This isn't the main security check.

Then I walk another 40 feet crossing another interior road that visitors use to drop off guests and luggage before parking their car.

Since I am so early, this road isn't open when I arrive, so I walk my luggage accross this small private road and hand a left down the side walkwalk to check my main luggage.

Usually the cars are here, too.

Someone usually comes up to me and takes my luggage.

Then I take my carryon luggage back up the side walk and hang a left at the building.

I remember the first time, I walked across the private road and went straight ahead to enter the glass doors to the entrance of the Wonder Port.

I didn't know that I had to leave my main luggage a the other place, so I just backed up 10 feet and went down that sidewalk to drop off my main luggage.

If I was on the Disney bus, I guess that they take the main luggage off of the bus automatically and you don't have to worry about it. You just walk straight into the Wonder Port main entrance.

But if I were driving with a large family, I might drive my car past the parking lot entrance, and past the Disney buses, and enter on the left to that private internal road.

There is a security guard there to check your ticket.

But sometimes they don't open until after the parking lot opens.

If I had a family, I would drive my car this route, drop off my family and luggage and then go park my car. But that is just me.

Once I got to enter the main front doors of the Wonder Port building, I notice that the entrance is all glass.

After entering the first doors, I immeidiately see a second set of glass doors, but this is for exiting only and has a security guard here too.

I know because the first time on a cruise, the nice security guard just told me to follow the arched walkway around to my right and enter one of the doors on my left in about 20 feet.

Here is where we met security again and put all of our carryons through the xray machines.

May I say that ziplock bags are my friend.

If I needed to take thanks out of my carryon, it was easier if everything was put in ziplock bags. But that is just me.

Everything was very easy.

Then you simple made your way up the escalators or use the elevator on your left to go up to the main lobby.

There are several nice Disney Castmembers waiting to help you with any questions and sign any forms before checking in.

Then you head to the counters against the left wall to check in, receive your number to be called to board the ship.

In the middle of the lobby is a great cut away view of the ship.

And don't forget to go to your far right later to see all the Mousefest folk before boarding.

And the restrooms are too your right after you come off of the elevators.

This is for 1st timers if you didn't already know.

And you can sign up for a lot of stuff on the Disney Cruise website before you go, too.

I can't wait.
