Debt Dumpers 2025

Correct. I was just going by the disconnect date. But that'll change now. Not sure I, nor anyone, can make 2 payments in a month. But going to change way of paying bills going forward.
I am sure you can find a way to make more than one payment in a month. I seriously doubt any company will turn down your money.

And you have now learned a valuable lesson about understanding your bills and what all the elements mean.

I changed my cell phone contract in July and it has been wrong every month since, I am being overcharged by about $18/month for a data add on that is not required as I have unlimited data now. Each month I use the live chat to ask for it to be credited and every month they say they will credit it (which they do) and make sure it doesn't happen again (but it does). I have now raised it with the second tier of the customer service process to see if they can help. But I am not holding my breath.

Definitely have learned a lesson. It's not that places won't take an extra payment. I'm sure they will. It's that most people can't afford to pay an extra payment every month. That's what I was trying to say.

Most people can’t afford to pay late fees every month either. Tally up all the money you have spent this year on paying your bills late. It’s expensive being poor.

Many posters here have given you tons of ideas on how to at least get financially stable, but it will require stepping out of your comfort zone for a while.

What is in your baseball cards account, or in DW’s hair and nail account? Can you use that to get current on your bills?

You won’t be paying an extra payment every month. You are one month behind. Catch up with two payments in ONE month and then you will be on the correct cycle. Then it will be one payment a month.
Because you are a cycle behind you are always paying late.

So between the 3 late fees a month plus the monthly disconnect notice.. you are paying $700 a year in fees to be late.

Yes, quick math shows it to be about $500/year. That's crazy, and I never realized it. But glad I did. I can work on fixing it. Many people have given great advice, and I'm using it as is evident. Cutting bills, cutting expenses, focusing on paying off.

I'm not a month behind. I'm like a few days to a week behind. I pay it before it disconnects. Or in the case of the bank loan, I'm paying 4 days late. Can't do anything about that on inasefawe

It doesn't matter if you are one day or 30 days late, you are one month behind in the lender's eyes. This is also tanking your credit. People here have given you great advice. Every day it is something new. It feels like trolling at this point.

Dang, I didn't mean for my late fees comment to be another reason to pile on to me. I was just giving advice to help dump debt. Isn't that what this post is about?

Because the payment is due on the 11th, and I don't get paid until the 15th. So I'm 4 days late every month. So basically paying $11 to be able to pay 4 days later. So $2.75/day to pay late.

In this case, you might want to call and see if they will change your payment date. It can't hurt to ask!

This isn’t a pile on you. Looks like you have a 3 pay month coming up in January as I believe you are paid every other week. Great time to start planning to get caught up.

The issue is you have a new issue every couple of days. Of which, you could have resolved months ago if you listened to the advice you are soliciting.

What is your holiday spending budget? It should be $0.

Again, you continue to ignore the question about whether you enjoyed your Disney trip. I can only guess that it is because you don’t want people to pile on you.

Correct. I have a 3 check month (knock on wood) coming up. We should have about $800 extra in December, so I plan on using that to pay an extra car payment, an extra payment on my bank loan and an extra payment on my internet. That will use up all $800, but it will get us caught back up. Then I plan on using the extra check in January to push my EF to where I want it to be.

As far as Christmas, DW and I don't get presents for each other. We just buy as we need throughout the year. We usually take a trip to Disney for the holidays. But I think we're going to eat a nice dinner somewhere or go stay at a nice hotel by the airport instead.

We just have to buy for my in-laws Christmas (DW wants to buy 3 gifts each for 4 people but we might be getting out of that as they're not getting along. We bought Christmas presents last year that we never exchanged, so we might can just give those if they amend the relations as they're still in the bag with tags on them). So not much. We take gift cards to my parents, and we play games. Then the winners get their choice of gift card. We're not blessed with big families. DW's dad is an only child, and I only have one sibling.

