Debt Dumpers - 2016

Not really budget related, but man I have seriously been wanting a DW trip lately! I received one of the pin codes in e-mails for a room discount and free parkhoppers. It's sooooo tempting, but I know we shouldn't. Plus, I really don't want to go back until they have some of the new stuff open, even though I know that will be probably 2018ish. I'm just reminding myself that the next time we go back, we wanted to take our parents and how great that will be!

Sorry for the slightly-off topic, just had to share. In the meantime I am watching the Disney Parks youtube channel and looking at all the resorts to make myself feel better!
I cheer myself up in the same way - and I am going to WDW in 2 1/2 months!

When I get really stressed, I like to plan vacations. Most of them revolve around Florida, but I have planned vacations to other places as well. I spend time researching the areas, comparing different resorts/condos, pricing tickets, etc.. We rarely, if ever, go on any of these vacations. But it is my motivation to get out of debt. ONE DAY, I won't be planning vacations to relieve stress.. ONE DAY, I will be planning vacations that we will actually TAKE! :)

I paid off one bill last week and would have paid off another one but ended up going on a day trip to MK instead. DD called and said DGD needed a haircut so we had to take her down there for that.

Woohoo! We are down to one credit card, still have the cars, the trailer and the house but only down to the one low interest rate credit card. Hopefully by this summer the last credit card will be paid off but I have several mini trips (conventions and a small vacation) before then.

And I also plan vacations when I am stressed, sometimes we take them though. Like the next Disney trip, I planned it for fun but DH said to just book it.

I've been watching you tube videos of the resorts too. Gives me something to look forward to once I meet my debt dumping goals, which keeps me motivated. :)

I've never checked these YouTube videos out. I'll have to take a look!

I love doing this! I thought I was the only one. I don't know why, it's just really sort of relaxing to have it on in the background. I'll put on the resorts playlist or the Disney World playlist and let it run. They're really nicely done videos, which isn't surprising of course.

To all of you posting about paying off CC the last couple of days.....way to go!!

I'm also a Disney YouTube watcher. I have found a couple of channels where people record their vacations. It's nice to follow along on someone's adventures. Also, the resort videos are awesome too.

Things have slowed down here once again but the guy is coming the 12th to get that car. I'm trying to decide if I should take the money and pay a bunch of stuff off or just squirrel it away for a vacation.
I'm also still waiting on the CT tax refund, not sure what is taking so long.

I hadn't posted about our latest run in with Murphy recently, but I actually saw someone on another budget forum I visit post about the same issue, so I figured I'd do a little PSA...

There is apparently a doggie GI virus going around! I was home with our dog all day Monday, and in the middle of the night after that he woke us up twice to go out. Not like him at all. He was having diarrhea the next morning, but neither DH and I could take off work again to stay home with him. He was acting completely fine, just going to the bathroom, so we left and just hoped we didn't come home to a huge mess. Well... let's just say YIKES when we got home. Our 3 month old area rug was ruined, despite having not fed him that morning. He was still acting fine though. He was fine all day yesterday as well. Someone told me yesterday that there was a GI virus going around, but I didn't think that's what he had since he never goes anywhere/no walks or encounters with other dogs since we live on a farm and he just gets to run around with us. Well I mentioned it to DH last night and he reminded me that I insisted on taking the dog to Southern States this past Saturday as a little treat for him!! UGH!!! I'm sure that's what it was since they welcome all dogs, so he must have picked it up there!

Long story short: keep an eye on your dog! We didn't even encounter another dog at Southern States, but there's nowhere else he could have picked it up. So now we're tossing our rug and buying another one. Blergh. I tried my best to clean it, but there are some light colors on it and there's no way that's coming out no matter the amount of scrubbing I do!

So I talked to DH last night and he agrees that we will take money from tax refund to pay off care credit. even though it's 0% interest it would open up more money in our monthly budget plus if we need to use that card again in the future we can. so yay for that! I had 3 root canals done in the fall so they will now all be paid off.

This happened to me a month or so ago. I always go home on my lunch break since I live close enough and I let my dog out and eat at home. BIG surprise when I walked in and I spent my entire lunch break scrubbing the floor and hauling the area rug out to the dumpster (she'd mostly gone on the wood floor, but managed to get enough on the rug to make it not worth saving... plus it was older and a bit chewed on the corners from when she was a puppy so I was actually okay with pitching it)... anyway, I never did actually eat lunch. Kind of lost my appetite after that anyway! Hope your pup is feeling better and sorry to hear about the mess. There is a dog flu going around the country but I think in my dog's case it was something she had eaten.

Bonus for me was that Target had an area rug on clearance and the colors are actually better for my living room and hide the fur much better too. I'd have to vacuum every day (not happening) to avoid seeing fur with the last rug.

I saw the reports about dog flu, but thankfully he doesn't have any of those symptoms! He has such a sensitive stomach anyways, so even getting something mild can really throw him for a loop. He is still acting fine, but went out twice in the middle of the night again last night after I gave him a quarter of his regular amount of food with his probiotic. I feel bad, that's all the poor guy has eaten since Monday night! I don't know if I should try to give him a little bit of rice tonight or not. I don't mind getting up with him, but I hate for it to keep running through him like that.

My dog has a sensitive stomach as well and even more so when she was a puppy. The vet saved my sanity by giving me Tylan powder to give her whenever she started getting tummy troubles. It is a lifesaver! Also, I keep canned pumpkin on hand and make her rice with ground turkey and some of the pumpkin with about 1/4 tsp of the Tylan powder for a day or two. Works like a charm!

Try some canned pumpkin. That will "slow down" the food through their digestive track. Also firms up loose stools. Roughly about a tablespoon per cup of food you would normally feed.

Thanks for the tip! Never heard of that, I'll have to check it out!

I had forgotten about the canned pumpkin trick. We've done that with him before when he was a puppy. I'm going to stop on the way home and get some!

Congrats to everyone on dumping debt! You guys are doing a fantastic job and should be so proud of yourselves!!
I thought I was the only one that would go online and plan trips as well! I travel around the world on the Internet, lol! Yesterday I went to cabo and Jamaica! The day before I was in Bermuda! Oh and I did make a stop in disney yesterday between cabo and jamaica. I have really always wanted to go to Bermuda - but i still have that problem where I don't want to spend all that money on a vacation. There's a lot of stuff I would like to do to my house so part of me can't determine whether I would like to put it in the house or vacation. I know - the vacation will make memories and all but the updates on the house will last longer! Oh well - it wouldn't be until the end of the year if I decided. I'm actually thinking of picking day trips that are in driving distance to visit this year - one place a month. And I really hate to say this - but I dread leaving my dogs for vacation. I know it sounds silly but they are my fur babies.
On the topic of dogs - my one dog has gi problems ever since she was a puppy - 8 years now. The best thing that works for her that the vet had me do was take her completely off the regular dog food and boil some chicken (boneless skinless chicken breast) and you can even put in some white rice with it. Then ween them back onto the dog food after about 3 days. This way when they go back on the dog food it doesn't upset their stomach by switching them right back to it. And they love the special diet!! Lol

I "plan" so many Disney trips all the time! lol. I'm always getting those survey e-mails from Disney that are like "it looks like you were considering a trip with us, can you tell us why you didn't book?" :rotfl2:
