Dec 08 Waitlist thread

I am waitlisted for anything except AKV (we are there for the first week of vacation-just wanted a change) for Dec 21-26 2bdr.

I am waitlisted for any studio anwhere december 21-24. I got on the list about 4 weeks ago.

What I don't like is that when i call the other day, i was told that VWL was available for the thrid night but that if I booked that, I would have to get back on the waitlist for the first two nights and cancel my original waitlist for 3 nights. That would put me at the bottom of the queue for the other two nights and it increases the likelihood that we will be staying at two different resorts.

That made me decide to just keep the original 3 night waitlist.

I was able to get a 2bdr for Dec23-26 at SSR (we were in a 1Bdr SSR) so I changed my waitlist to just the 21-23 at SSR 2bdr. We are still waitlisted for the other resorts sans AKV for 21-26 but I'm not holding out any hope this will come thru.
I'll have to put my parents up somewhere else for the 21-23 and then they can join us in the 2bdr.

So we cancelled 23-26 1Bdr. SSR, hope it helps someone.

Waitlisted for AKV studio for 12/12 - this will be the first night of our vaca. and my son and I are flying down that one day early. He really wants to stay there, so I hope it comes through! If not, we've got a studio at OKW, so we'll still be okay.

Found out today that our waitlist came through for a studio at SSR from Dec 28-30! It actually went through on August 3rd, but noone ever notified us. I was bouncing off the walls when I saw our dates approved on the DVC member website yesterday!

Oh, and we were only on the waitlist since July 24th.

I guess that shows they are not saving rooms to see if an entire waitlist comes through. I have been waitlisted for a studio at SSR for Dec. 26 - 1 & another for Dec. 28 - 1 since a day or two after they started the new "wonderful" policy.

We were supposed to be going in July but my son ended up having to have shoulder surgery so we had to postpone our trip.

I'm glad you got your room but I don't think that is how DVC should be doing it. I knew it would be a long shot to get the rooms but think I pretty well out to just give up.

With the passholder rates available I was able to secure YC 7-11th and I already had a WL 11-14th(SO I do have back up rooms that will be costing me almost 2K)....BUT something is up with BW/BWI...I could not get any rooms there. Did I just make it up in my head or did anyone else hear that they are holding rooms at BWV? 2/3 of my days I just missed the rooms...member service told me the day before that there was availbility(but despite calling at opening-I missed it)...so I know I was very-very-very early on the waitlist. BWV is the only one that has had almost no movement. Bring on the pixie dust.

I must have missed something. What construction delay at AKV? Since Kidani is the only thing under construction and is not opening until May 1, 2009, what delay could there be?

Like I said Ed...I thought I read something some where...or imagined it ...not 100% sure. Or maybe I read they were holding back rooms at BWV for another reason.

I think I am getting so stressed out because I am under my 7 month window for my March trip but I have to hold 08/09 points for Dec...and if Dec doesn't come through...then I will have lost points. I am going to have to call MS and see what I can do. Maybe use 08 points for March, and hold some 09 points for Dec and borrow from 2010 for balance for March.

That's what MS was saying origionally...but I think there is more to it. I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that only 1 person has gotten a BWV waitlist. I hope that the 45 day mark will bring some movement...I do not remember last year being this bad. In 06 I was able to switch from SSR to BWV and VWL...with a month or 2 wait.

I know there were a lot of developer points out ther too...who knows. I am just hoping they clear some more rooms a AKL and create some movement!!!

I have never seen it like this I'm thinking the change in policy is not to the waitlist advantage especially since we were on the list during the change

We are waitlisted at: AKV (concierge) Dec. 6-14th (yeah right, I know) and BC, same date, studio.

Here's hoping for some pixi dust. We've been waitlisted since May...

Yep, I am too. I called on Saturday to see if there was availability at the beginning or end of my waitlist. The CM that I spoke to was very helpful. Basically, there was only 1 day available in the middle which didn't help me since he would have to cancel and re-book my SSR fall back reservation and there was no way I was going to let that happen. He also checked all other resorts and none of them had the days (4-9) open. At most, they may have had 1 or 2 nights in the middle.

We are waitlisted at VWL for December 13 thru the 19th. Know the chances are pretty small, but you never know.........

We're waitlisted for Dec 18-25 for a 2br or studio anywhere except SSR and I am pessimistic about it coming through because we had to waitlist for the entire stay rather than be allowed to do it day by day. I think that change is going to make it a lot harder for waitlists to come through, because they are going to hold inventory for you if part of your dates become available. It will go back into the system and someone will call in and snap them up.

We currently have a 1br at BCV for us and a studio at SSR for my mom, so at least we are covered, but I would love to be at the same place.