So you usually take a Disney trip, that you aren’t sure of you are taking this year, AND YOU JUST TOOK ONE and you might just stay at the airport to get away….i agree…you are trolling us…giving me lots of hilarity. You can’t afford another Disney trip or a hotel locally!! I’m out. I wish you the best in meeting your fake goals.

Happy early Thanksgiving day, debt dumpers.
I volunteered to cover my team for our company's wellness week (week between Christmas and New Years) so I'll be getting paid twice for those days (not double time, just 2x standard pay). That paired with my annual bonus should help put a nice dent into my cc debt.

I just moved over my CC debt to an existing card to get the zero interest until October 2026. Plan to go hard and get it cleared as soon as possible. I messed up and overextended myself during my move and that's on me.
Thankfully, one area I've improved on is eating out. Since moving in, I have bought food a handful of times. Still trying to find a rhythm for meal planning as I hate doing it.

There's no unsure about Disney. It would've been in November had we gone. We lost the money. Our last trip was to Chicago in July. And I've already told DW we're not going on a trip next year because we need to get these debts paid off. Was only trying to think of a cheap idea for a Christmas present since we didn't do Disney this time and since we don't exchange gifts. It doesn't have to be at the airport. It doesn't have to be at a hotel. I'm just brainstorming some ideas to treat DW to a nice Christmas present since I had to piss her off with saying no to Disney this month. But no problem with you being out. Peace.

When I was working I generally worked at places that were closed between Christmas & New Year but, this was back in the days of check payments between businesses rather than bank transfers, I would quite often be asked to go in to open the post and bank any checks that arrived to ensure the wages were paid. I used to get an extra day off to cover for the time it took (not a bad deal as it was normally only about 30 minutes) but money would have been much more useful at the time.

DH was on the alarm call out rota when he worked in a bank and that used to generate a nice bit of extra cash. If the alarm went off he had to go in to meet the police and turn it off. We lived about 5 minutes walk away and often the alarm would go off whilst there were still staff working - but the protocol was that a designated alarm call out person had to go in. That generated the equivalent of a day's pay I seem to recall. It was quite disappointing when they got a new alarm that didn't trip as often.

That's so aweome. I will be the only one on my floor that week most likely. Everyone else took vacation before I could get the calendar. But no worries. I'll just turn up the music and enjoy my days. No extra pay. Probably really slow week too.

You're assuming that everyone is dealing with late fees every month. The posters here are not (lurkers, maybe, I couldn't say). Most of the posters here have been trying to help you, some, over and over again. I have to say, it feels like they're hitting a brick wall. What you are describing as 'piling on' is yet another attempt to help you get out of the hole that you're drowning in.

You said you pay your power, internet and etc.(whatever else that is!) before it disconnects. I guarantee you're at least 2 months behind on the power. When I was closer to your financial state, I too used to put things off. (The crazy thing is that I had enough money to pay. ADHD, man!) When my gas eventually did disconnect, I was behind 3 months. I was behind on electricity as well and it never turned off - they kept extending the grace period and adding on fees. My point is that it shouldn't be normal to be on a payment schedule where you're making your (late) payments just on the verge of disconnection of services. The payment schedule you should aspire to where utilities are concerned is to be paid up IN FULL once you receive the bill, either in the mail or online. You should have enough in your account to pay the bill immediately or already have the amount accounted for out of your next paycheck, meaning BEFORE the due date comes. Do you pay your bills online or send checks? It's so much easier to keep tabs on all of your accounts online and set payments to be made on your next payday, if necessary.

Again, everyone here wants you to succeed. The problem is that we seem to be more worried about your financial situation most of the time than you are. I don't get a sense of true urgency from your posts and I think that is very frustrating to most of us here. Have you ever thought about being screened for depression? I know from years of personal experience that depression dulls the senses and feelings. Just a thought. You need some type of knock to the head (metaphorically speaking) out of your complacence before some painful consequences of your financial mess befall you.
