Dec 08 Waitlist thread

How are the parks expected to be? Attendence drops pretty significantly after Thansgiving, right?

The Sunday after Thanksgiving has a big drop. It stays that way until around the 19th.

I thought it was under "my vacation details"? It doesn't actually show the waitlists, does it? Just your confirmed reservations? :confused3

I meant go to "my vacation points" first then click on "my vacation details." Waitlists do not show up there.

Bummer, I was hoping you found something really cool!! :goodvibes

It'd be neat if we could see what our waitlists were and what our position was in line. But I guess if they did that, someone, somehow, would end up trying to abuse the system. :(

Hi everyone I got back this evening and I have updated the first post. Congratulations on your waitlist success Tinkaroo and KandiB47!

Hey Donald! How was your trip? Any pics to share?

The trip was great! Yes, I did take a bunch of pictures but I probably won't have a chance to download them until this weekend.

I was definitely spoiled because I stayed at an AKV Conceirge level savannah.

Thanks! I should have also mentioned I switched resorts at the 7 month mark. December 12-18th I switched from a studio at SSR to a 1 bedroom at BCV.

Anyone have any luck picking up a room at the BCV for Dec 30-31 (one bedroom). I am still on the waitlist and was just wondering.

I keep thinking I could get a few points transferred....like 9 and have all my ressies switched to the yacht club for the $95.00 fee. It is better than being out almost a $1000 if I have to pay cash for those two nights.

I would really miss my one bedroom though. I am getting a little antsy about this!:santa:

Hey Donald,

I think we have gotten everything straighten out with waitlists and were we are staying.

12/7-10 we are at 1 BR at SSR however we are waitlisted at the following:

SV studio AKV, SV dedicated studio AKV, CL studio at AKV, studio at BWV, and studio at SSR.

I really hope we get either options at AKV. My question for you all is this is how going to be every year in December. The reason I ask is because we have been waitlist for all the AKVs since Feb. 1st. Is it better to go prior to Thanksgiving???

So we have finalized our dec trip. We are booked into SSR from Nov 30 to Dec 12. I have reserved Dec 4, 5 & 7 on cash but I am still waitlisted for those nights. The good news to one of you is that this enabled me to cancel my 2BR AKV from Nov 30 to Dec 6 value view. Hopefully the ripple effect will help you! I am so excited. I love DVC!!:cheer2:

For those hoping for VWL ressies - I called MS this morning (7 months out) for Sunday, Dec. 21 and there were no Studios or 2 BR's available. I was able to get a 1 BR though. So we have a Studio (already booked at 11 months) and a 1 BR for Dec. 21. We then move into a 2 BR (also booked at 11 months) for Dec. 22-26.

I think this year is a little tougher than normal because we have a huge mass of developer points that are being used and are short inventory since Kidani isn't open yet. I believe they're already selling points in Kidani, so those are directly competing for less available space in a prime period.

Plus, AKV is new, so for the first year or two, other owners are going to want to check it out ... so the 11 month window will be more important here at the start ... imo, of course. ;)

If I can get my AKV or VWL, I'll be able to release my SSR nights. :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

It's too bad we can funnel our cancellations to other disboard members. :(

You can add us Dec 3-5 (checking out on the 5th) for a studio in the boardwalk view at BWV.

We have a dedicated 2-bedroom booked at SSR for Dec. 14-19, and I called on the 19th to be wait-listed for any 2-bedroom at BCV or BWV.

Good luck to everyone!

:wave2:

I have waitlisted my 12/7-12/12 at SSR as a wholefor BCV and BWV. I keep reading here and on other threads that it is definitely better to do day by day and keep my original ressie intact if I have the points to do it, which I do. The theory I am getting is that people may drop a day here or there, but will doubtfully cancel their whole week at once. What do you guys think? I am going  over stressing about this!

This will be our first trip "home." We are going with my cousin, her husband and their 3 kids, my mom and stepdad. It is my cousin and family's first time to WDW and I want it to be very memorable. To me BCV or BWV just seems so much better themed and better atmosphere for a first time experience than SSR. Although, I haven't stayed at SSR we did tour there and it had much less themeing and not the "Disney Magic" I get at other resorts. Now, I don't want to turn this into a debate on the magic of SSR versus not, but if we do end up there because the waitlist doesn't come thru do you think we will enjoy our stay as much as if we were somewhere else. (I just need someone to tell me it will be OK!:worried:)

It will be OK ;).

I brought my sister, her DH, and my dad to SSR in MAY of 2007, and we all loved it. We had a 2-bedroom, and we all loved the decor.

It had been 20 years since my dad's last trip and 7 years for my Dsis and her DH.

If we don't get our wait list, we will be happy to stay at SSR.

BTW, I wait-list for the whole trip, not day-by-day. I'd rather stay in one place the whole time than worry and stress about moving around or where I need to check-in next. To each his/her own :).

Thanks aesalsa for the reassurance.:)
If I were to waitlist day by day, I would leave my SSR ressie intact so that I have a week solid somewhere.
Then I would waitlist for BCV day by day using seperate points, if all days do not come through by the time we are 2 weeks away from leaving, then I would cancel any days that did come through. I know the points would go into holding, but we are going to DL in May/June 2009 and can use them then. Make sense?
